Good evening however the food was quite spicy. It was spicier than before
The service was just not up to par. We had to ask for extra Parmesan, which these days most servers come to your table and grate it by hand without being asked. What she brought was a shaker jar that looked like Kraft Parmesan. For what you’re paying for meals there that seemed pretty tacky. The food and service has declined on my last 2 visits. The focaccia however is still outstanding.
This was our first visit, so we tried the recommended items... We started with the Bone Marrow and Polpettini. The bone marrow was excellantly prepared. Coupled with a sweet, but spicy sauce, it was superb. The toast points were a little tough, but serviceable. The only negative was the spicy pepper in the sauce; it would have been better with less of the spicy pepper. The Polpettini was offered as the most popular appetizer, so it was absolutely necessary to try it. The meatballs were very favorable, but lacked firmness. As my Spouse pointed out, there were huge chunks of bread filler in nearly every bite. For our entrees, we selected three: The Lobster Carbonara, the Squid Ink Chitarra and the Bolognese. Far too much to eat in one setting for two people, but well worth it! The Lobster Carbonara was very well prepared - tender and rich in flavor. The gnocchi were awesome! The Squid Ink Chitarra was fantastic. I loved it, but my Spouse thought it was just bit too salty. Full of squid and huge shrimp and the wine based broth was favorable and sweet and not too spicy. The Bolognese was great, rich in many flavors, maybe the best I have ever tasted, but just a little too spicy. I think we both would have enjoyed it more if it had not set our mouths on fire. For dessert, we tried three of the offered Gelatos - Vanilla, Chocolate and Lemon. The Vanilla and Chocolate were smooth and favorable, but my favorite was the Lemon. A must try!
We love EVO, however, this visit was disappointing. If it wasn't for Justin, our server, it would have been terrible. The noise level was so loud that we were yelling to hear each other. Four of us were there for my daughter's 23rd birthday and two large parties of young girls/women were seated behind us.
My son's pizza was much too salty, wet, and mushy. My daughter's ribeye was cold, the center was chilled. Justin took care of her steak. My husband's Bolognese and meatballs were delicious and my lobster carbonara with gnocchi was yummy as usual.
I will continue to recommend EVO but not for a Friday or Saturday night dinner. The large parties in the small dining area is too overwhelming to enjoy. Also, after being here many times, I don't feel the kitchen is prepared to handle it when it's that busy.
Not what we had expected. Food was not exceptional.
The place is very nice with great ambiance. However, after reviewing the menu we found out that the restaurant is not gluten friendly. No gluten free pasta at a Italian restaurant. really. Very limited to what we could order. We both had a salad. The Kale salad was outstanding. We told our waiter we had to leave because of limited options for gluten free people. I still would recommend friends going there that are not gluten intolerant.
Great deco and ambiance, although a little loud.
The appetizers are NOT good for sharing, we had made it clear we were sharing and the waitress didn’t suggest anything better.
The focaccia came to the table raw - not baked, there was still raw dough...(not sure if this is intentional)
The main, a pasta dish was ok at least
Poor service. Within 40 minutes we only received our drinks. Waiter was busy with other tables. Asked for waters never got them. Had to go to the bartenders to get our own. Didn’t have silverware, asked another server for some, Etc. One thing after another.
I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner. The staff was so sweet and so nice. They greeted her with a Birthday wish as we checked in for our reservation. The service was perfect. Our waitress was very attentive. She brought out a sweet dessert at the end for her birthday with a candle. It was perfect!
Ate outside and watched the sun set over Camelback. Service was poor...received appetizers before water and cocktail order. Manager came by to ask how we were...he got things on track. Food was better the last time we were there. I ate Chile shrimp-was quite oily and not hot.
Was super windy and the manager brought over a blanket for one of us...superb service, great food
Great food and the feel of an old fashioned Italian restaurant. Second time and both occasions were first rate.
Service was very friendly and top notch. Wanted to love the steak bruschetta but the balsamic reduction was definitely burnt and left a bad taste. I would definitely return to try something new. The pastas looked amazing.
The Lobster and Gnocchi was fantastic. I also loved the strawberry Lemonchello. Only recommendation is to add more lighting, it was hard to read the menu with out using my photo's flashlight app.
Cute ambiance. Food is consistently good but service is slow. Do not recommend the kale/Brussels sprouts salad. It is all roasted so it is a dry salad like you are eating dry grass. Flavor is good though. Pastas, pizzas, and apps are otherwise very delicious.
Really good food and service!! Our server made great recommendations. We had the lobster carbonara which was good but the MUST have is the Brie, Marscapone and Honey Focaccia!!!
The Polpettine (meatballs) and Arancini (fried risotto balls) were amazing. Our party had homemade pasta dishes and I loved the lasagna prepared in an individual cast iron skillet! Good wine list, but cocktails we very small. Our server was fun and knowledgeable of the cuisine and preparations.
Great food, ambiance, and service! I would recommend this restaurant :)
This was my first time eating at Evo, and I absolutely LOVED it! First off the wait staff was amazing. The manager was so friendly. Having a supportive staff that worked together made the evening so special. But the best part was by far the food! OMGosh. So. Good! My friend and I have traveled to Italy and this pasta brought us right back! SO AMAZING. I even tried bone marrow, and I loved it. I can't recommend this place enough. The ambiance was so amazing, outdoor dining was great, and the wine was so good. Loved it. The next time I travel to Arizona to see my friend, this place is definitely on the MUST GO TO list! :)
The food was just ok...it was a step up from Olive Garden at best. We were surprised at the high ratings (which is why we went) the pizza (funghi) was not great at all...top of crust was greasy. Shrimp fettuccine (3 of 4 of us) had it and nobody really liked it.
Vacation dinner so never been before. Found this on Sedona top 10 list online. Food was really good. Service fair - one entree was delayed which was then comp’d and they offered dessert as well - which was nice. Would return!
went there for dinner with a few colleagues from work. the food was great, the service was excellent. the dessert took a long time to come out, and without us asking, the manager apologized and told us we would not be charged for the dessert. overall a great experience, and we will be back.
Service was erratic, table for 6 seated next to us (party of 2) and we ordered before them and they got every course before we did and when we asked why there was no answer. Focaccia was way too cheesy, meatball was excellent. pappardelle with bolognese was good but way more spicy than any I have ever had. Brown Butter cake was delicious, highly recommend it but it was supposed to have raspberries and it had only one.
In fairness, when they brought the bill, the server apologized and had removed the pasta dish and the salad (which had arrived with no dressing). And said she was sorry about the service.
Outside was charming
We had made a reservation, it took a long time to get a server, we actually had to ask 2 times before we finally had someone help us, but once we had the server, it went very well. We were a party of 8, very hard to miss us.
Pizza was very tasteless. Too much crust with a very small amount of cheese. Would never order again. My husband had the lasagna and really enjoyed it.
Excellent Meatballs!!!! Every one should come her just for their meatballs!!! Lobster gnocchi is superb and the squid ink pasta is really special!
I was very disappointed. We ordered appetizers. After 20 minutes the waitress came to take our dinner order. We hadn't received our appetizers yet. So I specifically asked the waitress not to bring the dinner until we our appetizers were done. We finally got our appetizers after 30 minutes and 10 minutes the servers come out with our dinner orders. The table was not big enough for appetizers and dinner plates so the servers just took the appetizers. It was extremely poor service. Our waitress would disappear for long lengths of time -- never even asked us if we wanted a 2nd drink. I was expecting so much more from Evo.
There is no appetizer better than their focaccia
It’s very noisy inside but on patio is great
Caesar salad dressing could use a bit more pop
Pasta is delicious
Food served hot as it should be
Babycake dessert amazing
Would have preferred option if outdoor seating. Was not offered to us even though there was nobody in the restaurant and we had a reservation. We had a wine bottle broken right next to our table. Glass broke into our booth. No manager ever came over to check us. We should have been moved to another table and had something comped
2nd time eating here and it's just a EXCELLENT if not better than the 1st time!
Hi our second visit to EVO, we come to Phoenix for spring break . we found you last year and our teenagers wanted to return again this year. The wait staff was friendly and were very nice to our kids . Thanks again hope to see you next year. Kay from St. Louis Mo
Eggplant Ragout was delicious
Above average prices and below average food.
Squid ink pasta was tasteless and lobster carbonara was pricey and not good.
Dark and uninviting room.
Parking is easy in lot next door.
On main street with no views.
Service was good.
Food was good, but server didn’t bring us any fish fork for the mussels. Maybe they don’t have them, but if not they should.
Server could have been more attentive. She also was going to fill up my drink, but must have forgotten.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Scottsdale for a Cubs spring training game and came upon this place after looking at reviews on Yelp and Open Table and we are so glad we did! We weren't too overly hungry after the game so our server helped us out with some recommendations. We started with the meatballs which were DELICIOUS and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the Fennel Sausage pasta which was fairly light on the stomach since it was mostly chile oil and seasonings for flavor. Good pasta! But......I ordered the Shrimp Fettuccini which came with 5-6 large shrimp, homemade fettuccine noodles, and a fairly light pesto alfredo. THIS WAS THE WINNER!! Even though I wasn't that hungry to begin with, the portion was perfect and so was the dish. I finished it all!! Thennnn, we were told by our server that the Brown Butter Babycake was worth the wait (25 minutes) and it was!! We finished every last bite of everything we ordered!! We loved the atmosphere, the wine selection, and the food! If only we lived in town and could visit this place more often! Highly recommended!
First time. Heard nice things. Service was good. Food was average. Pizza was very good. Lasagna had way too much garlic, and I love garlic. Bolognese fries were good. happy hour prices were very good.
Loved our experience at Evo. Met with friends for dinner and really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely return!
The food was great. Terrific salads and entees, even loved the bread and pesto. But it was way too noisy.
