EVO Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated my boyfriends 38th birthday there on Thursday night and I believe our servers name was Audrey. She was amazing! We are vegetarians and she helped us pick the perfect amount of food. We also LOVED the gooey butter cake!!! We will be back soon for sure. Great service!
Overall, our evening was pleasant with good food and a great value. Our waitress, however, was a bit sloppy, removing cocktails before they were finished, forgetting orders we placed, and then adopting an attitude when called out on her mistakes. Maybe she just had a bad night. We will return to EVO and encourage others to try!
We loved the food in this place and we were still talking about it the next day!! However (and a significant however), the service was really terrible. The gal who waited us on appeared not to have restaurant experience. It was so dark in the restaurant when we arrived (6 pm) and, because there was only 1 other couple (at the bar), we asked if they could turn up the light "a little bit" -- she forgot. It took her 10-15 minutes to return and tell our friend that the beer she ordered wasn't available. We asked if the lobster carbonara was stuffed gnocci with lobster and she said the lobster was stuffed with the gnocci. Further, she was asked if it was a lobster tail and she responded that it was the "middle" of the lobster! In fact, it was a lobster tail and the gnocci was in addition (not stuffed). That said, we actually felt sorry for her and assumed she must be new so, we did NOT penalize her with our tip. If management is truly concerned about our experience, they need to TEACH their employees about their menu and service. We would recommend EVO but, with the caveat that the service left lots to be desired.
The food was good, but the service was sub-par. Lots of delays. When we were ready to pay the bill, the restaurant had a very hard time figuring out how to use my dining rewards certificate, which I had printed out and was handy. Even though we allowed two hours for dinner of shared calamari app and a bowl of pasta each, got to the concert we had tickets for at the last minute, making the evening stressful. This was a celebration of a milestone birthday.
Martini's were perfect with hand stuffed blue cheese olives. Nice booth seating, a little dark to read the menu but the table candlelight helped. The pasta is home made and taste great! We had two different shrimp dishes- Chile shrimp and Shrimp Fettucini. Both were excellent. The house salad came in a deep bowl rather than on a plate and did need a little more dressing. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Glad we had cash with us as their credit card system wasn't working.
Selected the patio so it was just cozy, fun and quiet enough to enjoy casual dinning with friends. Requested Erica whom I had the pleasure of taking care of me the first time I dinned there. She remained friendly, attentive and fabulous as I remembered.
Really just enjoyed the happy hour tapas and wine. You can get full easily with the variety offered without ordering a full meal. Nice to enjoy the different foods and drinks without spending a lot of money. It was also a great way to share all the taste experiences with your friends.
Great service, great food and wonderful ambiance. All of us will be returning and I intend to introduce more friends to this place.
Not what I was expecting. The food was bland and not much flavor for Italian dishes. The service was mediocre and not much interaction with our waitress. We asked for recommendation as it was our first time and the waitress basically said it was "modern Italian" and didn't go into detail about what's good. After that she came by once to check on.
Probably the biggest issues was the cigarette smoke from the outside people, waiting to be seated. You could smell it throughout the restaurant.
I ordered the chicken piccata. The chicken was extremely dry, and the noodles were overcooked. The food was brought out to us shortly after we ordered. The quality of the food was horrible. My husband and I believe that the cook everything before the dinner shift, and serve food out of caterin trays. My husband had the lasagna and he thought it tasted like Stoffers.
The food was horrible. My husband and I were up all night with the runs.
The spaghetti tasted like paste and the eggplant must have been frozen since it was watery and cold in the middle.
The kale salad was disgusting.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ive had much better meals at Burgerking.
Food was just passable. Menus extremely difficult to read due to the darkness of the restaurant and the extremely small print. I looked around and saw the other people had similar problems . This is a local restaurant which is always a good thing but it doesn't really cater to anything much more than that.
I feel bad giving 3 stars! I love love love the food here! The wait staff and the hostess are awesome, with great energy!
However, when I am enjoying an amazing meal like their meatballs - to die for, or the incredible seafood pasta, I have to enjoy it with wine!
I don't understand what is with the skimpy pour., here?? Seriously, It's just a deal breaker for me. A huge wine glass delivered to my table with a very small amount of wine. And, this has happened the last two times we've been for dinner.
So, c'mon guys a bigger pour, please! Everyone's doing it!!
Stumbled across this restaurant while looking for Italian on Open Table. They were running a special on free pasta with the purchase of a bottle of wine on the night we went. The four of us ended up having 2 bottles of wine, amazing homemade pasta, and 2 delicious desserts. I'm already craving their pasta! And we found out they're open late. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
I've been a few times just for their Evo Salad which is phenomenal (and I don't get real jazzed about salads), but this time we shared the focaccia which was mouth-watering, the Evo Salads, the Arrabiata Pizza (delicious), and the mac and cheese (which was good, but surprisingly my least favorite of our meal), as well as their butter cake. It was a great time, and I've been back since!
We were there our first time on Aug 8th for our daughters 35 BD. All 6 of us loved the food and our very informative waiter. He was extremely helpful and informative and gracious when we asked if we could go out on the patio. I have and will recommend EVOS to our friends. Not too fancy and not too casual.
EVO 's food was wonderful....my husband and I shared a Caesar Salad and pesto linguine and shrimp. GREAT FLAVORS! The waitress was very efficient and pleasant.
We ate early in the evening ...thank heavens because they were expecting 20 girls celebrating a wedding shower. As soon as they all came in you couldn't hear anything. Wow! Loud! The environment needs softening in decor and sound control.
Maybe a different section of the restaurant would be better next time.
