Closed because of the fair, but I could make a reservation and was not notified. No signs at the door either to let me know they were closed.
My wife had the cod and I had a lobster dish. Both were very good. The waiter (Alex) I think, was very nice and checked on us but wasn’t annoying. Will go back.
Great experience! Kyle was awesome! It was a birthday and retirement celebration with 3 women, we enjoyed everything!
Oh and you get fried dough dessert with your lobster entree!
Bravo I would recommend this restaurant 🌞
Very good food. Had the famous lobster roll. Hmmm!!
Food was awesome... the waiter was great considering it was our first time we had angreat experience... can wait to go back woth friends and family
Server didn’t know how to use gift card for points. When open table was contacted they said the restaurant tried to use the cost of entire meal versus $25 like were told and shown on printed copy. We were not provided open table points even though we had reservations and were at establishment. Not going back anytime soon.
Lobster roll is beyond delicious. And the lobster bisque was good Even though the side of mac and cheese was ot their best work I will gladly eat there again and highly recommend it to anybody
Our server was the very best! The food was great too-and very reasonably priced. Wine left a bit to be desired, but overall great experience and we will return.
Friends had recommended this restaurant but some said it was "overpriced for what you got". We did not find this to be the case. In fact, we had an excellent meal, drinks and appetizer for a very reasonable price. My only negative remark would be that they could have presented the steak a bit nicer than just by itself on a huge white plate. Sounds silly but that would have been nice. Our server was friendly and on the ball and the food was all good. We will be back.
the food was great and the relaxed dinning area... oldschool charm
We LOVE this place!! Our favorite is the lobster roll. Tried the homemade Green Goddess dressing on our salads. It is ecellent.
We found this on Groupon. We had such a great experience we have gone back several times. Great food, great service. We have been happy every time we go. The place is small so reservations are recommended. We go for casual dining and special occasions.
Always pleasantly surprised. Good to reserve a table as we did. We had 3 very different entrees and they were all good. Ate in the bar room because of several large parties in the main dining area. Was more quiet and allowed private conversations.
Great seafood at a good value.
love the seafood . asked that the scallops be slightly charred. came out great. wife had the sea bass . very good. crab patties are also good.
best to make reservations.
their web site sometimes has $ off coupons.
Great service and good food. Pickled beets are a delicious side to good seafood
I always enjoy the FairGrounds Hotel, both for the food and the ambiance. It's a welcome relief from chain restaurants! It's also a good value for the quality of the food.
Great quality ingredients in food service
Lobster Rolls were very good....we were told about the Fairgrounds Hotel and didn’t know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Great value and a friendly atmosphere. Enjoy
EXCELLENT ALL AROUND !!!
AT THE TOP OF OUR DINING LIST
The seafood is very good. Everything else is mediocre. Good value.
Great seafood and atmosphere !!
Prices very reasonable !!
This is at the top of our go to list !!
You can go wrong !!
I purposely chose this restaurant because of the lobster rolls. When we ordered we found out that they were made with claw meat. We were very disappointed as we were both going to order that sandwich. We changed our minds and decided on the burgers. They were very good. Very satisfied.
Have eaten and done parties there frequesntly. Had a gift card and a coupon which I had called about during the day to see if I could use both and was assured I could. Until the bill came for a sorry
Awesome food at a great price!!!
Will def be returning !!!
Excellent food , price is good! Service was great and very pleasant . Love sitting outside and enjoying watching people go by . We would recommend it to anybody to try the Fairgrounds Hotel . We will be back soon !
It was just ok. I ordered the 8oz lobster another with 2 other people at my table. I received a much smaller one, when the server came back I said something, she took my whole plate and brought back the same plate a few minutes later... saying can she just bring another one out. That came at almost the time everyone was done eating and it was much smaller than the one I received. You would think that when you screwed up and gave me one 4oz that you you would just give me a 8oz size that I ordered and just forget about the 4oz screw up. But whatever. The other guest that didn’t order the lobster dinner seafood combo was over done and rice was cold. Server was New or at least she appeared to be... should be trained better.
Seafood was very good. We had a nice corner table. Not sure what was making noise but it sounded like people were bowling above us. That was the only negative comment I could make. Its been years since we’ve eaten here. It won’t be years til we come back.
We took our 90 year old mother( with walker) per her request out for Mother's Day.
She likes to eat at the booths in the bar.
Unfortunately we were not alone, as there were very loud drunk folks ( regulars) at the bar. Even with her hearing aids they were extremely loud , and disturbed our visit.
Perhaps the bar tenders could keep aware if this..... also to get her inside was a feat due to the lack of a ramp or easy access.
The positive was that she loved the early bird special crab cakes and our server.
Jill and Todd Stull
Atmosphere was not very quaint for an old hotel. It was bright and vinyl table cloths. The banging music from next door and the flashing lights made our date nite not so enjoyable. Prices were not cheap for the average food. Our server was very good however.
Would not recommend for a nice dinner.
Not at all crowded on a Friday night - can't imagine why. The food here was as good as always - the menu is kind of a throwback seafood (although they offer many other choices) I had my usual lobster roll with fries and coleslaw. It's excellent - really good New England style lobster roll with good crispy fries and really good coleslaw. With a draft IPA, it made for a nice Friday night dinner while watching sports on TV.
Our server was wonderful, accommodating, sense of humor. Will request him next time. His name was Alex
Very disappointed, we had a reservation for 4. We get there, they have us on the list and they ask me if we would be ok with a booth in the bar. I am sorry but if I wanted to sit in a booth in the bar I would not have made a reservation. They were clearly overbooked and were more concerned about serving “larger parties” (more money) than the 4 of us. Since it was a special occasion for my friend we decided to try the booth....way to small for 4 people. We decided to leave, I told the hostess who could care less. They were busy and made it very clear we did not matter. Will not be going back here and plan to let everyone know how we were treated. They need to understand that when a reservation is made, they need to honor it and not try to shove you in a booth. We invited our friends to dinner for a special accomplishment in her life, do you know how I felt after that.? Remember, people will forget what you did but not how you made them feel. This establishment made me feel very insignificant. (We have eaten here several times before, dropped quite a bit of money on Valentines Day I might add)
Our group had surf and turf, seafood combination, sea bass and chicken alfredo. Everything was delicious. You need to try their mac and cheese
I used to live in Allentown but had never been to this restaurant. It was delightful and the food was very good and very fresh sea food. When I mentioned to friends living in Allentown that I had eaten there, everyone said it is great and their favorite.
This was our second straight year to celebrate Valentine’s Day with dinner at “the grill”. Reservations were available and the food is good and reasonably priced. Service was good, friendly and prompt. You can choose the dining room or the bar area - either one is good. Nice comfortable neighborhood atmosphere
Great Valentine Day menu at a good price. Hess's strawberry pie was a throw back dessert.
Atmosphere was good and food was excellent.
We LOVE lobster rolls with brown butter. Lobster bisque thick & creamy with finely minced lobster-yum. Tonight, 1st time lump crab bit dry but still tasty. Great food, large portions, friendly staff...a winner!
Food was very good. My beef tips were on the bland side but everything else served was delicious. Excellent prices, they even have a menu with smaller sizes for under $15. Older crowd but hey I'm older too.
We prefer late-night dining, ala Spain, but at 8PM on a Friday evening, a bit early for us, all went well, and the food was well prepared and nicely served. Basically, this is a good spot for seafood (great Manhattan Clam Chowder) and friendly and accommodating service.
