Opened in June 1997 by famed restaurateur/designer Pat Kuleto and Chef Mark Franz, Farallon is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square in the historic Elks Building. Recognizing the demand for large parties, Pat and Mark have also created three private dining rooms on the fourth floor.

Farallon is a feast for the eyes and usually the mouth. A couple misses tonight. We allowed 2 hours for an early dinner. Apparently our entrees had an accident and had to be redone. The swordfish was hot, but way oversalted as was the sauce. We asked for still water ( the only options given being sparkling or still) and instead of tap water were charged for bottles of spring water at $17). The table next to us later was offered tap water as an option. Our waiter disappeared just into dinner service although one of the floor managers provided attentive service. We ended up literally running for an 8pm show, due to the delays. A 5% health surcharge was added to the bill. With entrees upwards of $42, you'd think that could cover employee costs. Tonight was a miss.

Excellent as always. Had the sable fish, with several well presented vegetables. The outstanding dish was the thinly sliced scallops. Think twice if you fail to order this.

Spent Valentines Dinner w/ theater after. Wonderful atmosphere, wait staff, food, ambiance. Let our server know we had theater tickets and she timed our meal perfectly. Will be back when we can spend more luxurious time. We loved it!

Had a wonderful dinner at Farallon in honor of my father’s birthday. The service was outstanding and I really appreciate the custom vegetarian entree from the sous chef.

It's a nice place to have dinner, with an eccentric decoration. Food and service were excelent, but a little expensive. It was a little too noisy for me.

Farallon was great, as always. My abalone chowder appetizer and sablefish entree were outstanding, and the service impeccable. I try to have dinner here at least once whenever I am in San Francisco.

Chose it for the fish, and didn't lose in that. Started out with happy hour in the bar, with perfectly created mixed fish ceviche. Daquiri fixed to perfection, red wine nicely poured. Didn't forget about us, and came to get us when table ready. Service nicely personal, not overwhelming, recommendations solid, and food very, very good. Will go back, and recommend to others.
