Incredible ambiance and unique dishes.
I was there for a business dinner. The staff was very courteous and assisted promptly on all our needs.
Food and wine selection were very good.
Delicious food and good wine menu. The decoration is interesting and fun. Great atmosphere. We had a good time.
I remember Farallon from trips to SF in the 90s, and my recollection was the food and service were top notch and the decor was amazing—blown glass jellyfish lamps, wow! The decor now seems dated, and while the service was excellent the food was just okay and the price high. I wish I would have maintained my fond memories of the place from before and eaten at some place that had kept its edge or was simply more current.
Just plain good food with a very nice, down to earth waiter, in a very nice place. Pretty pricey though
This is a fabulous restaurant in an area where there isn't much aside from the hotel dining venues.
Really excellent meal and service. Highly recommend.
Have not been to Farallon in quite some time, and very glad we returned. It hasn't lost anything; the food was great, service good and everything was in order.
Excellent food, ambiance and service. The trifecta of dining out!
Everyone was very friendly and most helpful. Great place!
This has been our go to restaurant for years - food is consistently excellent and service is really excellent.
Very surprised when we got the check , took a 3 course meal and they charged for the entree, they corrected their mistake....but was it really a mistake... ??make sure that you look at your bill!
Jellyfish Bar happy hour is the best deal in town.
Great special occasion place...unparalleled atmosphere and service, and the food is consistently good.
Dined here with my friend as we had one night in San Fran. The ambiance was nice, maybe a little too romantic for a couple of friends. Our server was nice enough, but didn’t go out of her way to make us feel like we could ask questions. She was almost annoyed when we chose not to do the Prix Fixe. We ordered the spaghetti appetizer along with filet and scallops. The portions were just enough and presentation was nice. Although the price was a little expensive for what we got. There was also a lot of butter. Our dinner from start to finish was right over 30 minutes, so we felt a little rushed. Overall I would not return due to all the restaurants in the area.
Everything was amazing!!
Loved the food. Everything was fantastic tasting. Beautiful decor and very romantic. Great for a special celebratory dinner.
Farallon has long been one of our favorite go-to SF restaurants. We drive 70 miles just to go to dinner in the City. However, on our recent visit, the menu was changed to a fixed price 3 or 4-course dinner at $80 for the 3 and $90 for 4. WIthout much flexibility in the choices. Open table's description states $31-$50 nothing about price fix.
My wife and I usually have a cocktail and a bottle of wine and share a salad, get our own main course and share a dessert. In this case, we each had to choose 1 from each of the choices. (way too much food) We did share a 1/2 split bottle of wine. The bill was $226.00 + 18% gratuity of $38.00. $264.00 is far too much without wine and cocktails. I ordered grilled rare Tuna that was well done cooked gray through. My wife ordered the scallops and they were excellent. Farallon is off our favorite list!!!
What a great way to start a visit to San Francisco! I wish I could give the ambiance SIX stars - it is such an interesting room where the swimming pool used to be. The restaurant is elegant but not stuffy. The food was unique, innovative and delicious. I Am trying to stay on the AIP (Auto Immune Protocol) diet, and the restaurant was kind enough to amend dishes to accommodate my needs. The chef (was his name Jason???) even came to the table to ask about how I wanted a bed of spinach prepared under my tuna/octopus. I was sad to miss out on the luscious-looking plates my companions enjoyed, but it was still delicious. My dessert of artfully arranged fresh fruit was perfect! Thank you!!! The only kink for the night was when our check came and there was a startling $180 overcharge!
We were going to the theater and took advantage of their pre-theater special. It was quite good, but the restaurant was inflexible on any possible changes. Not a big deal, though.
Great food, cocktails and service. Out server was very attentive and made great food and drink suggestions. Definitely a memorable dinner.
We enjoyed the prefix menu and our experience was elevated by the Sommeliers recommendations for wine pairings with each course. Much appreciation for the great evening.
Every trip to SF has to include an evening at Farrallon, this being our third. Reliably delivering exceptionally fine fish dishes; tasty, creative and beautifully presented, it was wonderful to be back and to experience an evening in this underwater world!
We cannot comment of the seafood, preferring fish dishes, but absolutely recommend the halibut tartare - delicate, slightly spicy and absolutely delicious. Our main course (we both had sablefish) was stunning, the fish perfectly cooked and the accompanying vegetables and crab meat perfectly chosen.
We'll be back next time.
I had a lovely pre show meal, great wine and oysters. Scallops and 3 cheese desert.
I've enjoyed the food and service here many times and was pleased to show off this gem to a visitor from the east coast.
Service very good. Very respectful of your privacy and very knowledgeable about the cuisine. Prix Fix me u 3 or 4 course. Add one for oysters and other chilled seafood. Haven't been there in 15 yrs. Was amazing.
This is our go-to restaurant when we are in the area for top quality atmosphere, dining selections and srvice.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. My husband said it was one of the best meals he has ever had. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent service, unparalleled food, beautiful atmosphere
Second time dining there and hit the mark again! Server was excellent!
I did not think it was a pleasant dining experience.
We have been there several times. The service, wine list and atmosphere are all very good but the food has become very average.
Food was outstanding and wait staff superb; very engaging and helpful in menu choices
Sehr schönes, eindrückliches Ambiente. Ausgezeichnetes Essen (frisches, leckeres Brot zur Vorspeise!!), frisch zubereitet mit offener Küche. Freundliche Bedienung. Meiner Meinung nach etwas überteuert.
Absolutely fantastic food and dining experience. The price points were actually not bad. The service was great! Thank you guys.
My favorite restaurant in San Francisco.
There is a reason so many call Farallon the best seafood restaurant in the City; it simply is the best seafood restaurant in the City! Each time we come to San Francisco we make a point of dining at Farallon. It never disappoints. The food is excellent - fresh, properly prepared and beautifully served. the wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.
Birthday for my friend. The seafood was old and it tasted fishy and had that soft mouth feel that you get when fish, calamari and oysters begin to decay. Our server, Katja was very attentive to start the meal but we did not see her for the last 30 minutes when I needed her to send my tuna back because it was horrible.
The noise was insanely loud and the staff allowed a child to be on their iPad with the volume so loud that all tables around were visibly bothered.
I think the restaurant is resting on it’s laurels. It used to be amazing, but lately it’s less than average.
Did not live up to the hype. Food was salty and did not taste fresh. Will not be back.
This restaurant has been a staple in San Francisco for more than 25 years. The food quality and service have all remained consistent over that time. There really is nothing there that isn’t fantastic.
Really unusual venue. Menu is a bit limited, service is good. Worked well for a nice date.
