Food service is way too slow. We asked our server twice, waited more than 40 mins before our food came. The restaurant is not full. And the dish we were waiting for is steamed clams which doesn’t seem to be that complicated.

We are a regular at Fanny Bay but tonight the food wasn’t up to the expected standards, clam chowder was below par, oysters were great as expected, calamari bland

Tonight I bring guests his family here to try one of their signature dishes, which we really enjoyed in the past. However, on our recent visit, the menu had changed, and we were recommended by the staff to try the West Coast Nabe, priced at $60, with an additional half crab for $25. When it arrived, the dish was disappointing. The base was mostly two packs of udon noodles, and the toppings were minimal — aside from the fish being relatively fresh, the overall portion did not justify the $85 price tag. It felt unbalanced, like a bowl of noodles disguised as a premium hotpot. What made the experience worse was the oysters. I ordered two types of oysters, six of each, but they brought us 12 of each instead — doubling the quantity. Since we had a bit of wine, we didn’t catch this on the bill until we got home and realized the overcharge. It’s hard to say whether they’ve changed the chef or ownership, but the quality and transparency definitely aren’t what they used to be. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

The food here can be described as mediocre at best. The clam chowder was thin and consisted primarily of potatoes, the crab bao were way to spicy, the surf and turf tacos had a sad dried out morsel of pork belly (hard to understand how pork belly can be dry), and the grilled octopus was burnt. The fish and chips were actually just breading. The only dish that was good was the sablefish collars. Finally, the service was incredibly slow. We waited over half an hour for our food and the server gave no apology and displayed no concern. If you are planning to go out in Vancouver, go somewhere else.

Always a pleasure going to Fanny’s! Fresh and flavourful seafood of all varieties. Went for the iconic happy hour and indulged in oysters and appies. Everything was great as usual although we did try the snapper ceviche and it was a little underwhelming. Was missing the acid I expect from a ceviche but still a good dish. Will be back soon for another happy hour feast!

Got the Shukers Dozen and it was delicious. I would buy the smaller oysters next time. Excellent service!
