So - we were really looking forward to a fine meal before a play. It did not happen. The first red flag was dirty bathrooms. In a restaurant with prices like this - no excuse.
Next - the space has a real cafeteria feel to it, not what one would expect for this price range. I don't have time - but the food was mediocre at best- even at half the price I wouldn't go back.
The food was very good but the service was surprisingly slow since only one other table was occupied.
The food and service here is excellent, and the happy hour deals are outstanding!
Food and service were fantastic. Would recommend it to any vegetarian or seafood lovers. The only issue that we had was with the seat and table next to the window during the winter, which is a bit chilly.
Lovely Valentines Day dinner. Great service. Excellent vegan menu dishes. The cucumber martini was the best as was tuna burger, and the eggplant appetizer. Great eating for all tastes.
I love the Farmer and Fish in Sleepy Hollow so was excited to try the Gramercy location. It was a bit disappointing. Food wasn’t as good/fresh and it was very loud. I don’t want to hear loud thumping house music while dining.
Food and service was outstanding. Very fresh food and great drinks!
Delicious food and excellent service! Good Restaurant Week value. Look forward to returning.
Can't wait to go back and try their brunch specials. Also, WHITE-CHOCOLATE-PUDDING!!!!
Amazing food and great service!
The brioche french toast was delicious. Different as it was large square but tasted great. Wait staff was friendly and helpful.
Compared to their Purdy’s location, this was a big disappointment. Compared to other similar NYC eateries, this was also a disappointment. Room was festive and service was good. Food quite poor. I had a small, dried up piece of meat (4 dry bites I had to pry off the bone) of “shortrib”. My friend had a small piece of fish with a Vegetable bed he said tasted like it was pulled out from under the heat lamp. Sorry to write this bad review; we went there with high expectations. Maybe we hit a bad night.
Great food with lots of healthy choices. Our go to date night!
Nice. Food good and waiter nice, but not around all the time. We went early. Suspect louder later in evening.
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday with a friend. We were seated towards the back in a short hall with a bookshelf on one side. It gave us some privacy, but felt, weird. My friend had the tuna burger, which she really loved and said she'd be back just to eat it again. I had the Big Eye Tuna with Florida shrimp & veggie fried rice, coconut curry. The tuna was nicely portioned and seared, I added cracked pepper, the curry sauce was also tasty, but there's only enough for a few bites with it. The two shrimp were very overcooked and the rice unexciting. I though the servers were attentive, so no complaints there.
Except for the noise. And we had a 6pm reservation. Acoustics are not good.
Poor service - asked 3 times for Prosecco we had ordered
Tuna raw not medium rare
The food was delicious, and we enjoyed the beer selection. They grow their own herbs IN the restaurant, and it was cool to see them. The service was friendly and polite but could have been a touch more attentive. Would definitely go back.
Great food and service! A must-try!
This was my first visit to the restaurant; a friend and I tried it during NYC Restaurant Week— and thank goodness! Absolutely worth trying something new. The Restaurant Week menu had a variety of options, and everything we tried was beyond delicious! Our server was so helpful with drink pairings for our food choices and the timing of each course was perfect. The atmosphere was cozy yet social, and the dessert was the perfect way to end the experience. High five to their team!
Birthday great day
The monkfish was overcooked and for the price the dish was very small with just a few cucumbers. The dish overall didn’t have much taste and lacked flavor. My friend ordered the monkfish as well and felt the same. Cauliflower was delicious!
The food was just okay. The service was so-so. I feel like I wasted an opportunity to have a GREAT meal and had a pedestrian meal at the Farmer & the Fish.
Great service, great food. Will go back
Very small portions
Totally mediocre restaurant. As other reviewers have commented, the food is impressively devoid of any flavor whatsoever. Nothing tasted of anything. The tuna was tasteless as well as dry and overcooked, as were the Brussels sprouts, which were smothered rather than sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. The monkfish main course was a tiny appetizer-size portion, which again lacked flavor, the grilled cucumber chunks it came with were not particularly appealing, and the vinaigrette was not noticeable. The dish itself just doesn’t work, in addition to not tasting of anything. The tuna pockets appetizers were just odd, and consisted mostly of rice and almost no tuna. The apple pancake dessert is very good, however - the only flavorful thing on the menu.
The service is well-meaning but haphazard and random and not particularly helpful. The dining room itself hasn’t much in the way of atmosphere, in the same way that the food hasn’t any flavor. Dull and mediocre sums it up.
It took more than 20 minutes after seating to get any attention from the waitstaff (and even then, it had to be solicited). After that, it all went well and the meal (lunch) was excellent.
Unfortunately they were very shorthanded on Service. They were definitely overwhelmed. If I had know before we placed our.drink and appetizer order we would have gone somewhere else. Food was ok..my entree came out cold...
Everything was good except for the Chocolate "Lava" cake. Supposedly they will be replacing it so check before you order.
The bar staff was fab! The wait service was average and the food was good but based on their Westchester location I had higher expectations.
The service was terrible!!!! We ordered drinks which the server forgot about so hostess brought- the beer was flat-the server did not understand our order, they served three out of the four people and left the 4th meal behind until we got someone’s attention to bring the meal- awful service for sure - it was so bad that someone should have come over and offered some kind of compensation.
Good good, good service and we could actually have a conversation without shouting.
If you are looking for something low key this is the place. I've been wanting to go here forever, however, I was disappointed. I expected more variety. The food was delicious which made up for it. I would go back but I would dress more casual.
I was hoping for a bit more gourmet but overall pretty good and the staff went over backwards to please us.
Lovely meal for a special occasion (birthday in this case). Lots more on the menu we want to try.
Excellent attentive but non-rushing service. Several requests relayed to server and/or hostess upon arrival re: quiet table and how checks should be presented were remembered and smoothly attended to. Foods and wines recommendations were sound and responsive to diners' interests. Dishes all quite good or excellent. Note, also had good service in pre-dinner drinks at bar prior to last guest arriving for dinner. Allowed us to have a few happy hour priced wines before moving to table for leisurely dinner.
Excellent food, great service. quiet conversation - A+++
