We recently spent a terrific Sunday evening at Chef Joey Fortunado's Weat Village place. It was great to get out and dine again! We opted to sit insde, where the noise level was very conducive to conversation. There is also a great outdoor sidewalk setup with heat lamps, greenery and separators among all tables. Our appetizers included the Spicy Shrimp Tacos, beautifully presented and bursting wth flavor, and the super fresh and delicious Ahi Tuna Tartare. Classic Italian entrees included rich and complex Rigatoni Bolognese and, since it was Sunday, the (homemade recipe) Spaghetti and Meatballs. It is no wonder these are a house specialty. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the enormous meatballs are a delicious anmd spicy combination of veal, pork and beef. Service is very knowledgable, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!
JR IS AMAZING! Thank you for making our experience so fun and enjoyable.
Nice lunch. I was impressed with the amount of food and the overall quality of the dishes. I’ll be back
Extra Virgin was great! We went during the covid-19 pandemic and the outdoor set up in early October when it was a bit chilly was lovely! They have covered outdoor seating with dividers between tables and heat lamps. Ig was very comfortable but still had an enjoyable ambiance. Food and cocktails were incredible!!! The waiter was kind enough to bring over birthday shots for the table. We had a wonderful evening at extra virgin! Highly recommend for a friends get together or intimate date night!
The food wasn't as good as it should have been for the price.
The waiter was lovely.
love JR. the b meatballs are beyond compare. fat and delicious
Amazing food, service, drinks and overall vibe!!!!
Our waiter was amazing and the outdoor seating is very well done. Thank you for such a great afternoon!
Extra Virgin was my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood for years, but it's gone downhill, unfortunately. We started with the house salad which I've liked very much in the past. Instead of a light olive oil/lemon based dressing, it was dripping in vinegar. I had my go to meal, the sea bass, which was not up to par. It was served lukewarm with torched artichokes that weren't edible even for an artichoke lover. My boyfriend's steak was better with a rich sauce. The bread and olive oil were still great, but you have to ask for it.
Wine is expensive, but I've gotten used to that living here. Ambiance still really nice as was the service. All in all, I wasn't impressed for the price.
I went to Extra Virgin for dinner with a few girlfriends and loved my food. I also found the ambiance to be great -- it was glowy and cozy, and not too loud. It would be perfect for a date, too. Considering it's in the West Village, I love that they take reservations and tend to have availability. It's a tried-and-true option when you want to plan ahead!
amazing place, love their food!! the salmon was excellent!!
Consistent quality and service. Never disappoints.
Their grilled tuna was probably the best I've ever had. I will be making a return trip soon
The ambiance, the food, the actual space ... amazing!!! We got the scallops for an appetizer, which I highly recommend. They were cooked to perfection with an incredibly well thought addition of creamed cauliflower. I even heard the phrase uttered “best meal of the year... not 2020 but 365 days” from my foodie date. I highly recommend.
Energetic restaurant tight on space. I recommend the pistachio crusted goat cheese salad and the short rib tacos; both were excellent and plating was creative.
The food was good, but it was SO loud in here on a Saturday night - club music was pumping and I couldn't hear the person across the table from me. Was expecting something a little more chill for a West Village neighborhood restaurant. If you're young and like to yell when you eat and sit 2 inches from your neighbor and basically be pushed out as fast as they can for a turnover- cool! But not my style.
The best! Always greeted with open arms of Jean Renee! He is the best!!
Love sitting at the bar before dinner, always a friendly crowd and bar tenders.
Can always count on freshly prepared food- ravioli is the best!
The food was excellent, the drinks very good, the service good and the ambiance charming. The noise level was a little much, but it's a small restaurant in the Village!
All the dishes were well-prepared and presented. One diner ordered the fish tartare and pronounced it excellent. I was disappointed by the turkey burger with asparagus and mushrooms, for the ingredients didn't add much to the taste. Also, it was too large a portion.
All food we ordered was exceptional. Mussels were on a level we only saw in coastal regions of France, and the goat cheese salad was both innovative and tasty. We ordered different types of fish for the main course, and both the salmon and mahi-mahi were delicious.
The only negative is the background music that was too loud and made us shout. This place is not a discotheque, so there's no logical explanation. Also, the seating is extremely tight...
Food was excellent, service was not
Besides the amazing cocktails , the host is fabulous !! Always pleasant, sense of humor and accommodating. Thanks
Extra Virgin was the exact ambiance and energy level we were looking for on a Sunday. Cute interiors, comfortable seating, great food & drinks. Service was standard for West Village area. Definitely could increase their enthusiasm to match the positive vibe the restaurant gives off. Our server didn't really smile at all - but other then that, it was a great Sunday Brunch spot.
We loved the food and drinks but sadly experienced below average service. Even thought we had a reservation we waited for 30 min for our table.
The food was great but the drinks were awful. Definitely grab a beer or glass of wine over the cocktails!
I ordered the turkey burger, it came cooked with a long black hair inside it. Sticking out one end then cooked inside and the other end sticking out. I sent it back with noI real issue, it was gross but I understand things happen.
The second one came out as my husband was almost done eating, i found ANOTHER hair in it as I was eating it. Long black hair cooked INSIDE the party. Unacceptable. They took it off the bill but in my opinion that wasn’t enough.
Will not be dinning here again. Forgot to mention we went here for my husbands birthday.
The food was good, as always. But we booked a 9pm reservation and we weren’t seated until almost 9:30pm. There was no where to wait except for by the front door and we were pushed brought constantly both by guests and staff.
I loved the food and the location. Decor was nice, but it was just a little too tightly packed for comfort.
Food was excellent but we booked weeks ahead and ended up w faux table — table placed in middle of high traffic area — it obviously did not belong.
The food was delicious and the service was great, but we felt we were being rushed out by management I guess because they were very busy and they wanted people to sit at our table.
The best, coziest and all around wonderful place for a perfect date night!
Great vibe at this buzzy little Village gem. Staff are very attentive and food is solid. Can't go wrong.
Service was not the best.
We were seated early in the evening an as we waited for a waitress to come and take our drink order, the places filled up.
About 40 minutes later although we had ordered our main course we noticed almost everyone else around us, most who came in well after we were there were eating and our table was empty.
Ordered tuna tartar as an appi and received the tuna main course instead.
Cute place but crappy service. Will not return!
Waited a long time even though we had a reservation, but host was nice and we ended up getting a seat at the bar.
Good place for a girlie gathering and catch up with friends. The food is always homely.
Outstanding food and service. Would definitely return. Would like to try their brunch
Great staff, service and amazing food. Our first time there with a table full of foodies. Everything was great!
Delicious food in a cozy setting.
Very good overall. A bit noisy and crowded for me, but my friends didn't mind.
We ordered 2 bottles of red wine and the wine was served very very cold. So cold there was condensation on the bottles. So cold we could not taste the wine. Red wine should not be served cold.
