Parties of seven and larger, kindly contact the restaurant directly for reservations.
For your information please kindly note that the Farang team will be closing the restaurant during the period from the 29th of January to the 3rd of February while we spend some time in Thailand discovering new flavours and recipe inspirations.
Fantastic restaurant. Food is top notch and service is one of the best I’ve seen. All staff are super attentive, helpful and friendly.
Only second time I've been here, the last being when it was still a pop up. Really professional now and food now on offer that bit more subtle.
Potential great but inexplicably over sweetened dishes. The dining room is packed out with tables and chairs to the point that the waiter kept bumping into my chair all night. The resulting noise levels are such that it’s difficult to have a conversation. Obviously a neighbourhood favourite but we came away thinking that what could have been a memorable experience was being sabotaged by some bad decisions
This place is always amazing. Every time we have friends over and they want to go out, this is the place we take them. Never had a bad dish. I struggled to find good Thai when I moved to the UK until this place opened.
Absolutely incredible place. We have lived around the corner for ages and finally went. We had the tasting menu which is a selection of 5 or 6 small plates and two main courses with sides. It was an amazing selection and really good value for money. Would definitely recommend!
Deliciously fresh and tasty Thai food. What more can you ask for!
The only thing I used to dislike about Farang was the lighting. They’ve since updated the restaurant with warm filament bulbs, and the place is pretty much perfect now. Amazing food. Amazing staff.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Fresh ingredients creating amazing dishes with wonderful flavours.
Fantastic authentic food with friendly service
Best Thai food outside of Thailand, simply incredible authentic spicy and just gorgeous! Fab service to match!
Food and service was absolutely fantastic, we had a great time!
FLAVOUR BOMB! Hidden gem.
Deep fried chicken and venison curry being my favourite. (We were warned that the curry was "extremely spicy" - but definitely not - but I guess I'm Malaysian...)
The other dishes paled in comparison, but only because of the intense rich flavours of my two aforementioned dishes. (The other dishes being the aubergine salad, cod spring rolls, beef curry and pork.)
The only let down was the roti, which was over done and became really hard and chewy within 10-15mins.
All in all, great experience - will be visiting again!
PS We were recommended 5 dishes between the two of us. Stick to that recommendation!
Absolutely delicious Thai food. We had the tasting menu which was a lot of food for 2 people but gave a little bit of everything, definitely worth it.
Great service and atmosphere, good flavours
Farang is the BEST Thai in UK I believe. Can't wait to go back again.
Great food that often marries Thai methods and food philosophy with British ingredients (a beef cheek curry was a perfect fusion). Lots of fresh herbs and great use of lemongrass almost suggest a Vietnamese vibe. Clearly an old Italian restaurant setting but a lively atmosphere and attentive wait-staff. The tasting menu at £40 was almost over facing - not sure I could have coped with the £45 feaster! Will be back.
Thai food with a difference, every dish superb
The food was sensational. The beef curry was a particular highlight. Would happily go back again and again!
Fantastic menu, well priced, great atmosphere. MUST try the Gai Prik, absolutely delicious
Food was absolutely amazing as was the service! Can't wait to go again.
Amazing food but the restaurant itself could really do with a face lift. Tables are very crammed in together, lighting is bright and it looks like an old fashioned Italian neighbourhood restaurant - not super in keeping with the Thai food! Also food was brought out in very quick succession, which when combined with the rather crowded atmosphere, left dinner feeling a bit rushed and not particularly special - a bit of a shame considering its quite a pricey place. Food is incredible though and what I'd go back for.
No complaints about the food at all . All very delicious and satisfying! My only complaint is the high level of noise present. The restaurant was not totally full but the lack of any sound dampening material (eg curtains or carpets) made having a decent conversation with my dining partners extremely difficult and uncomfortable.
The food is very good but the choice is somewhat limited. I didn't have much fish or prawns in my main dish & there is only one type of rice available.
Loved it even more than our first visit. Living in south London I wish there was one closer
My wife was celebrating a major birthday and so we wanted to go somewhere special. We chose the two people tasting feast, and while expensive for what you get, it offers an eclectic taste of the kitchen’s range of flavours and textures. Food was cooked and presented to a high standard and nothing disappointed. Ambient surroundings and the staff are well-trained and efficient. While the service felt a tad rushed - there was little time between dishes arriving - we were never urged to finish the meal by a particular time although we were on our way to a local pub after 1h 15m. Alcohol and cocktails good value. Important to book in advance as extremely busy at peak times.
No heating and we felt cold. A shame as otherwise good!!
The best!!! Best Thai in London. So fresh and unique. Lovely interior. Low key but buzzy. I will definitely be back. Just go!
It was great food as always! However, the table placement for 3 was extremely awkward. Also, it felt absolutely freezing inside and we needed to rug up. Minor issues, but would be great if you could think about them.
Excellent food and service, quite noisy though. Wines could be significantly improved.
the service was attentive but a bit slow, with the sides and 1 main (large plate) coming really quite some time before another large plate. which i understand the sharing concept but it meant everything was cold when the other large plate arrived. we did recieve an extra rice portion when I mention this which was much needed as for the price the rice portion was tiny! the roti was delicious and the mains were both well portioned but overall a bit overpriced. particularly the monkfish- not much fish/prawn at all! desert selection was a bit disapointing, cocktails again delicious but a £1 or so over priced.
vege/vegan options limited and a touch repetitive.
a mixed experiance overall. would we go again? we both agreed that we would probably have to order the exact same food as nothing else on the menu appealed. and that said it was a touch overpriced...so probably not due to price and variety. but if we were stuck and in the area we may...
Generally delicious food, the paratha was particularly delicious. The veggie options could have had more variety.
Incredible food and a fantastic variety of tastes throughout. The dishes are simple yet always surprising and exciting. Service was excellent as was the general ambience. Fantastic to have something so brilliant in the quiet heart of residential Highbury.
Phenomenal food. Decor and tables could be better - not the most comfortable tables and chairs, all felt very crammed in - did take away slightly from what would have been a fab meal. Food was stand out but for the price of dinner would definitely like a more cozy/comfortable experience.
The service was bad- and I felt everything was a little over done. More keen to get the style looking right rather than the experience. The giant fish for example, that we had to carve was served on a tiny plate. Food was good, although everything was very very hot/spicy.
Dear Anonymous, thank you for taking the time to review. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience at Farang. We always do our best to please every single customer and give to everyone the best experience ever. We thought our front of house team was well trained and same our chefs. Apparently, despite ages of experience we still have a lot to learn. But there is something we know: is not always possible to please everyone, and maybe this is the case. All the best!
Very tasty and interesting Thai food. Good service and help with menu choices
This place is a real find. The food is amazing - incredible flavours and completely delicious. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We absolutely love it. A few extra veggie dishes on the menu wouldn't go amiss, and they could really, really do with sorting out the playlist. They lost a star for ambience because the music is way too loud, and way too bizarre - segueing from The Who to Nina Simone, and even (unless my ears deceived me) Deep Purple (god help us!). Other than that, Farang does everything right.
Love it, Thai food are generally on the salty side so I don’t think those review about saltiness justified the negative rating.
I ordered the deep fried sea bass, fried chicken, jungle curry - they are lovely!
Thank you Lynn for taking the time to review. We are very glad you enjoyed your dinner with us. We hope to see you again very soon. All the best from everyone at Farang.
Amazing food every time, service could be better
The food in this Thai restaurant is superb. Each spice flavour is fresh and individual flavours are distinct in each dish. The dishes are all very different from each other, we had amongst other things duck massaman and fried aubergine, which were superb. The roti is delicious. This restaurant is certainly the best Thai food I've had in the UK. Each dish is popping with flavour!
Dear Rachel, thank you for taking the time to review. We are very happy to read your feedback and that you enjoyed your meal. We hope to see you again very soon. Best wishes from everyone here at Farang.
Don't go to this place unless you have deep pockets. The price of each dish is way too high considering the size of the portions. You are advised to get dishes to share but each one was the size of a measly starter - my friend and I found it quite difficult to share because there wasn't enough on each plate to go around. I guess that's a cynical ploy to get you to order more dishes. This is supposed to be Thai street food though, and that certainly wasn't reflected in the price. My friend was also a vegetarian and there were hardly any options for him, which really surprised me - normally Thai restaurants offer a lot of vegetarian choices. The food did taste good but the dipping sauce was the same for the few dishes we were able to order, which was disappointing, and I was so hungry when I got home I had to eat again.
