   We visited Farmer Butcher Chef today for the first time in a few years and I was so looking forward to a treat for my birthday. I’m really sorry to say that we were all disappointed in the food. The staff were completely lovely as always and the range of drinks was very good but the food felt like a real step back from the last time we visited. The steak tartare was tough and under seasoned, the scallops were undercooked, the roast potatoes were oily, the carrots with wild garlic pesto were cold and gritty, and the kids sausages tasted extremely game-y to the point of being inedible despite not being advertised as venison sausages. The turbot and the ice cream were highlights, and as I mentioned the staff were really brilliant, but with 2 starters, 2 mains, a children’s meal and a bottle of wine costing close to £180, I left feeling really disappointed and unsure if we’ll ever try FBC again. Sorry!

   We were the only table booked for lunch so understandably the atmosphere was muted. Food was excellent. Beautifully prepared. This is not an inexpensive lunch venue but worth treating yourself

   We celebrated a big birthday and it was the perfect choice for quiet surroundings with a lovely ambiance, attentive staff and good food.

   A bit hit and miss depending on what you pick from the menu. Pigeon for starter was tough and difficult to cut. Scallops good. The turbot main has a crab pancake roll with it which was cold and just didn’t work with the hot fish. The steak was superb, but priced as market value on the menu and extortionately expensive on the bill. The standard of the food did not match the price at all. The food service was prompt, but ordering and drinks quite slow

   We've been here on many occasions and had a delicious meal, but this time the food was very disappointing. The beef tartare had a very nice sauce, but the meat itself was tasteless. My waldorf salad contained a mound of chicory with very few walnuts and a watery dressing. The cheesecake was off - they said it was their homemade cheese that had a special taste - but I know off cream when i taste it. My daughter had the pea soup - watery she said and she had a £42 steak. It was fine - but not worth £42 by any stretch. All in all disappointing compared to our past experiences there.

   Booked a table for two and was told this was something special. Lovely location, lovely staff, very welcoming and pleasant. Kept our privacy in tact and made us feel very special. I think I over dressed as jeans are the norm and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Food was beautiful and their knowledge on the wine was spot on. Would recommend this place every-time. I’ll go for the meat rack next time, laid out with local meats. Looking forward to the next time.

   It was lovely for an afternoon lunch. A lovely atmosphere and setting served with amazing food - all courses, especially the starters.

   A really lovely lunch for my daughters 30th birthday.The food the service and the ambience was very good and we will be back again very soon

    Lunch was very good but more than surprised to see the starters already on the table when we sat down. I have never experienced this anywhere else. Staff were good once you caught their attention. We had drinks in the garden before lunch which was great. But considering the weather forecast has been more than good over the last week all the tables needed a good wipe down - most had bird poo and some chairs very rusty. Was up at the Kennels the other day and all tables were spotless and in good state of repair. Overall a pleasant enough lunch.
