Loved our experience at Evo. Met with friends for dinner and really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely return!
The food was great. Terrific salads and entees, even loved the bread and pesto. But it was way too noisy.
Liked it. From Denver. In town for weekend. Homemade noodles were awesome. Made us want to go home and fire up the kitchenaid mixer and make homemade noodles! Ate at high top by the bar. Service was good.
I can’t remember a more poorly prepared meal. Both the chicken piccata and lasagna were barely edible
Food just Ok. Service good. Venue nice.
The service was superb!!
Arrived in time for Happy Hour. Enjoyed the mushroom pizza and arancini as well as sangria and beer. All was great and very low priced. Then ordered an entree of the regular menu. We split the bolognese pasta. The sauce was somewhat sweet - my husband said it reminded him of Ragu. I didn't think it was that bad but it definitely was not a good authentic Italian sauce. The service was great and, as I said we did enjoy the Happy hour food and drinks. Maybe just picked a bad entree.
Excellent as always. Meatballs were somewhat disappointing, tasted like a lot of breadcrumbs
Great way to celebrate a birthday dinner!! Patio seating was lovely with beautiful views. Food was wonderful and the service was good. A large party made it difficult for our waitress to be as attentive as hoped but we were well taken care of by additional staff. The birthday desert was spectacular ! Highly recommend EVO !
Don’t miss the focaccia with mascarpone and honey. Fabulous. I’d consider it a flatbread but no matter what it’s called it’s delicious.
It was a happy accident that we ate here. Our original reservation for a patio table at another restaurant was canceled due to rain, and we had to scramble to find an alternative on a Saturday night. I'm really glad we found this place!
We got there at 5:30 and were able to have our wine (a very drinkable Coppola red) and delicious appetizers (truffle fries and meatballs) on the happy hour prices. The meatballs were our server's suggestion: "They're famous"--and she was right. They were amazing.
I had one of the pizzas: Arrabiata sauce, goat cheese, and arugula, and it was fantastic. Other diners at my table had the mushroom pizza and the lasagna and were happy with those, too. We finished with the brown butter cake (order it along with your main; it takes 25 minutes), and it rivals Mastro's version.
Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. All in all, just a great meal and evening. I've already told friends about EVO. We'll be back the next time we come to Scottsdale for spring training!
One of The few places you can get a decent meal very late in the evening, which is a big plus. The food is mediocre and could use some more flavor, menu variety and heat (meaning warmth) in the food when it is served. We thought it overall, overpriced and lacking in creativity & quality of ingredients. The service was fantastic! Our server was superb!
Food was amazing, strong flavors and beautiful presentation. The service was blan, though helpful we were one of two tables outside and our table would go untouched for long enough to make us feel forgotten about at times. The atmosphere of EVO is beautiful the only thing that ruined the experience was the music; in a place like this I never expected it's hip hop and rap to be the music choice.
A delightful find. Rustic elegant interior with the bar mostly separated from the dining area. Large comfortable booth for the 4 of us. No gluten free pasta available but the chef was very willing to add vegies to the dinner of 2 of us and the fennel sausage was just spicy enough.
Lovely birthday dessert presentation and, in addition, they allowed us to bring a unique birthday cake for our celebration.
The wine list is nice but I didn't like the cocktail.
It was a bit noisey for the 4 of us elders to carry on a conversation.
I really recommend this restaurant. Food was delicious. Portions are a good size. My waitress was delightful and super helpful. I like a casual ambience. Easy downtown Scottsdale location! The buchetta appetizer was a delicious start! Wine was on happy hour and hit the stop!
We had a wonderful meal at EVO on Saturday night. It was very busy but we received excellent service. We both had the lobster carbonara which was truly delicious. Then we splurged and split the baby butter raspberry cake. Worth the splurge. Nice wine list and we had a great time!
This restaurant got great reviews however when we arrived for our reservation it took 15 minutes to even see a waiter and that’s after we told the manager. He was very nice and apologetic, but our waitress seeemd like she had no interest in being there. The food was decent but nothing that would make me want to go back. I most likely would not return.
Pleasantly surprised to just find Evo on our own, the food was amazing, I hardly eat pasta, yet decided to try since they make their own. Not only was the pasta fantastic, the shrimp was prepared to perfection. Highly recommend Evo!
I saw this restaurant reviewed on local TV and wanted to try it for the fresh pasta. It was fresh and pretty good. This was our first time there. We were seated in a semi circle round booth in the back, which when we sat down was nice and quiet, good for conversation. The booth itself though, was a bit awkward and uncomfortable (back was too vertical and far from the table). If I went back I would opt for a regular table. My biggest complaint is that we ended up between 2 large groups of 8-10 people, right up against our table. These people were loud (nothing against them for having a good time out) and our ability to have conversation at our table vanished. We were already eating at this point, so moving would have been too much trouble. If those groups were there when we arrived, I would have asked for a different table. The acoustics in that part of the restaurant were not conducive to quiet conversation. As I said, my food was pretty good (orchiette, fennel sausage, and kale) though a bit over salted. My wife had the chicken piccata which she said was ok. Service was good, but a little slow at the start. We go water immediately, then waited about 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge our table. She was great from that point forward, so no issues there, but just a little void at the start. Easy to find in Old Town Scottsdale and parking was easy (we arrived at 5:40pm on a Friday night).
Comfortable restaurant. Nothing fancy. Comfort Italian food. Server pushed us for drinks, appetizers and dessert. We felt that the server came to the table a little too much. Food was reasonably priced. The chef came over to ask how everything was. Appreciated that gesture.
This was our first time to Evo. The food was outstanding for all six people that we had. The management and everyone that worked there was incredibly upbeat positive and very professional. We will definitely be going back. Also the happy hour at the bar was fantastic.
The meatball appetizer is a must! All of the pasta dishes are outstanding!
One of our dishes, the fennel sausage & orchietta pasta dishes, was overly salted. The eggplant ragu was fine.
EVO is a great place with terrific ambiance. We would recommend this place to others. At our first and only other visit, the food was very good. This time, most of the 4 dishes were good and we liked the appetizer. The exception was the lasagna which was cooked in a small cast iron frying pan. The lasagna was very heavy and fused solid due to excess cheese. You could not pull out a fork full without the whole meal pulling up in one piece. The manager did not charge for this one entrée which we appreciated, but he was a little defensive and did not really understand, maybe accept that this was a very poorly prepared and cooked meal. We just want him to take a hard look at this meal and reevaluate the quality.
Too noisy, could not carry on a normal conversation.
Most of ordered food was good. The skillet lasagna was not the best. The restaurant was so dark that one had to use phone light to read menu.
We loved this restaurant. Went with friends who wanted homestyle Italian. The appetizers were creative. The pasta melted in your mouth. And the service was great!
First time at Evo and loved it. Staff was efficient and friendly, manager stopped by to ensure all was well. Loved the vibe and decor....we will be back.
Great food! Great time! We loved the atmosphere the minute we walked in- the bar was busy but we were able to get seats right away! Interesting cocktail list- we sat in a large booth for dinner on the back wall overlooking the restaurant - had the charcuterie to start followed by the shrimp with Chile and ink pasta with seafood- both were tasty and perfectly prepared! Will go back for sure next time we are in town!
Excellent, as usual. We love the arancini!
Way way too noisy. Could hardly hear the person across the table. For that reason only I would not go back.
It was a reunion with my sister and they were so accommodating and the service and staff were amazing.
The food was simply underwhelming.
EVO is a pleasant surprise and there is parking! Donny the manager was very personable and our server was so patient & kind. The food was exceptional. Try the meat balls. Every dish has a twist to be savored. EVO salad with pear, pine nuts...Shrimp Fettucini plumb and hearty...yum. We took home half the chicken picatta AND ordered an extra lasagna entree to take home. It was our first time here and we will return with friends!
Two managers came up to our table to check on that and that was really nice! Our server did a good job as well. 😊
Wonderful food! The service was slow. Our server would disappear for a long time. I ask our server when we first sat down if she would do separate checks for each couple (2 checks) and she said yes. Then brought us one check at the end of our meal. She then split the checks but didn’t remember what each couple ordered. Restaurant is very noisy.
We are visiting the area and relying on “top restaurants in Scottsdale” list. EVO was ranked number 2 on one of these lists and was a complete disappointment. Service was fine, but the food was very pooor, especially the pasta. They sold us on their homemade pasta and it was like mush. Again, very disappointing meal
Went for Valentines Day - great 4 course menu at reasonable price with exceptional taste.
Fantastic, attentive service. Mouthwatering drinks and the food is scrumptious each and every time!
