Currently, the team headed by Executive Chef Jason Ryczek focuses on executing a classic San Francisco dining experience with modern sophistication. Farallon as usual was all around wonderful! What a gorgeous gem of a restaurant. The food was not only delicious , but also beautiful. Our server was on point and made us all feel so welcomed.

Our waiter, service and food experience was nearly perfect with the exception of some super rowdy patrons downstairs and until a man who appeared to be the maitre d showed up at our table. His appearance was that of a used car salesmen and his general demeanor was aggressive.

It never ceases to amaze me how great this restaurant is and how it has been able to remain in such high regard in the SF dining circles. My wife and I first went there right after it opened about 21 years ago. When we dined this last Saturday night, the food and service were impeccable. I am glad to say that this hasn't changed. We had quite the memorable meal. The food was (salmon in particular) was possibly the best that I have ever been served. That being said, I am actually going back this Saturday night. All that you do is much appreciated! Thank you.

Been here many times. Tonight completely wrong order came out so we had to wait twice as long to eat. Not sure what went wrong. Waiter gave perfunctory apology. Generally service seemed off although food was excellent as usual.

The food and service here are outstanding. Love my cioppino with garlic bread. Nice place to dine after shopping from union square.

One of my favorites and it did not fail !
My dinner was PHENOMENAL!
Started with picked Crab cocktail, and followed with a cool Asparagus and Lobster soup that, while it could’ve stood a pinch more of salt, was utterly delicious!!

The real treat, a pan fried Ling Cod with Spring Peas and Muscle foam that was so sublime and spot on, that if I could, I would’ve asked for more. It was SO Delicious that I want to use an expletive to punctuate it.

I come here as often as I can but I was so pleased with an otherwise under appreciated fish such as Cod to be so expertly prepared, that I am happy to give a shout out to the excellent Line Cooks tonight.

Thank you so much for an utterly enjoyable dinner !!

Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT !!

We had a fabulous meal. The fresh oysters were wonderful. The duck main dish was cooked to perfection, as was the cod. The chef tailored it to our keto diet wonderfully.

Farallon is a class act, especially if you enjoy creative seafood presentations in a beautiful setting that evokes marine life--especially noteworthy are the ceiling lighting fixtures. Have been here several times and this last time was as great as before. Recommended.

Farallon is one of my most favorite restaurants in San Francisco. I love everything about it. The food is consistently delicious, the presentation flawless, the service superb, and the ambience is wonderful. The bar area is awesome for a quick bite. Plus, they offer a very decent happy hour. Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but fair and definitely not outrageous. I'll be back soon.

The waiter did not attempt to help with one in our group with dietary restrictions and was somewhat rude about it. Otherwise service and food were fine but less amazing than expected based on other reviews.

Odd decor including paintings one might expect from “Skipper Bob’s Fish and Chips” and a large fishing net to boot! Limited and uninspired menu. For a “seafood restaurant,” I would expect more than two fish entrees and one scallop entree. Especially with one being a very marginal seared tuna with bizarre accompaniments (guacamole? “Anchovy toast” which was two white anchovies lying on top of a wafer thin toast and grilled lettuce). Not that it was terrible. Just odd and I expected much more from a restaurant with so many favorable reviews.

My all colleagues love this restaurant.
All food were excellent and so tasty. I am not usually a drinker, but white wine was totally great. I missed the name we ordered... I wish I could confirm the name to this restaurant...

Had been many years since my last visit and Farallon did not dissapoint. Lovely dinner in a still stunning dining room. Staff were warm, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. And when they didn't know something they happily went and got the answer and we all learned something.

Moments of excellence is the best you'll get out of Farallon. Starting with the "Royal Platter" (which was no longer listed on the current menu, but still available to order, secretly priced $100 higher than advertised in the online menu), the oysters, muscles and clams were mediocre at best. The star of the platter, interestingly enough, was the shrimp (the lobster being a close second).

For the entree, the bluefin tuna was amazing, but the accompanying sides (quinoa and a strange take on a Cesar salad) were completely unpalatable.

Dessert was a mixed bag as well. The chocolate torte was fine, but the Pavlova was disappointing

As for the service, most of the restaurant staff was fine, but just fine. Our waitress was cold and distant at best. It was almost as if she didn't want to be serving us but was only doing so out of professional courtesy.

In the end, the meal was significantly more expensive than expected (the sneaky price hike of the platter), and the majority of the food was unsatisfying, but with a sprinkle of amazing.

Very pleasant welcoming staff. We were not rushed . That is important. The other three people in my group had not been to Farallon despite being in CA for years . I have very fond personal memories at Farallon and recommended it for this dinner meeting.
Very enjoyable . One member was from Australia and Pavlova was on the menu ! How nice that was! I’m originally from Massachusetts and dry Massachusetts scallops were on the menu. I wish I had mentioned it was my birthday...
Wonderful evening and productive meeting .I asked for a quiet table so we could also talk. The noise was moderate but we were able to converse . I would like to return soon personally.

PS I wish you offered a Cabernet Sauvignon that wasn’t a red blend. I ordered the Zinfandel. One of my favorites is Frank Family.

This restaurant is beautifully and creatively decorated, but that is where the accolades stop. We had 2 appetizers and 2 mains and all would be described as either flavorless or strange. The seared tuna was nothing special in that it consisted of the tuna and a rather uninteresting guac for a side. The sablefish was good, as far is it went, but was plain, having no sauce or other complimentary accompaniment. It was also small, something that is inexcusable at the prices being charged. There is an aversion here to sauces, garlic, onions and pretty much anything that adds flavor to food. Very disappointing.

I was here on the last night of a week-long visit to San Francisco. I was really impressed with the food and service. As well, I loved the nautical decor of this establishment. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite restaurant of all time!!
The ambiance, the service the decor, the food. This rates to the top of my list!
Robert our waiter was amazing. He made our birthday extremely special.

Wonderful overall dining experience. The food was delicious. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The seating density allowed ample privacy. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
