We had a party of 10 for a brunch. The service was great! We had a toddler in the group and the staff offered special menu items for her. Overall the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our meals were all delicious! It was a first time brunch visit for everyone in the party and we would all visit again.
I loved the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We enjoyed snacks off the bar menu and the service really made our night. Our server was polite, accommodating and ready with recommendations. The bar staff also helped to make ours a special evening. Would absolutely recommend to a friend!
Great food great service. What I really like about this place is there is music playing. It you can hear the people at your table speak. It isn’t a loud restaurant and the food is excellent with a good variety. We took a few
Friends from out of town and they loved it and so did we. Highly recommended.
Outstanding service and food
We eventually only had 7 people turn up and each and every one was pleased with their meal.
Love Exile! Perfect place for a simple meal with friends or a celebration!
Great service and great food
It would be worth eating at Exile for the background music alone, but the breakfast menu and service are also excellent.
Had the baked Cod. Excellent!
It was a lovely night out. We felt at home.
A fantastic meal with professional service. Best dining experience we have had in awhile!!
A beautiful location with consistent theming and staffed by people who give a damn and go above and beyond to make your drinks and meals something special. If I had one complaint it’s that too many things are served on Not Plates. A piece of wood is not a plate and while it looks nice it’s weird to have a dessert served on a porous and visibly well used not plate is weird. Was chocolate on this last night? Maybe hot sauce? Something I’m allergic too? Yuck. But we were both incredibly happy with everything else and will be back for more than just a special occasion.
Had the Smoked Salmon Bruschetta for appetizer. It was nice but there was TOO much balsamic vinegar on it, which greatly over-powered the rest of the ingredients, particularly the salmon. It only needed a drop or two of balsamic, not 8-10 drops And they should have been placed on the side of the dish..... Had the Halibut as main , served with a purées corn, very nice main .... Overall, I’d give the meal a 8/10. A little pricey from my perspective but I would recommend the place.
Overall we really enjoyed our evening at Exile. The service was fantastic. The food was delicious but a little on the salty side though. I didn’t get the exact drink I ordered but it was still really good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food service was very slow today.
I ordered an omelette. When it finally arrived it was over cooked.
The glass bottle of water on the table was unclean. The server acknowledged that it was unclean replaced it with apologies.
Our party was about 10 minutes late on their arrival so a few of us got seated before the rest arrived. However that seemed to give the servers the right to ignore us for the better part of 20 minutes after our full party had arrived before we were offered any drinks besides some table water. By the time we eventually ordered over an hour had gone by before we got our food and drinks. The servers were attentive when at the table but there were very long stretches between. The restaurant was moderately busy but no excessively so for a large hotel restaurant on a Saturday morning during tourist season.
We really liked the atmosphere and the decor and found the table and chairs very comfortable. Three of us ordered eggs benedict but we all found the hollandaise tasting strange and too spicy. One of us had an allergic reaction and had to return the dish. That was handled very well by our server who ordered another dish of his choice immediately and we were not charged for the original order which we appreciated. The recipe used for eggs benedict, specially the hollandaise, should be checked for taste, spiciness and allergens (i.e. nut oil vs butter).
Excellent as usual! Friendly staff and delicious food.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback! We are delighted that your overall experience was a pleasant one and hope that you may dine with us again :)
We enjoyed the food and ambience very much.
We will return!
We greatly appreciate your positive review and hope that you will visit Exile again in the future!
Food was amazing
Gets a bit loud but was a fun atmosphere
Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your Exile Dining experience and hope you will dine with us again in the future :)
Great atmosphere Cod with black rice risotto was excellent and perfectly cooked. Puttanesca pasta was very good, fresh noodles good flavor. Would pass on the zucchini fritters as really a fried dough whi h a fritter walked by. Need appetizer (another table besides us had it) looked excellent and they raved about it
We are so happy to hear that your Exile experience was a positive one! We are always coming up with new and improved options for all service times and we would love to know what you think! We hope you may visit with us again :)
Eggs Benny to die for and a sweet as pie server makes for an awesome brunch :)
Everything was very good except the dessert. The lemon cake was dry and hard, possibly stale.
Food was amazing had the salmon and the vanilla cheesecake with orange chocolate for dessert perfect
Service and service was excellent ... tables are too close to each other. Hard to have a private conversation
Our waiter Megan was fabulous. Food, cocktails, and wine was all great. Great atmosphere.
It was an evening out with my two sisters. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed our dining experience . We will definitely use this restaurant again!
Service was very good. Food was good but a little pricey. We had to wait a long time for our meals, even though the restaurant was not particularly busy.
Food is ok but expensive. Service is always terribly slow. They never have enough people working when we go there. They have a captive audience being a hotel restaurant so don’t really care I guess..
We went to Exile for a celebration - we have been many times and have always had wonderful food and loved the atmosphere. However, on this occasion our server ruined the experience by saying something that was demeaning and incredibly inappropriate. It left us angry and incredibly disappointed. We won't be returning for quite awhile if ever.
We love exile, it’s our go to for a night out 😊
We found it overpriced. We had booked 8 days in advance but still had to discuss where we should sit. The menu choices were adequate, not extensive, and my wife’s salmon meal was cold when it arrived. They reheated it willingly but this simply should not happen at such an upscale restaurant. The staff were excellent. A year ago I had a great lunch there, so this was very disappointing.
Valet parking in St. John’s is a bit of a joke, we are not New York! Pretentious.
Greta food and great service. This place is consistently good- a lot of the business crowd come during lunch so I would recommend reservations.
I have been going to Exile for years. Over the past 5-8 months it was going downhill - the menu and food. But it has improved greatly! Will return. I usually go there once a month
Depends on what meal. The dinner menu is best.thanks
I like the menu. They always try to add some local flavor (moose, lamb, pot pies etc.). We've never had a bad experience.
We arrived on time for our reservation and were greeted and seated right away. We sat down for almost 10 minutes before we were greeted by someone who brought over water and said our server would be right with us and took a drink order for us. It was almost 25 minutes until we received our drinks and our server came over and apologized for our wait.
It seems that it was too busy for the amount of people they had in the restaurant to the amount of staff they had on. Being a server myself I know we were disappointed with the length of time it took to be served.
Once our server came over she was very friendly and personable and the food was great. Just started off a little disappointing when we already had a later reservation.
Staff was friendly but service was very slow considering that the restaurant was not particularly busy and dining room staff level appeared to be adequate. One menu item that one of our party ordered was unavailable, this was surprising given that the item is obviously popular on the Sunday brunch menu. Two of us ordered Eggs Benedict, they were cooked as ordered but were not hot when delivered, perhaps because they were not served promptly and the plates were not warmed. These are easily remedied deficiencies but they do need management attention. I could not recommend this restaurant to friends except with cautions.
The server was attentive and the food was great. Love the atmosphere.
