Farmers & Distillers
La nourriture est très bonne. Super endroit où aller si on veut manger de la nourriture américain à un prix raisonnable. Les donuts en dessert sont incroyables!
Much of the same menu as Founding Farmers with a Chinese twist. But go to a real Chinese restaurant! The rice is overcooked and "wet" and dumplings lack authenticity. The vibe is exciting but so loud the server has to get on his knees to speak with you. Although the menu is huge, I wouldn't say any of the food is memorable or that which you'd crave or want to return for. The drinks are crazy expensive (16 for a tiny martini with up charges- and I mean tiny) on otherhand doughnuts are great.
I like this Vivid place very much. The food was tasty and delicious. In my case I ordered medium well and was well done nevertheless was good.
I reserved by open table for seven fifteen and was sitted at 7:14.So I had and overall good impression.
Interesting place. Food was good not great. Riblets and dumplings were good. Drunk chicken and beef was the best partof our meal. Bolognese had too much rosemary seasoning. Glazed donut with ice cream was yum!
I'm really sad to write a negative review because I absolutely love Founding Farmers, the sister restaurant. The server must have forgot to put our order in as everyone around us that sat later had ate and paid the bill. After our entrees were delivered, we inquired about our appetizer. She claimed it was "delivered to another table" than walked away. We told her we still wanted it...it came out after we ate the entrees burnt.
Terrible experience at such a highly rated restaurant. After being seated, no one came to serve us within 30 mins! This was after we flagged down two of the waiters to order drinks who simply said they were not waiting our table & would call someone over who just never arrived. Left the restaurant after 40 mins due to the inept service. 100% would not got go again until they increase staff.
This was my first time attending the Sunday Brunch. Lovely and Delicious!
Went to the buffet. Kept running out of certain foods (especially salmon and other fish ) and people were waiting for replinishments for 10-15 minutes.
A very good Sunday buffet brunch. Everything was very tasty. Only couple problems, they refilled everything very promptly except they ran out of French toast and took a while to refill it. The menu listed caccio e peppe but I did not find it. Waiter promptly refilled drinks and cleared away plates. One of the better buffet brunches in DC area.
Amazing food and service! The brunch buffet did not disappoint.
Sunday brunch was amazing. Had a wonderful selection and great service.
Staff was friendly, food was great...I just noticed as longer we sat the less we were checked on. All around the everything was great...will be returning!
I know that 8 people party is pretty big but what is the use of a reservation when you still have to wait for half an hour to be put in a seat? Food is good though, server was attentive. The waiting is truly a bummer
Absolutely amazing!! a must. Will go back the next time I am in DC. Finally a chef got Rare Ahi tuna cooked correctly!.
Hi DebbieB: Many thanks for your wonderful 5-STAR review! We really appreciate it and look forward to having you back when next in DC. :) -Amy
this was my first time dining here and it wasn't anything spectacular. our server seemed a bit frazzled, and all over the place. we had to ask for water and he took the menu away before we could order our drinks. the food was average. i had the pasta which was bland. with the exception of the cashew fried rice, my party felt that their dishes were mediocre.
Food was just ok. Desert was great. Highly recommend the tart cherry vanilla cheesecake.
Delicious food, with generous portions. Try the deserts too.
Seated on time. Good service. Always a lively crowd.
This place is really hit or miss. Food is too salty most of the time, and the service is really suspect when they are busy.
Cute place overall, but I’m not a fan of the seating. Those long benches where you sit too close to strangers worries me. If you’re lucky you’ll get a booth.
Go a few times and try it for yourself. Just not a place a need to frequent when friends are in town:

It is a wonderful restaurant with great ambiance, spirits, and food. It is a great place for vegetarians. The appetizers were amazing. Every table had ordered bread, and so we did the same. We were not disappointed! The fried green tomatoes were the very best! We loved the cauliflower ravioli and the spaghetti squash dish.
Only recommendation would be to provide the bread for free if we order the drinks.
We will definitely go there again.
THE DONUTS WERE AMAZING. ESPECIALLY THE CINNAMON ROLL DONUT. This definitely made the visit worth it. The actual meal and service left us somewhat wanting. We are from the Midwest and visiting this place made us excited to give back to the North Dakota farmers. However, I’m happy we were able to support them, I think the staff & preparation of food slightly did them a disservice.
The service is incredibly slow and uneven during when crowded.
Order took 45 minutes due to kitchen mix up. We asked the waitress and she said it was coming. Then the manager arrived and explained the kitchen messed up and waiter was wrong l. When the Order came it was was cold and despite a promise to comp it/ I was charged
What a disappointment
I make a point to dine here every time I come to D.C. F&D is beyond amazing. Just come and enjoy. I do.
Only challenge was the delay in getting our drinks. It appears there was a disconnect of what drink I ordered. When the server finally ordered the right drink, I still had to wait a while to receive it. In fact after 10 minutes, I had to go to the bar and get it.
I have been to Farmers and Distillers before and it was a great experience, this time, not so much. Server took 10 minutes to evn address the table. Drinks too and additional 20. THe couple next to us finished paid, another gentleman was seated, has his drink s and dinner before our dinners were served. The food was only luke warm. My friend ordered an additional drink, 2 showed up. We sent one away and was billed for the 3rd drink. Not sure what the issue was, but no one addressed it.
I was surprised the food wasn’t as good this time as it was on my last few visits. It didn’t seem that crowded but the kitchen must’ve been overwhelmed because the food took a really long time. The service was only OK. Again not as good as expected. maybe the waitress was overworked but again service was slow. She’s very nice and helpful but it took her a while to get back around to us. At one point we were served our food without utensils and it took a while to get the utensils. That said the manager did appropriately address the concerns that we had about the food ( taste, quality, content, etc.). I will go back but I hope it’s better next time.
Considering the entire meal was comped, that should explain it - will never return nor ever recommend
Food generally was really good -- the prime rib was outstanding; although a "loaded" baked potato should have cheese on it; lemon-lime soda was okay but not as good as the hype about it
Service was not good -- the server was inattentive and seldom checked back (was clearly not keeping track of the flow of the meal); did not notice that the salmon had been left off the entree salad and it took a while to get his attention by which point it was almost not worth fixing -- the circulating host/manager did apologize later but the server never did and no bill adjustment was offered; didn't ask if we wanted drink refills, again we had to try to flag him down; he seemed a bit condenscending
Other -- when reservation was made, there was a box to indicate whether this was a special occasion and I checked that box -- nothing came of this in terms of even being asked what was the occasion much less marking it in some way -- you should either do something when this box is checked or quit asking..
Ambience -- the donut/baking smell is heavenly; the noise level almost prevents conversation a fair amount of the time
This was not my first time at F&D -- on all occasions, the food has exceeded the service... not sure i would choose again, particularly for a special occasion
Great food and reasonable prices with a cool hip vibe but still casual enough to relax.

The food was tasty. Our service could have been better. The waitress could have been more attentive. I would go back.
Each diner that accompanied me selected a different entree. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the waiter Yani was awesome!
No bacon on the buffet (though our waiter said it was there), only two protein items besides scrambled eggs, everything else was carbs. For the price there should have been more protein options (or better, the brisket was basically sliced fat). Service was very slow, including coffee and water refills, it was super noisy and crowded, which okay, brunch, but many items were empty every time we went up (i.e. crab dip). Plus we had reservations and still had to wait. I wouldn’t recommend.
Great food and a great atmosphere. Everything tasted really fresh.
Took my wife out for a nice breakfast only to realize they were doing brunch which was incredible. It was buffet style and absolutely delicious. They even had a staff member coming around with exotic foods to try. The hostess greeted us with smiles and seated us immediately. Our waiter was very friendly and took care of all of our needs. We laughed, we drank, we ate. A wonderful amazing experience. I will definitely go back.

Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. The atmosphere is delightful, the service was great, and the food was phenomenal; everything on my plate was so good! Their sustainability and farm-to-table mission is a great reason to go even on its own. I really can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant. We went for an my sister’s early birthday dinner, and the food was so good we decided to return for brunch in the morning. We weren’t disappointed and you won’t be either!
My husband and I had breakfast at Farmers and Distillers yesterday. The service was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. My husband raves about the French toast.
food is fast, but the Service is bad, after we set down, we waited 6min to get a cup of water, and our waitress never even bothered to give us refills, I ordered a drink and it never come to me, I have to cancel it when I finished my meal, and our waitress ask me if I still want it? Really?!
Again, food is fine, but service is horrible
First visit to this location. A little weird at first walking into the donut shop, then trying to equalize my expectations for dinner after smelling the waft of donuts (not a big fan).
Thankfully, we had a great server who made a suggestion. We both went with the special, blackened catfish. Wow, really nice, fresh and flavorful.
Good experience, we will be back.
This is my go to for business lunches. Everyone can find something they like to eat and there are plenty of tables that can accommodate groups.
