Fanny’s, the Restaurant and Café at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, was brought to life by restaurateurs Bill Chait and Carl Schuster, with support from philanthropist Wendy Stark.
Named after Fanny Brice—the legendary movie, vaudeville, theater, and radio star portrayed by Barbra Streisand in her Oscar®-winning role in Funny Girl (1968)—the striking two-story, 10,000-square-foot space, conceptualized by the late architect Osvaldo Maiozzi, features a chef-designed open kitchen, elegant bar, and captain-based service style that nods to a bygone era, and offers diners cuisine and cocktails by Chef Raphael Francois and Julian Cox, respectively.
Fanny's offer a remarkable market cafe for breakfast and lunch, seven days a week. Reservations for the day time are not required as seating is first come, first served.
Fanny’s has tapped Raphael Francois, of West Hollywood’s Tesse, as executive chef and Julian Cox, formerly of the Arts District’s Bestia, to head the bar.

Fanny's will be partaking in both the east coast and west coast count down so make sure to dress to impress as we take you back to old Hollywood through food, laughter, and wine! What a fabulous night at Fanny's! The special pre-fix for Black Panther was amazing, the food and service top notch! Really fun, fantastic food and wine pairings. We will be back for another special night out!

This is the new restaurant that everyone must immediately try. It’s fabulous. The food, the ambiance, the service, is a total Los Angeles experience. Jimmy promises me I will get a res after this place becomes”known”. I doubt it so I’m about to make another reservation We were a party of four. We shared several appetisers and two main courses. We had the ORA KING SALMON yuzu beurre blanc, and the short ribs as a main course. The appetisers were: torched yellowtail; snap pea with ricotta cheese and a burrata with figs. They ran out of fresh bread and gave us. A crudités platter Thank you for a most pleasant evening They partially comp the valet and as an option we found street parking Enjoy!

The restaurant seems understaffed, and the service workers do not follow through with a request. There was a 5% surcharge on the bill for the restaurant workers that was not mentioned by the server. In addition, there is some effort put into describing the dishes on the menu, and yet they are poorly conceived and we did not enjoy the food that we ordered. The spinach linguine was soupy and there was no clear idea that parmesan cheese could or would be added. In addition, the notion of the burger with cheese and ham is not smart for the price. The waitstaff does not seem to know much about the menu, and the food is brought to the table in no particular order, simply when it is ready. Some of the waiters seem to spend an inordinate amount of time elsewhere. This is the second time that I've been there, the first time was passable but the food was not especially good, as it more like short order cooking. It is possible that the management is simply missing in action. The restaurant in other words should probably be put under new management. The bartenders do not seem knowledgeable about anything other than what they are told to make as cocktail recipes, but if you ask for a kir they are likely not to know what it is.

We don't inform guests about the 5% HealthyLA charge because it is clearly displayed on the bill and we are able to remove it should a guest request this option. I do appreciate your feedback but would also appreciate what specifically occurred other than very vague statements about your experience. This will be helpful so we can improve and refine our service. Thank you.

After visiting the outstanding Godfather exhibit at the Academy Museum we celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Fanny's. All the food , from the appetizer Yellowtail to the gnocci, was delicious. Service is outstanding with excellent wine recommendations from Victor. Did I mention that they have a cheese cart? You'll want to eat at Fanny's just for that!

Dinned before a film screening at the Academy Museum. I was completely surprised by how delicious everything we ate was. I will be back just for the sea bream in salsa macha. Honestly one of the most perfect dishes I’ve ever had. We also had the hamachi, beets salad and gnocchi, but the sea bream was the star. The service was very attentive. All in a movie lovers dream location. Perfect for out of town guest or special occasion.

Took my mother for her birthday … was the first time for us. We had remembered we wanted to go both having gone to the museum before this restaurant opened. I was a little hesitant after reading some lack-luster reviews but I can usually get a vibe from a reviewer when they are looking for something to go wrong. All I can say was we had a perfect experience from valet through dessert. We dined sort of early at 6:30pm and the restaurant had mostly a bar crowd at that time which is fine with us. We were seated at a circular banquette which is always my dream type of seating scenario. Everyone was super attentive and our waiter was a dream. She was knowledgeable, gave great selection advice and always checked in. We ordered cocktails that were delicious, the black truffle hummus (get it), Caesar salad prepared table-side as was our 32oz T-Bone. We shared everything including the rhubarb cobbler. My mother commented that everything was prepared with care as if it were being served to a loved one. She has never given that high of a praise to a restaurant meal before. That alone blew me away. The decor and location add to the experience and even the playlist/DJ was spot on. Thanks Fanny’s. I’ve already hooked you up with friends that wanted to know about our experience.

The burger was excellent. The fries are great. Chocolate tart was wonderful. Service was excellent. It’d be nice if they had more then two beers on tap but otherwise the restaurant is great.

Service was so slow we were late for the screening. Our waiter spent more time at the computer than attending to customers. Best part of dinner was the wine and after dinner coffee. Wait staff were not well acquainted with the food items which were hard to figure out from menu descriptions. Food was Luke warm. Best item was the Caesar salad. The restaurant was freezing as was the theatre.

The menu has something for every pallette, non vegetarians, gluten free, and for meat eaters, beef, fish, chicken dishes are available as well as a wide array of desserts. The servers are very friendly and on par when it comes to persoinalized attention. I highly recommend Fanny's for the food quality and the service

Got placed with my party of 5 (which they charged gratuity on the bill) next to the construction. Service was slow. When I asked for soda it never came, when I asked for a b day cake it never came either…terrible service willl never come back to this place

The service was good, the employees were nice. But in every other way it was lacking. Food was mediocre to bad. I had to scorched yellowtail and you couldn't tell it all that it was scorched and the citrus sauce it was in was meh. The Branzino was smothered in a gooey flavorless but spicy sauce? And then sprinkled with an abundance of sesame seeds. I found it disgusting. She's bored with meh, the New York strip was ordered by my companion to be well done came out medium rare, you get the idea. Music was loud and made it hard to have a conversation. Sad, really wanted to enjoy myself and like the restaurant.

Excellent dining experience. Food was excellent. Drinks were unique. Everything came out on time and the service was impeccable. The Caesar salad is probably one of the best in Los Angeles. Don’t miss the branzino. Or the rhubarb marshmallow cobbler.

I love it there! It's an experience especially if you have a screening to attend at the academy. Gives dinner and a movie new meaning. The service is upscale- staff is superb, friendly, courteous knowledgeable and worth the price of admission

Every course arrived in a timely manner & our server was incredibly attentive. The seared yellowtail is absolutely delicious! The Nebraska t-bone is sublime! The peach burrata is a treat! We want to try more dishes, but if this is all we ever ordered, we’d be completely happy. Truly recommend.

What a pleasant surprise. Didn't expect it to be this good and this impressive. My only issue with it is that dining experience is that fast enough to use as pre-screening experience. If I wasn't going to movie at the Museum, I'd be happy to sit there for hours. All food was great. Excellent collection of vegetables and fish. The halibut and asparagus were particularly good. So was the Caesar salad. Everyone working there was so friendly and pleasant. Fun movie-related names of menu sections and cocktails. Really great experience wrapped with a terrific chocolate tart.

Beautiful restaurant but not much attention to detail. We ordered an entree and two sides and a main. The main arrived first, we got the appetizer last and our drink order took too long. They took it off the bill, but the overall dining experience was not what we hoped for.

Our waiter disappeared after our meals were delivered (not by him) and we never saw him again the rest of the night, because he was too busy selling and delivering wine to the tables near us. We had to flag down another waitperson to get the check. I would not have left a tip, except that the bus staff and other wait staff were excellent.
