Farmers & Distillers
The place was very busy when we arrived and although we had a reservation for 9:00, we waiting another 15-20 minutes to get seated. Another 20 minutes to get drinks (a beer and a glass of wine) and an additional 20-30 minutes to get our appetizer. As always, the food was delicious and I’m still happy that we chose Farmers & Distillers for dinner. Will probably not go late on a Saturday again.
Very slow service
Despite being one of our favorite restaurants in DC, tonight, we had a poor service experience. Our server took forever to bring silverware, refill our drinks, etc. We also noticed that all the servers seemed to be clustered over in a corner, as opposed to serving customers. Multiple tables looked to be awaiting service. An empty table next us sat uncleared and dirty for 45 minutes before someone cared to clean it... all of this while there was low traffic.
Weekend brunch - the wait staff seemed to just be going through the motions. No welcoming explanation of the menu or ordering process. The meal includes “passed” breakfast items that past by - we never saw them. Very expensive meal that didn’t live up to expectations.
The food was lukewarm, and there was no omelettes , that was disappointing for me.
Our server and the food were very good.
However we were not happy to learn the only option for brunch was the brunch buffet.
This was not made clear at the time of the reservations and it was too late for us to change our location.
Although the food was very good and there was a good variety, we are not buffet people and never would have chosen your restaurant for brunch.
The beer can chicken was dry and still a very light shade of pink
The food was great. I had the glazed salmon, mashed potatoes with succotash (which was a sweet potato/ turnip/ onion mix). My guest had a veggie burger - asked for cheese - did not get cheese on her burger. Was brought a piece of cheese on a plate. We waited an inordinate amount of time for water glasses so I just got up and helped myself to the water glasses. Not the first time I have had to help myself to either water or glasses at this location. They just don't have enough help. I counted my server waiting on no less than 10 tables in his section. Most of the guests were not happy with their service. You just can't give good service to more than 6 -7 tables (even with servers assistants) in a holiday season. Sure he probably is going to still get tipped well because the restaurant is located in an affluent area - but I do avoid this restaurant due to the lack of decent service. One table of patrons sitting next to us departed because of poor service, was viewed actively complaining about said service, and the management had to comp their check. We were in no rush - which isn't an excuse.
Delicious food, wide ranging menu so it’s easy for anyone to find something. Definitely don’t miss the donuts.
It was great! Food was delicious, server was nice and helpful and the atmosphere was awesome.
Great fast service before the hockey game
Food was delicious and the service was excellent!!!
Food was great. Service was good but I had to repeat things to the server (can’t remember her name) however she was very friendly. Noise level was high but it was lunch time. Overall I love the Farmers brand so I’ll be back of course!
Our first visit to this venue was outstanding. We enjoyed the outstanding food quality and we appreciated the attentive service. A real winner - we'll definitely be back and recommend to others!
Hi Randall: Thank you SO much! We really appreciate your wonderful review and look forward to having you back for a 2ND visit soon!! :D -Amy
Great food though it was so crowded they couldn't keep up. Would definitely recommend the french toast
I enjoyed Farmers & Distillers....I just wish they would use less salt in some of their dishes. Eager to return. The energy is out of this world!
Hi Curtt: Thank you for your 5-STAR rating! We appreciate it and our Culinary Team has taken note about the amount of salt in the dishes served during your visit. We hope to have you back soon and call us: 202-464-3001 for a reservation in the future. -Amy
The service was very disappointing. I have never received bad service such as I received in this restaurant. I decided attend this restaurant for my birthday and I am in such disbelief in the lack of respect my party experienced.
The food and selection was excellent. Even with a reservation had to wait 15 minutes for a table. It was worth it; everything was the best. The noice level was rather loud and made it a little difficult to talk.
Great dinner! Our waitress did a great job and each of our meals were divine! Make sure to try the fried chicken and donut- you won’t be disappointed!
My sister and I loved the brunch and made reservations for New Years!
Terrific drinks and food. Service was wonderful and the ambiance was cool.
Hi lambchop: Thank you for your wonderful review! We greatly appreciate it and hope to have you back again soon. :) -Amy
Insufficient and inadequately trained service staff. Sat for over 20 minutes to place order, staff did not even walk past our table when I needed a steak knife for my steak or when I wanted more hot water, then I had to wait 10 plus minutes to pay to leave. Person bringing out the entrees just started putting food in front of people without asking who was having what. I think I counted four waiters working the floor on a Friday evening.
Hi JHK1: I am very sorry to read the service failed to measure up this time, and sadly was the pitfall to the enjoyment of your visit. :( I would love to touch base about your feedback and hopefully turn around the many mishaps that occurred during your experience. I will be sending you a personal msg with my email address. -Amy
Excellent vibe in this American bistro . A great variety of selections. From the fresh baked donuts to the Asian inspired dishes, dumplings, amazing beef, and a spectacular crab cake. Service is very efficient but not very engaging or warm.
Great food. Slow inattentive service.
This place is amazing!! Wonderful service, amazing drinks, and the food lived up to our expectations. One of my favorites to dine this far💜💜
My husband and I selected the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. The hostess who sat us wanted us to sit in the bar area while we asked if we can sit by a window. She wasn’t happy with our request.
The batter for the fried green tomatoes tasted like a fish batter. I’ve had this dish at Founding Farmers. It was much better there. Our drinks weren’t good either. We expressed this to our server she offered no replacement or anything. The cake was old. It was hard.
Very disappointing experience.
Hi WontBeBack: I am very sorry to read your Anniversary dinner was unsatisfactory and disappointing! :( I feel badly the FGT, your drinks and the cake all missed the mark, and would love to touch base to hopefully make this right. I will send you a DM with my contact info to hopefully touch base. -Amy
Place great as usual. Just wished that we were told when we booked that it was buffet only.
