After visiting Extra Virgin several times I brought my parents here, who were visiting from out of town, for a great meal. Such a disappointment. Terrible service, the host was extremely rude when seating us, and then gave severe attitude when they didn't have the wine we ordered. They were out of two different wines we ordered, and this was a Saturday night. And the food was awful. The pasta was cold and watery. The salmon was freezing cold and completely raw, the tuna was inedible. Overall it was just a very disappointing experience, which was really a shame. Probably won't be returning, which is a shame since I used to frequent the restaurant.
Very good food but- Too noisy! Terrible! Can’t hear, can’t talk!
Very nice as always l!
Playlist was like top hits from early 2010s
Extra Virgin was a perfect place for our group of eight diners. Our server, Madison, was amazing — anticipating our needs, helping out when one of our party was delayed, and generally helping to make the evening a blast for us all.
Had a very nice experience at Extra Virgin. I appreciated the host checking us in asked to see our vaccination card as well as ID. Service was excellent. Food was very good. I would recommend Extra Virgin as a very good local restaurant and will go back.
Group of six hungry gals in town for “culture.” Gracious service (individual checks) and yummy food.
Food is mediocre. Messy looking frittata with no sides. Most of the Garcia omelette was left. Cold and flavorless with a side of cold French fries. Guess you’re paying for the location and ambience so you can get away with presenting subpar food.
We had the most disrespectful and rude waiter I’ve ever had. It took him 15 minutes to come to our table after we sat down. When he came, we asked a question on what we were going to order and he got annoyed, tapped his pen and pad, and said I need to know what you are going to order now. Again, this was the first thing he said to us after sitting at the table with no service for 20 mins (didn’t even get water or anything at this point). It was such an unnecessarily rude interaction that we left. Maybe it was just one bad waiter…who knows but I’ll never go here again
Very disappointed with this place. The food was very ordinary for the price that you pay. Didn’t meet our expectations at all. We didn’t even finish our dinner and they told us to leave because they had 90 minutes dinner policy! On top of them being rude and inconsiderate they automatically added 20% tip to our bill without letting us know about it. Overall the place is not worth it.
Amazing scallop, mushroom chicken, and spicy taco plates! 10/10 would recommend!
Super chill, friendly staff, awesome food
Food was not very good. Nothing bad but this is nyc with a million delicious places. One of us didn’t even eat their dish
Very good brunch
My daughter entered the restaurant to check in and the host rolled his eyes at her (for coming in??). Not sure why having vaccine cards checked has to be met with such attitude. Saw this at many restaurants over the weekend but Extra Virgin seemed extra annoyed with us.There we’re very few parties as we were early for brunch.
I had the hue is rancheros and they were served cold. I couldn’t get past it as the eggs were a little runny and it just made it taste like cold mush. Really not good. I wouldn’t think of asking out server to reheat as she clearly was hoping to do the minimal with us. I ordered a coffee and it came in a small (cute) stainless steel mug and I was never offered a refill or warm up. Don’t serve brunch if you have to pay for a basic coffee refill.
Extremely underwhelming experience here. There was no value and we couldn’t leave fast enough.
Always a favorite!
Good food and a nice pour of very good wine. The seating was cramped and not too pleasant especially outside. Inside the darn music is way too loud. I never eat inside for that reason. Real loud and obnoxious music.
Seated right away despite one person being late. Drinks were very good.
Ordered Tuna Tartar & Spicy Tacos as Starters. Both excellent. Thursday Special (7 hr. Braised BBQ Lamb Shank was was outstanding. Meat falling off bone tender.
Unfortunately the Pan Roasted Striped Bass was N/A so, the Lemon Crusted Chilean Sea Bass was ordered. Other Entrees were Grilled Atlantic Salmon & Hanger Steak.
All said their meal was great. Had a great time. Extra Virgin's website indicates that tables are cleared after 90 minutes, but we were not rushed and stayed until we were ready to go. Maybe with indoor and outdoor available their is not the urgency to turn the tables as quickly. Our dining experience was outside and was fantastic and luckily we had a beautiful night. Would definitely come back and recommend.
The food was delicious and our server was so kind. Great experience and vibe.
Had an amazing meal. Neighborhood feel with 5 star quality food.
I love this place and though there were some issues with ordering drinks initially, the manager made us an amazing offer and I had an amazing birthday! Thank you!!
Music outside on the Sonos speakers was way too loud. And played a lot of inappropriate music. I do recognize this is not normally the case the Extra Virgin, but that night it was.
Lovely service but poor food. Reasonably priced for the neighborhood, but felt expensive considering that we didn't eat most of the food.
It was nice but the hostess was so incredibly rude. Other than that a good dining experience and was able to get a last minute reservation in the west village there.
We went to Saturday brunch and sat outside. Our server, Ryan, was amazing! He offered great recommendations, conversation, and service. We ordered the eggs Benedict, French toast, and vegetable omelet. All were terrific. After the meal, we booked another reservation for another brunch. It is a great location in the west village. Highly recommend.
They were out of Baileys for one of their signature drinks. Which was the reason we went there. They tried to substitute it ad added mint to a banana drink, it was horrible. Then we heard the staff jump because there was a mouse inside. The watermelon martini had some cucumber taste to it. All the restaurants should stop trying to make drinks exotic. The cucumber flavor was terrible. I've heard the food was good, but we were so disappointed we decided to leave. They didn't seem very concerned. I would not go back.
Chicken with sweet pea risotto and truffle doesn’t disappoint. Best dish on menu!
Great brunch spot in a cute restaurant in the West Village. I recommend that everyone try this place if you haven't been!
I’ve been coming here for years prior to the pandemic. The whole experience from service, to food, to drinks, has gone down the drain. Sad to see what happened to this place.
The staff all very pleasant as was the location on West 4th Street.
The food unfortunately was completely uninspired, especially for the price point. It was a meal I could have made myself with more flavor and fresher ingredients. The beets in the salad tasted as if they came out of a can and there was no bread with an Italian meal.
the service and meal was incredible! highly recommend the mussels and the daily special. wonderful experience esp with covid safety measures!!!
I appreciated the experience very much with my boyfriend. We look forward to coming back in the near future.
This has become a neighborhood go-to. We’ve never been disappointed. Service is sometimes slow but the fantastic food makes it worth the wait. Love the cozy outdoor seating.
Food and cocktails were amazing. Had the scallops and the mussels to start and the short rib for dinner- the seared tuna was great too. They don’t seat you until your whole party is there. Can’t wait to go back!
Unfortunately we were provided with a tiny circular table for 5 people. We could barely move our elbows to eat and the table had zero space for the food. Overall, uncomfortable brunch experience and outdoor seating is not suitable for larger parties.
We loved it! Service and food were fantastic, we felt very safe, and the only critique was that they were out of decaf espresso. Pretty awesome!
Nice West Village vibe sitting outside.
Food never disappoints. Neighborhood gem
Lots of charm in a beautiful Greenwich Village neighborhood. The food and service were outstanding. Patrons were having a wonderful time, and servers really seemed to enjoy working there. This is a warm and inviting restaurant that attracts many young people. It's a great choice when you're getting together with friends or family for dinner.
I recently moved back to the West Village, I walk by Extra Virgin daily and it’s always packed inside and out. I thought this a good indication that this was a delicious, hot spot. My bf and I finally went and were gravely disappointed with the overall experience. Underwhelmed with the execution of the dishes given the above average prices. Too loud inside to talk with my partner across the table from me. Service was average. Will not be back.
