EVO Ratings and Reviews
Great restaurant. Friendly and very competent wait staff. The food was delicious! Great value for price. I had the lobster carbonara. The lobster tail came perfectly cooked, and not in the sauce which was ideal. The homemade gnocchi was in a light carbonara sauce. Best meal I’ve had in quite a while.
We had a wonderful time and the food was outstanding. I would normally pass on lasagna, but took the server's recommendation for that excellent savory dish. The flourless chocolate cake was incredible. It was very busy the Friday evening we were there and the place was noisy, but we plan to return and would definitely recommend Evo.
We waited a while for our water to come. Caesar salad was bland and overdressed. Focaccia was amazing. Had to send back the orecchiette way underdone. But chili shrimp pasta excellent as was burger. Baby cake dessert delicious
Our server Audrey was knowledgeable and attentive
We expected a lot more from the posted reviews we read. The night was ate at Evo there was a group of 8 women celebrating "something", (one women was wearing a tiara). They were in front of the restaurant we were in back and we couldn't hear our friends talking, that was at the start of our dinner and we should have left then.
Our pastas were soggy at best and relatively tasteless. To be fair, two of our friends had the lasagna and said it was very good. Couldn't believe Evo charges for bread...at an Italian restaurant?
The ambiance, well it doesn't exist. Prices relatively high for pasta,
Sorry but after one disappointing visit we won't be back.
Saw EVO on Check Please and wanted to check it out. It was Happy Hour when we arrived, and we ordered a mushroom pizza, meatballs and rice balls from the Happy Hour menu. All were delicious. For entrees, we had the lobster, shrimp with creamy alfredo and pasta Bolognese. All were wonderful. The only issue was a member of our party asked for some bread to mop up the sauce from his pasta. The waiter seemed quite perplexed about this request. He had a hard time understanding what we wanted (which was quite simple). The grilled bread (that was the only type they had) finally arrived after we had all finished our meal. Of course, we still ate it (and it was delicious). For dessert, we ordered the butter cake. It was ok. I thought it was a bit well done on the bottom. The only issue we had with EVO was the slowness of the service and the bread issue. We were constantly looking for our waiter to get refills for our drinks, etc. I would definitely go back if I was in the area, but I probably wouldn't make a special trip just to go there.
I made this reservation for us and a another couple. The other couple arrived before us and felt the table was in a very noisy spot right next to the kitchen so asked hostess if they could be seated at several other empty tables that remained empty the entire time we were there and she refused to accommodate. We understand reservations and no shows, but the Hostess's attitude and tone was not accommodating or conciliatory n any way. Could do a better job with Customer Service at this position. Table service was fair, salmon was ordered medium rare and was instead well done. (Overcooked) We'll give them another try.
The food was very good, especially the 'baby cake' dessert is just outstanding. The ambiance is also nice, though a bit less intimate and a bit more 'cheap-looking' than the website pictures suggest. Overall, our group of 8 had a lovely time and service was excellent. I would recommend overall.
Waitress really had no idea how to serve or keep food moving. Went to EVO for Christmas Eve dinner, we ordered the appetizers, and waitress didn't come back until after we were done with the appetizers, we then prompted her that we'd like to order our dinner. So, we waited another 45 min to 1 hour and were starving. We asked for some bread, which they brought out 4 slices and we gobbled up. Once we got our meal and finished, and she brought us the check. We explained that we wanted to order dessert. She then told us that one of the desserts took 25 minutes to make. She never told us if they had coffee, etc. for dessert - and we didn't bother at that point. She was a nice person, but really didn't know what she was doing.
We are not picky people, it just really was not a good experience. The food was so-so. Fresh pasta tasted good, but chicken or sauce not anything special.
Atmosphere very quaint and fun, eclectic vibe, but service was honestly worse than going to any 1 star chain restaurant. Unfortunately, it was disappointing.
I don't know if we went on a 'off night' but the staff here was very young and no one seemed to be running the show. Our waiter couldn't recommend a bottle of dry white wine to save his life and made it MUCH more complicated than needed. It almost seemed like the kids were running the show and just 'winging it'. The experience left us with a weird vibe-- service could use some real polishing here. Food is pretty good but not enough to keep us coming back.
We celebrated my wife's birthday with our two sons and their spouses. The noise level was just right for conversation and the place was cozy and clean. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Wine selection was very adequate. The dress code appeared to be business or resort casual and denim slacks fit right in. I wish we lived closer and then I would frequent the place on a regular basis.
The food was good, particularly the lobster carbonara and raviolo appetizer. The squid ink chitarra was extremely spicy, which was not noted on the menu. Our server was mediocre at best, he seemed distracted and took long stretches of time to return to our table.
Waitress did not know the menu that well, dislike dark beers, got a taste of one, didn't like iy, so asked if milk stout was liter, she said yes. It was a dark beer! Ugh. Burger fries delicious. Meatball app also delicious. Beer not so much. She even said we don't have a lite one. 20 minutes later she carried one out to another table??? Draft as well.
The food and service are great. They also have wonderful house wines which are a steal at $5 during happy hour. We had a mix - Chicken Piccata, Fennel Sausage Pasta and Bolognese Pasta; also a house salad and the Caprese. Everything was delicious. They split the house salad 3 ways for us which was a really nice touch.
It was a birthday dinner for our friend. They brought out Cannoli as a freebie for her and it was super!
We celebrated my boyfriends 38th birthday there on Thursday night and I believe our servers name was Audrey. She was amazing! We are vegetarians and she helped us pick the perfect amount of food. We also LOVED the gooey butter cake!!! We will be back soon for sure. Great service!
Overall, our evening was pleasant with good food and a great value. Our waitress, however, was a bit sloppy, removing cocktails before they were finished, forgetting orders we placed, and then adopting an attitude when called out on her mistakes. Maybe she just had a bad night. We will return to EVO and encourage others to try!
We loved the food in this place and we were still talking about it the next day!! However (and a significant however), the service was really terrible. The gal who waited us on appeared not to have restaurant experience. It was so dark in the restaurant when we arrived (6 pm) and, because there was only 1 other couple (at the bar), we asked if they could turn up the light "a little bit" -- she forgot. It took her 10-15 minutes to return and tell our friend that the beer she ordered wasn't available. We asked if the lobster carbonara was stuffed gnocci with lobster and she said the lobster was stuffed with the gnocci. Further, she was asked if it was a lobster tail and she responded that it was the "middle" of the lobster! In fact, it was a lobster tail and the gnocci was in addition (not stuffed). That said, we actually felt sorry for her and assumed she must be new so, we did NOT penalize her with our tip. If management is truly concerned about our experience, they need to TEACH their employees about their menu and service. We would recommend EVO but, with the caveat that the service left lots to be desired.
The food was good, but the service was sub-par. Lots of delays. When we were ready to pay the bill, the restaurant had a very hard time figuring out how to use my dining rewards certificate, which I had printed out and was handy. Even though we allowed two hours for dinner of shared calamari app and a bowl of pasta each, got to the concert we had tickets for at the last minute, making the evening stressful. This was a celebration of a milestone birthday.
