Loved this place. Great food and service.
the food was delicious -- we ordered three different entrees and all were excellent --
two things -- the service was not strain and the atmosphere could be improved with a little more lighting -- the tiny candles did not illuminate enough to appreciate the presentation. And the broken calla lily in the cloudy water was a tad unpleasant.
But would I go back -- you bet! and probably request an outside table or sit in the turquoise room.
Incompetent service, excellent dishes
Food was amazing!!! Vibes were ever better. I had my birthday dinner there. Great place to get good food and celebrate.
The hostess didn’t check me in for the reservation so it got flagged as a no-show. Other than that, amazing time!! Sitting outside on a beautiful day is perfect.
We were a little late to our reservation because of the trains, and told our server we needed to leave by 7pm to catch a show. That gave us about 70 minutes to eat. Our food did not come out of the kitchen until 6:45pm. When I asked to speak to the manager, the waitress told me "its not my fault." When I spoke to the manager, he told me verbatim: "it's not my fault you were late, it's not my problem you have somewhere else to be. Here's my card, now go write us a bad review."
Well, here's my bad review. I was shocked by that response from management. I also work at a restaurant in Manhattan and would never dare to say something like that to someone who just spent $160 in the restaurant, or any amount of money for that matter. I also know that there was some problem or miscommunication because for food to take that long with a half empty restaurant is so unacceptable. I will never go back, will never have a good thing to say, and will never recommend it to anyone I know.
Good atmosphere, good food, small space.
Food was good but not something I can not get elsewhere.
Space is too small for wait staff to accomplish their duties appropriately. Reservations are oversubscribed you feel rushed to eat your meal the tables next to us turned over twice in an hour, while many people waited in the small space for their reservation.
All 4 entrees were cooked perfectly (all different fish dishes)
Martini (traditional dirty) was perfectly balanced.
Service was truly unbearable. 20 min until asked if we wanted water. And downhill from there. Upside was everyone was v nice. No rude service. Bottom line. If you are not in a rush, and don’t mind getting up to ask for a glass of wine to drink with your meal or to pay your bill, this is a fabulous meal.
Went there for brunch and the menu was pretty basic for egg dishes. Food was nothing amazing for what they charged. Service was great until the check came. They want you out so it was hard to get water refilled.
Great Atmosphere. Attentive service. Lots of options on the menu for us ... chicken and lamb entrees were delicious. Thank you ... we will be back
The place was crowded and packed - service was terrible and the manager was pushy and rushed
The host was pretentious and rude and the staff was clearly trying to rush us out of there. Even asked to clear our plates while I was eating, but we got to sit outside on a beautiful spring day and the atmosphere was so nice and despite the looks from the staff we took our time and enjoyed ourselves. The food and drinks were really good and my friend and I had a great time. I would come back -- I don't mind holding my own against some snobby staff.
The service is neglectful, but the food is good.
They have a hard time accommodating food intolerance. Everything has butter in it - odd for a place named after olive oil. The ahi tuna app was way too cold (almost frozen). The dinners were okay but not great. The drinks were good. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the ingredients. There is a general staff arrogance - when you arrive they treat you like you are lucky to be eating there.
LOVE!!!! My Favorite!
Always a good time.
Extra Virgin is a good restaurant to go. Their turkey burger is delicious. Cappuccino could be better. Service is great and the ambience is cool.
Still one of my fave places in NYC. Always a warm environment, and never a false note w/ the food. Can't recommend it higher.
The food is fine, nothing to get excited about. I had the Virgin Fritatta at Saturday brunch. But the prices are appropriate, and the servers pleasant. It seems to be popular with tourists, and they are welcome to it. A little bit of West Village charm.
Like most things in the Village, Extra Virgin is tiny and older ok the inside. And compared to other places, the staff (we had) were a bit LA-snotty. But the food is incredible and worth the trip. Generous portions and authentic flavors.
Understated, but excellent food. They nailed the sea bass!
Service was extremely slow. Otherwise everything was great!
The food sucks and the host is ALWAYS abrupt and rude
Great spot for a group brunch with good food and solid cocktails
Small and always busy but they have great food. Good for a date or small group
Food came before drinks. Food itself was outrageously priced for quality.
Good food and service. Drinks can be pricey ( $ 16 for a glass of rose’ Prosecco ? ).
We adore Alex Guarnaschelli, so we made a reservation at her restaurant while in NYC for Spring Break. Friendly and attentive staff, delicious dinner, and decadent desserts (SO worth it!) made for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!!!
Was just ok.
Used to love this place. It’s gone way downhill :(. Had a 945 reservation and had to order right away bc kitchen was closing - this is NYC not rural Kansas. Then bar closed at like 1015. Then the staff blasted Whitney Houston for the entire time I was there. When I complained I heard someone from the team say - what’s his problem? My problem is that a restaurant should create a welcoming environment for its guests. Extra Virgin used to do that really well. Apparently that time has ended.
While our food server was very lovely, the hostess and bartender were extremely rude.
Food was bland
Amazing food in a great setting. Would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Food was pretty good, but waiter was slow to respond and originally charged us for double the number of drinks we had until we pointed it out and fixed it. Note to check your bill!
Nice West Village Latino place. Corn taco is soup-berb.
Our server was pretty non attentive and forgetful.
The food has always been really good here, but unfortunately the service is really terrible. The staff can be rude. It took 30 mins for us to get our drinks. We had ordered drinks and our server returned to take our dinner order. Our entrees showed up before our drinks arrived. This is the 3rd time this has happened. Its really disappointing and this place is not cheap either. I would expect better service from Extra Virgin. I am not sure if we will be returning.
Another example of how many great options there are in the village. Found this place randomly on google maps + opentable and had exceptionally good appetizers and mains. Thought it was a little pricey but then the portions were incredibly fair and more importantly, delicious. Main events were the butternut squash ravioli - one of the best pasta dishes I've tasted in a while - and the artichoke parmesan salad appetizer. Aside from the food being great, was just a comfortable setting and overall enjoyable experience.
