We loved it! Service and food were fantastic, we felt very safe, and the only critique was that they were out of decaf espresso. Pretty awesome!
Nice West Village vibe sitting outside.
Food never disappoints. Neighborhood gem
Lots of charm in a beautiful Greenwich Village neighborhood. The food and service were outstanding. Patrons were having a wonderful time, and servers really seemed to enjoy working there. This is a warm and inviting restaurant that attracts many young people. It's a great choice when you're getting together with friends or family for dinner.
I recently moved back to the West Village, I walk by Extra Virgin daily and it’s always packed inside and out. I thought this a good indication that this was a delicious, hot spot. My bf and I finally went and were gravely disappointed with the overall experience. Underwhelmed with the execution of the dishes given the above average prices. Too loud inside to talk with my partner across the table from me. Service was average. Will not be back.
As usual, great experience. Love coming to Extra Virgin. Good is excellent. Service spot on
Food and drink were good but the service could be nicer.
I had heard about this place from a friend and was excited to try it. We asked for a table outside which was super easy to get, at any time on Labor Day, which should’ve been my first clue. We were underwhelmed. While they did allow us to have 5 people outside when they usually only allow 4, the rest of the dinner was sub par. The table was so sticky it felt like a glue trap. The server was incredibly annoyed with us when she screwed up our drink order, and she brought the check without asking if we were finished. Cute place, good ambiance. But not a place I would rave about or would go back to again.
Family visiting from abroad
Amazing as always, JR is the best!
The service was poor and when we complained to the manager that it took more than 45 mins to receive our entrees and that we were asked twice by staff if we’d received our appetizer yet - he replied that if we didn’t like the service we should punish the waitress and not give her a tip. BTW, the bill included a 20% gratuity which the waiter told us when we asked, was optional, even though it was included in the bill. It is clear that the successful restaurant isn’t really concerned about treating customers like customers - so be warned. If you enjoy feeling irrelevant and as if dining at a restaurant is them doing a favor for you all after a $200 dinner, try this place. The arrogance is stunning!
Always the best. We love Extra Virgin. It never disappoints.
We sat outside for lunch! Service was friendly and quick! Food was delicious- will definitely come back!
Best Bolognese in the City.
My favorite place but has really declined
Exquisite food, Ambiance and experience
The food was disappointing. The service and decor were great
Super expensive, appetizers ok, main courses of meat and pasta were God Awful. Service was lousy and the ultimate insult, the check included the tip. Really? They took 20% when it is I, that should have been tipped for eating this food.On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this place a minus 6 and a giant screw you for messing up my night
Look at your bill closely.
They ripped us off with additional charges by padding the total.
Great experience. Had a really wonderful meal with great service.
Our waiter Alex and the whole staff were very attentive to us and our puppy.
Meal was good but not crazy about sitting a a very tiny table next to the kitchen, I could have been home at a larger table and been more comfortable. I don't see tge point of eating out and paying goid money to be uncomfortable, but maybe they save that for people who book on open table . And a one point they turned the lights do so low it was ridiculous I literally could not see ny food or my bill without a flashlight.
Food was disappointing.
Our experience would have been amazing had the restaurant not taking a 1045pm reservation from us and then rushed us through our dinner. We were taking our children out for dinner we hadn’t seen them in two years wanted to catch up with them but instead everything was rushed we had to eat her food so fast that I ended up with a stomach ache. Wasn’t a good experience because I was so excited about having dinner here then my experience was ruined. My stepdaughter was eating her dinner and dessert at the same time because our host explained that everyone wanted to go home.
MY GUESTS (2) AND I HAD A GREAT TIME.
GREAT FOOD AND AMBIANCE AND WAITER=JR.
My friends and I came out together after a hard day at work and had such an amazing time. Carol was waiting on us and she was amazing! She was sweet and very on top of it, gave us the best recommendation for drinks and food and we truly enjoyed everything! We especially enjoyed the sides! Definitely recommend!
Very disappointing with the food here. We ordered and it came out faster than burger king. The place has gone way down hill.
Food was amazing, but the waitress was horrible with checking our table, also my bull came to 115 which was ok but when i received statement waitress gave herself an extra 15$ tip, when her tip was already in gratitude.
Sadly EV has declined recently. The food is not as good, with a more limited menu and lower quality ingredients, and the service has declined markedly as well. I hope they are able to bring it back, as otherwise they are just another brunch place in the west village.
It was good but over priced.
Reserved a table for 4 a week in advance and every timeslot was available. Arrived and they had saved us a table for 2 where half of the chairs sloped downwards because the sidewalk is uneven. We didn’t balk and were eventually moved, but it was a bad start to the evening. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The cocktails were amazing. But the food was sadly subpar, not just for the price, but for ANY price, except for the duo of gazpacho, which was good. Otherwise the tuna was a brick, the steak overcooked and oversauced, and the sea bass, meh. Not a good meal. Not at all.
Love this place
Met friends here for a catch up dinner. We got the Mac and cheese tart to start, I had the rigatoni bolognese which was great. I would go again as a back up plan, everything was good but nothing blew me away.
Food was absolutely incredible! Unfortunately, the outside area was swarming with mosquitoes due to the plants and we were bit the whole night.
Sad just so sad. Poor food nonexistent service and high prices
Excellent food and prep. Wonderful menu just a little noisy inside when crowded
We had gone there for a friends birthday and everything was spectacular ,and wasn’t a dish we tried that wasn’t delicious. And the dessert as well and the apple pie and vanilla ice cream was one of our favorite.
Had a reservation for 3 indoors. Arrived an hour early and asked the host if we could grab one of the two free tables outside. They said no as they were being held for reservations. We came back an hour later (at the time of our reservation) and those same two tables outside were still free. We asked if we could have one of them, and they offered us a small, cramped, reject table at the end of the outdoor seating area (partially in the rain) instead of offering us one of the nicer free tables that have been sitting open for over an hour now that we had specifically asked for.
We complained, manager finally moved us to one of the nicer tables, and then we proceeded to eat as we watched more and more outdoor tables becoming available. There was clearly no shortage of tables…
As a former maître d of a restaurant that would constantly overbook, seating 500-700 people per night, the lesson here is to always find a way to upgrade a table unless you know with 100% certainty that you are going to screw over an incoming reservation. Instead, you screwed over my party unnecessarily and gained nothing but a bad review.
Also, very shady that this restaurant has added an automatic 20% gratuity to all the checks without an obvious call out on the receipt that the customer is asked to sign. They even left the Tip line so that you accidentally double tip.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was full and looked overbooked. Reserved indoor seating but our table wasn’t ready until an hour after our reservation. Host offered outdoor seating as an option but it was 97 degrees out and preferred to be indoors. Portions were good, sea bass was tasty, outstanding hanger steak but the mahi-mahi was dry. We were confused with the steady service that our drinks arrived warm. Service was okay.
