Our jellyfish lounge offers a comfortable bar with tavern-esque dishes. The raw bar is full of wonderful raw/chilled options. Looking for a more casual dining experience? Ask for our Méduse menu.

Come see one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the city with an artists mosaic ceiling dating back a century. Farallon is truly a unique experience in San Francisco fine dining.
Overall the food and experience was great, thanks to Laura, the Sommelier, she is amazing. Our waitress? Not so much.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area. We went for a special occasion and felt pampered by our server.
Not an everyday restaurant due to the cost, but definitely a once or twice annual or special occasion place for friends and family.
We were so pleased with the noise level being low in the restaurant. With its plush seats and comfy layout, it helped keep the noise level to about 50% of what most restaurants are today. No yelling across the table to be heard.
Nice restaurant but unfortunately very slow service.
I specifically asked for the oysters to be played separately because of an allergy and that was completely ignored. Quality wasn’t up to price points charged. Was recommended by a friend who hasn’t been in years. Wouldn’t recommend
I used to enjoy this restaurants. However the menu is lacking. The food was sub par. Had to send the Sable Fish back as it was raw. Service was just ok. It is a shame, the location is great, the restaurant has a good feel.
Great food at a very fair price. Fabulous location. Would definitely go back.
This restaurant is outstanding. It has been a few years since I was last here, and it did not let us down. Excellent meal, truly great flavors of all of the items we tried.
My only disappointment was a fixed price menu. Luckily there was one item on it that I would order. If it hadn’t been for that, the selections for that night were nothing I wanted
Good food and good atmosphere
With out a doubt the most disappointing restaurant in San Francisco for the money. Well over 2 hours to be served our main course. My fish entree was 4 bites. Could not wait to get the hell out of that place. The owners should be ashamed of themselves. 6 people at my table asking after 2 hours of waiting for their dinner if we should just go ahead and order waffles and eggs, as breakfast and dawn were approaching. 3 people ordered steaks which came cold to the table. The entree portions were appetizer size anywhere else. Shocking!
I don't generally respond to reviews but as the General Manager of this proud establishment I am of course very disturbed to hear about a table of guests who were so thoroughly disappointed with their experience and even more so because I was here throughout service on Saturday and was not made aware that anything was amiss. Perhaps the reviewer would be so kind as to give me a call so that we could discuss the matter further. Thank you, Kevin Boals Farallon 415-956-6969
Well prepared and presented food. Service needs to be improved, specifically timing of wine servings (bringing the wine and serving) was way off: the wine we ordered didn’t arrive till well after the food was served
Excellent food, menu options limited due to 3 or 4 course format. Would have liked a tasting menu option
Wonderful dinner with my best friends.
Always a notch above.
Yet again, memorably well-prepared seafood. Pasta was also fresh, with a nicely complex sauce. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. Still one of San Francisco's best restaurants, IMHO.
Disappointing menu. Limited entree selection. Not a great value. Will not return.
Very attractive art deco design throughout, and a surprising large restaurant. The prix fixe $80 menu had nice selections and all of the food items we ordered were excellent. Definitely worth a visit especially for a special occasion.
Bad. Never coming back
Service was too slow and not attentive to our needs. Food was good but service ruined it. Also too loud with all the tables upstairs above the bar
Excellent food and excellent service! Great place for a special evening.
The service was top notch! Our waiter at dinner was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, low key, and very efficient and helpful. The food was beautifully plated but hit and miss. The tuna tartare with octopus was very flavorful but the mushroom risotto while filling lacked depth and flavor. The gnocchi was just okay. The fish dishes were well prepared but lacking and the mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. Overall for almost $300 for 3 of us, I am ambivalent. Stick with happy hour, everything we had during happy hour was delicious (and more appropriately priced). Would definitely go back for happy hour.
Great food and wine. Creative.
Excellent food, attentive staff, and not too exorbitant cost
The food was amazing. The ambience was beautiful. We were able to have a wonderful conversation.
This place is very consistent. Whether for a date or a night out on town, you will leave the restaurant feeling pleased.
Nice ambiance, small portions but very tasty. Be prepared to spend some coin.
We have been coming here for years and always loved it......always requested and have sat upstairs....this time not open.....was seated downstairs in the dining room....albeit it is an attractive room, however, since the open kitchen is right in front of it along with a waiter’s station on the side and the bar around the corner, one can no longer have a quiet intimate dinner with conversation......too noisy.....service not nearly as good......food not nearly as good.....and now one HAS to order a 3-5 or 7 course meal, even if you don’t want that much food, turning, in this case a 3-course meal into $80.00, which would have been maybe $40.00! Too bad.....won’t be going back next time we are in the City!
Our server was fantastic! We ate under the news 3/4 course menu and the server was extremely knowledgeable. The food couldn’t have been any better. Everything was brought to the table in a timely manner and every interruption was perfectly timed and needed. I can’t wait to go back.
Went to Farallon for NYE. There was a fixed menu with a fixed gratuity. I love this restaurant, but found the service to be lacking especially since they collected a 20% gratuity on the bill. The service should be stellar if you are forcing a gratuity. The food is wonderful, however. Not to be missed!
We were so disappointed by our New Year's Eve dinner at Farallon.
Having been to the restaurant several times before, when I made the reservation, I specified that we wanted to be seated in either the main dining room or upstairs. When the restaurant called to confirm our reservation, the reservationist noted that this request was in the system.
We arrived early for our reservation, and were kept waiting. I assumed we were waiting for one of the tables we requested, but instead, we were seated in the alcove opposite the restrooms. When I asked about our request, the maitre d' simply said he only saw a request for a booth. Not wanting to make a scene, I retreated to our table.
Our waitress was horrible. She never even introduced herself. She wasn't friendly at all. She was a robot. This was a night of celebration, and this woman could barely crack a smile. I guess you don't have to make an effort when you're guaranteed a 20% gratuity.
Then there was the food. My husband and I ordered the 4-course dinner. The lobster appetizer was basically scraps of spiny lobster floating in a glorified grapefruit juice. The gnocchi shouldn't have been considered a course - there were literally 8 gnocchi in a large bowl. I had the filet of beef with escargot. The filet was good quality and cooked well, but then served completely cold. And not the "I ordered it rare" cold. The "this has been sitting out for a while" cold. The escargot tasted like dirt. The only redeeming aspects of the meal were the desserts and the Tattinger champagne. Oh, and the valet guy was great!
Complete waste of $750!
Went to Farallon for NYE with 2 couples, we were all blown away by the dinner. It was a wonderful send off to 2019. And of course the beauty of the surroundings was a joy as always.
NYE Celebration. The night could not have been more perfect. You expect less on NYE and other holidays. But this was hands down outstanding.
We were disappointed in the limited menu. We had not been to Farallon in a number of years and had great memories of the menu. We did not think it was anywhere close to our memory and would not return
Farallon is always wonderful in every way and our latest visit did not disappoint. The chef even came over to introduce himself after our waiter told him that we were from his hometown area (San Luis Obispo)....and came by a second time after we were served to check on our satisfaction with our meals. The staff is attentive, friendly, and well educated re the menus. The menu is constantly changing and always delightful! A favorite for special occasions when we visit SF!
Their Happy Hour is good however the main menu is essentially pre fix which we do not appreciate as we are fairly light eaters. It’s super expensive but the food is special.
The food was delicious. The plating of all of the dishes was beautiful.
The seafood is very fresh and the dishes superbly created and plated.
Ambiance wonderful. We had our 3 1/2 month-old granddaughter, who slept throughout while we thoroughly enjoyed dinner.
This was my husband’s and my second visit to Farallon. We visit SF frequently, and all four of us will come back.
Thank you! Service is impeccable.
Go back in time and enjoy this wonderful restaurant. I have not been there since the 1980's and it is still just as delicious.
Sommelier Chris did a phenomenal job. Very passionate about German wines was a great treat!
