After years of serving as a personal chef and operating Scratch Catering Chef Donny Strackbein opened his first restaurant just outside of his hometown of Jefferson Township (population 3814) in 2010. Six years later we are now bringing those same small town values, friendly service and fresh farm raised foods to our newest adventure The Fairview Cafe. We would be honored to have you dine with us.     Every aspect of the service was extremely slow. Even just to get a glass of water took 15 minutes. Food was just ok. This was the second time for us that it was like that. We do like the atmosphere a lot.

    Some dishes are pretty good some not so good ! My friends had ribeye they did not enjoy. Also they need to change their salad dressing as they come from a bottle and are served diner style in a plastic cup. All and all not bad they just need some polishing!

    Service is always excellent very nice people but the portions and the quality of food or not as good as they once were here and the other two restaurants they own it's a shame it's really nice inside and again people are very nice but one nice thing is you can bring your own wine as they do not have a license

    We didn’t not realize it was a BYOB, our server was great, she talked to the chef and apparently he had a bottle of wine that we could purchase. Food was delicious, Diane was great, great service and also so nice to talk to. We will be back.

    We really love this place. Service, as always, was excellent. However, the food quality wasn’t up to the same high level as it has been the first few times we went and was just ok.

    We have been going to this restaurant for many years. It was always delightful. This time, however, it was awful. It was steak night and 4 of us had steak. It came out cold and overcooked. My au jus was fatty liquid. The prime rib looked like it was passed through a broiler. Awful

    Great looking building, pretty cool actually. Service: my experience ok but listening to other servers, there are more experienced ones there. The food was underwhelming for the price. Good food, not great

    Great food in a great atmosphere. We could have sat outside on the deck, but we chose the very nice ambiance inside with the AC. Menu/Food were great. I was surprised that the restaurant was only 1/2 full on a Friday in July. More people should give this a look!

    We fell like second class citizens. They sat us on a dark corner. Full of mosquitos. The table and chairs were the kind of hard cheap plastic i would not even use outdoors for my guests. At 6:30 they were out of 2 main dishes already. Service took forever!

    Our dinner at The Fairview Cafe was so enjoyable! I appreciate restaurants that I am able to book through OpenTable, and Fairview is one of them, because there is proof of the booking and canceling/modifying is very convenient. We started off with our fav goat cheese appetizer each and my husband and I both had the cheese and spinach ravioli. The dishes were soooo good and we had plenty to take home to enjoy the next day. I always like to select one of their decadent desserts to go. This time it was the lemon meringue pie, half that I enjoyed that night and half the next day. Sommer served us and she gets an A+ for her service and friendliness.

    Went to Fairview (AGAIN!) and, as usual, our experience was perfect. Our server was Heather and I have to give a huge shout out to her for impeccable service, especially the perfect speed between timeliness without feeling rushed. Two of us had the cowboy ribeye and two the pasta with cheese and spinach ravioli, and both dishes were fantastic. We all had the prize winning goat cheese appetizer, baby bella mushrooms, and the crab poppers, all of which were hits.

    If you have an opportunity to try the Mediterranean Stuffed Salmon, please do yourself a huge favor and order it. It was one of the most delicious meals that I have had. One suggestion is to mention that it is a BYO, which we had forgotten from our last visit.

    The Fairview Cafe never disappoints! Yet another delicious meal, starting with two goat cheese appetizers, followed by the panko chicken and duck, both which were very good. It's off the beaten path but that is not stopping the many diners from experiencing this BYOB. Excellent service and a variety of to-die-for desserts make for the perfect evening.

    This is our third time at the Fairview Cafe in 2 months. The food is excellent and is BYOB. A different dining experience from other restaurant in the area. Love the four-way fireplace. Amy was our first server. Excellent service, she was on top of every single detail. Second time we got different server, and the service was poor. The third time, we got the same waiter. Again, poor service. Fortunately, this time Amy noticed it and took over without making the other server feel bad. As our first time at the Fairview Cafe, thanks to Amy we had an excellent dining experience. That is why I am giving the restaurant five stars. Thank you Amy, for making us feel special!

    Food is very expensive (but very delicious) . My husband & I went for a special occasion. When we arrived, the hostess couldn't find my reservation. Even tho I showed her my confirmation from Open Table. She still wouldnt honor it, so we were sat in another back room which was sort of OK. I couldn't believe the price of $75 for one of the specials. Really? Probably won't go there again til next season.

    We were there on Thursday for "steak night". It was good but not outstanding. Small salads- ala carte, small bit of potato, decent steak. No steak sauce or ketchup! Dessert cakes were ok. I liked mine- creamsicle, two others in party did not care for theirs. Almond joy And chunky monkey. I would go again. But now I know what to expect. I thought that the steak would be better - I had the rib eye. They were out of T-bone which I preferred.

    This was a very poor dining experience. They were out of ten or more menu items, which greatly limited our choices. They were quite busy but very understaffed. For some reason our table linens were damp. We waited 45 minutes for our order to be taken. The house salad ($8) was served as a little lettuce with a few sliced cherry tomatoes — The kalamata olives and other toppings were missing. Onion soup had a canned bullion taste. The Strip Steak special looked big, but was rimmed with about an inch of fat. A seafood pasta was topped with a generous portion of crabmeat, but would have been much better with a lighter sauce rather than the marinara. Our server was very nice, but she and the one other server were completely overwhelmed by the very full house. Our party of six were very unhappy with the entire experience. We won’t be back.

    The Fairview Cafe has a wonderfully rustic feel that serves to enhance your dining experience. It is a BYOB, so be sure to bring wine with you, if that is your thing. The staff is professional, kind and courteous. The appetizers and main course were cooked well, tasty and presented nicely. I had the rack of lamb, others at my table had steak, salad, salmon. Everything was good. I had my lamb medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. A nice caramelization on the outside and rare on the inside. Thank you for a great birthday experience.

    Some menu items were not available. Food served was only 'OK', not great. The usually variety or deserts was reduced to just one pie selection.... almost got the impression they are going out of business.

    Fairview Cafe is a BYOB establishment. No where in my open table information & reservation was this mentioned. Disappointed once we arrived and learned this. Ordered the mini crab cake appetizer - they were small and smelly. Bellas with bratwurst stuffing were nice. Ambience was lovely. Wait staff attentive. Food was mediocre.

    The food at Fairview Cafe is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options. I love the service at the place and the chef is so friendly with the guests and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place.

    It was a great night at the FV. From start to finish. Ambiance is beautiful. The dessert case when you first walk in makes you want to start there, lol! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Let me just say The chef out did himself, The food was top notch tonight. The fried goat cheese was delicious, Salmon cooked perfectly and Dessert ( Wow). Not only does the dessert look amazing when you walk in, it’s absolutely delicious. Great Night! Thank you FV, we will be back❤️

    Haven't been to this area in a while and was surprised to see a restaurant like this here. Decor is beautiful. Food is very good. But the service was pretty slow and couldn't/wouldn't allow splitting of the bill on the credit card. It' also BYOB which I didn't realize until we got there. So, knowing those and if you don't mind the wait and you're in the area, this is a great place to go to.

    Food was ok but nothing special, and the salad we ordered didn’t match the menu description (spinach was used instead of arugula). The service was horrible. We are sympathetic to staffing challenges these days, but if you are short staffed then you need to cut back tables and not hurt customers. We waited 15min before anyone took us to a table (despite a reservation and open tables), and it took another 15min to get water, despite asking twice. Then our waitress took our order, and when a different waitress took the order of the table next to us, we realized there was a list of specials and we were never told. We asked for more bread, which never came. And then when the bill came, we put our credit card out and after waiting 15min, finally pulled out cash so we could leave without waiting anymore. Staff were very nice, but it was a very poor experience all the way around.

    Service was terrible the last few times. Very slow. Food was mediocre - lamb chops had very little meat on them. Salmon was overdone. We used to love this place. I also had asked to be seated in the main room and when we got there, they said they don’t take requests via open table. I didn’t know that. We won’t be going back any time soon.
