Extra Virgin Restaurant
It says it’s a Mediterranean cuisine place but there was nothing Mediterranean there , except for the name. They have tacos, huevos rancheros, tuna tartare, steak on the menu. I assume it’s due to covid the menu is limited. Anyway. The food was mediocre. The service was good. They have outside seating area with heaters. Overall , it was okay experience, nothing special.
Food was delicious and service was great. Felt COVID safe and warm with heat lamps!
I came here on a date. We just came for dessert and cocktails which were both great! It was lovely inside when I went in to use the bathroom. The outdoors was very cold (which I know, it’s winter) but some tables had much more heat than ours. We dressed warm but the flap walls weren’t attached completely so every time the wind blew it came through a lot. After I lost feeling in my feet we decided to leave. Other than the cold, the server was very nice and attentive. I would give it another try when it gets a little warmer out.
Always glad to help my city
Hope we can go back to normal soon
We enjoyed the food
I will def go back for That French toast 😋
Christmas dinner during COVID season can be a challenge but even in the cold we had a seat under the heat lamp so it wasn’t bad. The holiday menu was delicious and I was a bit disappointed that they ran out of hot chocolate and the cheesecake but the food was delicious and me and my son wiped our plates clean.
Glad to support local black business
Extra-special dining experience at Extra Virgin! Wonderful outdoor seating on beautiful West Village street. My winter corn chowder, Branzino, truffle whipped potatoes and chocolate cake were all just amazing. Service was just fantastic. My first time eating there. Very happy Virgin diner!
Amazing heat lamps! Didn't even need to wear my coat in 30 degree weather. Also delicious espresso martinis!
We originally had reservations to sit inside but when we got there, we changed our minds and sat outside. It was nicely set up with barriers between each table and heat lamps so sitting outside in December wasn’t too cold. We ordered the falafel salad, short ribs, mushroom crusted chicken, Mac and cheese tart and fries with the Gorgonzola sauce. Everything was so good! I don’t think I’d order the Mac and cheese again because it was a little dry but we already can’t wait to come back!
Such a great place. Amazing food, amazing staff, such a charming atmosphere.
Pricey but great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Love it
The music was loud and terrible, and I’m 26. Food was very good - but the service was okay at best which you would not expect from a place with $6 sodas and the cheapest glass of wine being $16.
Had dessert here - the cheesecake & the choc cake was delicious. Always great here in general though.
Lovely meal! Food was wonderful. Even though we ate outside on a chilly night, the heat lamps made us comfortable. The tables were well spaced and we felt safe and well taken care of. Staff was attentive and we will definitely be back
We made a reservation for a party of 6 on Thanksgiving evening. We were not the easiest group to serve and to please- meat lovers, vegetarians and completely different taste pallets. Everybody from our party loved the ambience and the decor with brick walls and dim lights. We all felt that they did a great job implementing safety measures during pandemic. Some members of our party were really high maintenance, but the staff was really accommodating and extra patient. We all ordered from pre fixe Thanksgiving menu, which included appetizer, entree and dessert for $75 per person. Food was hands down fantastic. Even the fussy and critical individuals from our party were impressed. I loved the fact they have vegetarian options on the pre fixe menu- it was really difficult to find. As for the value- I personally thought $75 for a 3 course holiday meal in West Village wasn’t unreasonable, however we all agreed the drinks were definitely on the pricey side.
Overall, amazing experience and we will definitely be back.
Great thanksgiving Prix fixe. The traditional fair was excellent and so were the regular menu items.
Amazing thanksgiving meal! My friend and I made a reservation the day of and were so glad we did! The food was amazing! Love supporting black owned businesses!
I hate writing bad reviews but this restaurant totally warranted it.
The only good thing I can say about that place apart from decor was the host, the poor guy was running around and the only one noticing and serving customers.
The waitress and the bar lady were more interested in speaking with each other than serving customers.
To the bar lady, wear the mask properly in your face or take it off, don’t leave it hanging off your ear and then occasionally putting it on.
To the waitress that found it difficult to move away from the bar talking to the bar lady, I’m sorry if your not interested in serving customers, find another job, I work in the industry and I know hundreds of people who are desperate for your job and care and customer service.
Also check the music, totally wrong for the ambience of the restaurant.
I completely terrible experience except for the host.
Had a wonderful night out with friends.... we loved the food , drinks, social distancing and atmosphere. Looking forward to returning.
The waitstaff began running around clanking metal knives on metal water pitchers and screaming profanity.
Loved the outdoor seating and food was quite good. Would go again.
We booked for 4 inside but became a party of 6 and asked to be seated outside and they happily accommodates us. Exceptional service throughout the evening. Never rushed us. Food was great. Waitress’ recommendations were spot on. Ambiance as always was great. Service exceptional right to the end. Highly recommended for late night dining.
Our server was very rude when it came time to pay the bill. She said she couldn't split it for us - which is fine, not every restaurant does - but she circled back a minute later before we had time to calculate this ourselves, and then a second time a minute after that. It became very clear she was rushing us out of there, even though it did not look busy, nor had we been warned of a reservation coming in after us. It was also her interactions. Instead of a friendly "I'll try back", or "No problem," she once abruptly pivoted away from us, subtly flinging her hands up in frustration, with no word at all. Does she think that wearing a mask makes us blind to this body language? I have worked in service, and I know there is no excuse for this. Instead of a nice ending to an overdue catch-up with friends, we had to manage this server's moodiness. Even though Extra Virgin had been on my list to try, this memory sours my desire to return there.
I loved this dining experience. What a fantastic menu, and energy. I love the host as well, always makes you feel welcome. Must eat here!!
One of the best experience of outdoors dining during Covid era✨❤️ All Staff make you feel like friends hosting you at their home. Tasty meals and beautiful ambience
The meal was great and the service was awesome and welcoming.
We recently spent a terrific Sunday evening at Chef Joey Fortunado's Weat Village place. It was great to get out and dine again! We opted to sit insde, where the noise level was very conducive to conversation. There is also a great outdoor sidewalk setup with heat lamps, greenery and separators among all tables. Our appetizers included the Spicy Shrimp Tacos, beautifully presented and bursting wth flavor, and the super fresh and delicious Ahi Tuna Tartare. Classic Italian entrees included rich and complex Rigatoni Bolognese and, since it was Sunday, the (homemade recipe) Spaghetti and Meatballs. It is no wonder these are a house specialty. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the enormous meatballs are a delicious anmd spicy combination of veal, pork and beef. Service is very knowledgable, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!
JR IS AMAZING! Thank you for making our experience so fun and enjoyable.
Nice lunch. I was impressed with the amount of food and the overall quality of the dishes. I’ll be back
Extra Virgin was great! We went during the covid-19 pandemic and the outdoor set up in early October when it was a bit chilly was lovely! They have covered outdoor seating with dividers between tables and heat lamps. Ig was very comfortable but still had an enjoyable ambiance. Food and cocktails were incredible!!! The waiter was kind enough to bring over birthday shots for the table. We had a wonderful evening at extra virgin! Highly recommend for a friends get together or intimate date night!
The food wasn't as good as it should have been for the price.
The waiter was lovely.
love JR. the b meatballs are beyond compare. fat and delicious
Amazing food, service, drinks and overall vibe!!!!
Our waiter was amazing and the outdoor seating is very well done. Thank you for such a great afternoon!
Extra Virgin was my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood for years, but it's gone downhill, unfortunately. We started with the house salad which I've liked very much in the past. Instead of a light olive oil/lemon based dressing, it was dripping in vinegar. I had my go to meal, the sea bass, which was not up to par. It was served lukewarm with torched artichokes that weren't edible even for an artichoke lover. My boyfriend's steak was better with a rich sauce. The bread and olive oil were still great, but you have to ask for it.
Wine is expensive, but I've gotten used to that living here. Ambiance still really nice as was the service. All in all, I wasn't impressed for the price.
I went to Extra Virgin for dinner with a few girlfriends and loved my food. I also found the ambiance to be great -- it was glowy and cozy, and not too loud. It would be perfect for a date, too. Considering it's in the West Village, I love that they take reservations and tend to have availability. It's a tried-and-true option when you want to plan ahead!
amazing place, love their food!! the salmon was excellent!!
Their grilled tuna was probably the best I've ever had. I will be making a return trip soon
Consistent quality and service. Never disappoints.
The ambiance, the food, the actual space ... amazing!!! We got the scallops for an appetizer, which I highly recommend. They were cooked to perfection with an incredibly well thought addition of creamed cauliflower. I even heard the phrase uttered “best meal of the year... not 2020 but 365 days” from my foodie date. I highly recommend.
Energetic restaurant tight on space. I recommend the pistachio crusted goat cheese salad and the short rib tacos; both were excellent and plating was creative.
