Welcome to Exhale Oceanside!

We recently gave our Menu a makeover. We are now serving wood fired comfort food with American and world influences. Using the finest white oak we are wood firing, or grilling just about everything. Chef Daniel Pundik's creative and playful approach to food satisfies every range of taste. Our menu has flavors covering a variety of cultures and styles. Wether you like burgers, seafood, veggies, pizzas or are a fan of open flame cooking, our menu has something for everyone!

Unique mix of flavors, nice service people and upscale, ultra casual atmosphere. Truffle butter biscuits are to die for. Baked brie and street corn style cauliflower dishes are delicious. Scallops were divine. I am going to enjoy eating my way through the new menu.

One of many trips for me. Very interesting and tasty food. “Modern Mexican “. Very good for sharing. Service has been excellent to above and beyond. Atmosphere a bit sterile and seating bit uncomfortable. Well worth the trip.

Loved the whole experience, the waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable, the background music was great and the food was awesome. We had the guacamole and chips for starters, the pepper crusted tomahawk steak and fish and chips with yucca tots for the main dishes. Both entrees were cooked to perfection. Will definitely make a return visit

Love this place! Everything we order was awesome..drinks were skinny thoughts and the ain't going down. Then mex street corn, adobada prom belly taco, smoked half chicken, and the kicker was the mex CHAPULINES (spicy crispy grasshoppers) Flatbread! Everything was tasty, wonderful and superb!

Second time dining here. First time with my wife. Booked a reservation on Open Table and it wasn’t clear that all reservations are for outdoor seating. We did it want to sit outside since it was a bit chilly. Front desk staff was very nice but was only able to sit us at a window counter not a table. That was really our only disappointment. The food was amazing in particular the Yellow Tail Collars. And the drinks didn’t disappoint whatsoever. Looking forward to going back again.

This was our first visit to Exhale, we very much enjoy their sister restaurant LTH.
What a wonderful experience. We went to brunch on Sunday. We were there early and beat the crowds. The design is awesome, and it feels open and airy. We sat on the inside and there are also a lot of tables outside. The service was outstanding! Our server, Ireland, was delightful, very impressive. The bartender also came over to say hello and she was sweet and knowledgeable.
And lastly, the food was incredible. I had the chicken mole breakfast burrito and literally could only eat a little more than half. Huge, but wonderful. My wife had the Chile rellano, also great.
Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Could not accommodate the reservation inside, but we did get to experience the indoor-outdoor feeling of the paired dining window encounter. That worked just great. Delightful meal, fresh take on Mexican-style dining. Infused with lime and lemon, the salad was both spicy and flavorful, hot and chilled, with creamy dressing set against the grilled chicken. Great tastes.

Came here for girls night. Their cocktails are amazing- try the new skinny or aloe with black rock salt. Their food was beautiful for Oaxacan food across the border- quesadilla is ginormous- some items shined more than others- try the squid ink shrimp tacos NOT the masa friend chicken tacos, get the queso fundido with chorizo not the mushroom and onions, get the guacamole with crab, the branzino fish and chips, esquites, skip the bacon wrapped relleno. Don’t skip on Dessert- churros with buttermilk gelato! Parking is somewhat a challenge - street or neighborhood parking - no parking allowed at their sister restaurant across the street- LTH. Overall excited it’s in Oceanside and can’t wait to try other items off their menu and brunch menu as well!!!!

We love the brisket Flatbread and the trumpet mushroom flatbread. It’s a very thin Maza crust (Corn) heaped high with fresh yummy ingredients. Very unusual, new, and very tasty. It has a Mexican name I can’t pronounce or spell but eat it, I can! We go at least once a week.

the location of this restaurant on S. Ocean is a challenge when it comes to noise. I enjoyed the food very much but the traffic was way too loud to be able to focus on our conversation.

The food was not good at all. We have lived in Oceanside for a very long time and love LTH so we’re hoping exhale was going to be just as good.

We both ordered the tacos, one bite and we were done. Lacking in flavor and the blue corn tortillas were dry and tasteless. There was too much going on the plate

Exhale is quite new. They have no known phone number. Very trendy, creative mexican food, all very good. Creative craft drinks, but they are pricy. Great casual place for scharing foods with friends. Try everything. Nothing I haven't liked. You must be open minded to sharing your table, but that is fun sometimes. I'll go again.

This was our fourth or fifth visit. Very good. We've seen some unfavorable reviews, but not sure really why. Yes, the menu is different but will a little study it is fun to "interpret". Just a fun/different place.

Unimpressive. We ordered various tacos, cauliflower, chili rellenos - i would not recommend any of the dishes. I can see how they tried to replicate the Loteria Grill’s model but the food is locking the flavor, seasoning, salt. Frankly, Chipotle has more flavor. The ambience would probably be ok if the food and drinks were great - when you seat at the patio you look at Smog shops parking lot. The positive takeaway is that service was super fast - to the point that chili relleno was still partially cold inside.

Definitely not worth coming back.

The food was really interesting and tasty! (The cocktails looked good too, although I didn't have one this go round.) I wish it hadn't been quite as noisy, as it was hard to hear people from across the table. I will go back!

We were excited to try out this new Mexican restaurant close to home. What attracted us was the Oaxacan influence to the cuisine. Especially the Tlayuda. We found it to be very fresh and tasty, though not made like a traditional one. Still it was very good. Jasmine was a delightful server, helpful in managing our special requests. We don't eat beef or pork, and there was no chicken Tlayuda on the menu. However, the special dish of the day was half a roast chicken. She asked the chef if they could prepare a Chicken Tlayuda for us and they did! We brought our own bottle of wine, and the corkage fee was very reasonable. We dined late Saturday afternoon, which was good to go early as the crowd picks up by 5:15 and the restaurant gets very noisy. Overall, for us it was a very good value.

We liked the ambiance and also the open kitchen. Until I saw one of the cooks scratch his face and then continue to handle the food. Food handlers need to be trained better and know if they touch their body, they need to wash their hands immediately.
The cups were good, salsa was just ok and rather bland, the guac was ok.
My friends ordered the empanadas, which they loved. We ordered the beet tacos, which should’ve been named “potato tacos.” The beets were almost non-existent. Definitely not worth the money or more importantly, my time.

Made a reservation to be safe, once we arrived there were no tables reserved for my party, so we had to wait. Seemed a little unorganized. Food was okay I think we ordered wrong. Drinks were amazing! I’ll be back to try more food!

Everything was great. Their were six of us and we all loved our food and service. I would definitely recommend. Our waitress was from Nashville but I can't remember her name. She was exceptional.

The appetizer and entrees were excellent. The desserts were both burned and returned, the replacement was undercooked and not eaten. The service was acceptable, except for the attitude when the desserts were rejected. The tacos are well thought out and interesting, certainly not taco shop fare.

New restaurant in Oceanside was happy with experience. Food was unique and delicious. The specialty cocktails were pricey but well worth it. Our server was helpful with ordering and provided efficient service. Would definitely come back and try more items on the menu.

Nice atmosphere and the service was excellent and very attentive. The food was disappointing. We had empanadas which ended up being filling in a tortilla folded in half and fried. Other food was just not so tasty. Drinks were good and some unusual and fun. Kind of expensive for what we ordered.

We arrived promptly on a Monday night at 6:30pm, the exact time of our reservation. When we checked in the hostess said we could sit outside, (the temp was 49), cold for San Diego weather. We said no, it was clearly too cold to eat outside. She said the wait could be a few minutes to a half hour, we said we would wait. We waited for a half hour and no one was leaving. I went back to the hostess and asked her the wait time, she said she didn't Know, and for her tone, she couldn't care either. We saw three chairs available at the window counter, we took them. Five minutes later they sat three people next to us and opened up the floor to ceiling window, We all put our coats back on. I asked to speak to the mgr. to get the window closed, she was unavailable. From the time we finally ordered it took 30 minutes to get our appetizers, the 4 minutes later our main courses came, with no room for the plates. The food descriptions on the menu looked fantastic, the reality, mediocre. The Quesadilla with Squash Blossoms, tasted like a regular quesadilla you could get at any of hundreds of Mexican restaurants in San Diego. The tacos had meager filling.The bottom line, be prepared to wait, they don't honor reservations, the couple in front of us didn't get seated for an hour. The hostess was abysmal , the wait staff was poorly trained. The worst service experience in my five years in San Diego. You want great tacos and really tasty Mexican food, go to Puesto in La Jolla, its worth the drive.

$150 for a Mexican style dinner for 2 people was kind of steep. I also made a reservation and was sat at a bar/outside seat with a roll up garage door, and it was freezing out that evening. The issue is I couldn’t close it because there would be no space for our plates of food. Food was ok, drinks good. Just found it kind of expensive for the value received.

We tried several appetizers instead of entrees. The fundido with rajas was full of flavors. The yellowtail cheeks were the best choice. Amazing glaze on top-melt in our mouths. Squash blossoms in brown mole was a bit spicy but so good. Would come back but maybe a time we could sit outside since the noise level was oppressive.

Need to refine the menu...ate at you sister restaurant across the street, LTH, and the food was outstanding. Expect that Exhale will get to this level with time.
