This was--hands-down--the most 'outrageously pleasant surprise' of a meal I've had in years. As a heavy business traveler I always look for new spots in cities I visit. Everyday Kitchen (open just since May) popped up on Louisville, less than 2 miles from my hotel downtown. Two words: GO! NOW! Every dish was a simply amazing mix of elements all in perfect proportions. A salmon tartine with perfect dill and lemon accompaniments (but also the right hint of salt and earthy greens and beautifully plated). A RIDICULOUSLY good (light and bright) cold salad of charred haricots verts, pickled ramps and crab in a light vinaigrette (but don't let the menu fool you--there are about 8 other ingredients all peeking through in just sublime fashion--it's one of the best things I've eaten in years!). I skipped the entrees for lighter dining--and had a side course of some insanely good charred sweet potatoes with a simple ginger sorghum glaze and some mint, herbs and a little agrodolce garnish. (Yes, they are every bit as good and warm and inviting as they sound, and the leftovers will be awesome when cold and caramelized!) And for dessert? The phrase 'deconstructed coconut cream pie' is misleading. It is art on a plate. With the perfect balance of tart (passionfruit), crunch, sweetness, and cream (and seriously--the server didn't see me licking the plate. No, really!). All served with a really top-rate spin on Irish coffee. The service is efficient, smart, engaging, and knows when to chat and when to drift away (thanks Shelby!). The bar menu is spot-on for Louisville: bourbon forward but also interesting and unusual. And the restaurant's social consciousness aspect (read their website) makes the dining experience all the more satisfying. Seriously--my palate just had an utterly spectacular experience! And I will certainly try their coffee shop (the Clever Moose, next door) tomorrow while I am here. Strong encouragement: GO. You will NOT regret it!
The hummus was quite different than your usual chickpea dip. Once we started dipping into, we made quick work of it. Definitely give it a try! The smoked chicken, leek and boudin soup was similarly unexpected and unusual but super tasty! Also, don’t sleep on the cavatelli and duck dishes. There were no misses here. Except the dessert cocktail with fernet (sting like a bee). Dessert was triumphantly salvaged by their version of a coconut cream pie, however, that still has me salivating.
What an amazing review and feedback from you! Thank you so much. We like to take an "everyday" dish and surprise our guests with that elevated surprise factor with each of our menu selections. We are thrilled to hear you were able to explore our menu the way it was designed to do so. We would love to have you back again to unravel more of our restaurant! Thank you again!
Amazing food, beautiful location and perfectly clean. We wanted to try everything on the menu.
We won't stop you from trying our full menu! Thank you for the amazing review, Jack - we look forward to seeing you back in again!
Perfect preparation and an excellent menu. It's a fun place for a foodie.
Thank you for experiencing our menu, Rob! We love catering to foodies of Louisville and beyond. We would love to host you again!
The food is uniformly excellent at Everyday Kitchen. They also have a great, innovative cocktail menu. The interior is a little on the stark side, and it’s pretty loud, but we’ve had two great experiences there with large groups so far.
We are so grateful for your review! Thank you for stopping in (again!). We love our loyal guests who get to discover new things on any of our menus each time. We look forward to hosting your large groups again!
Fantastic! We will be back for sure!
SO great to hear! We look forward to you coming back!
The best, most beautifully presented farm-to-table fare I’ve ever had. Well done.
Thank you for your review. I see that you noted, you loved our service but was curious if there was an issue with your most recent experience that cause your star rating to be a three? My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Three different entrees, all excellent. Brûlée’d hummus as a starter was delicious. Cocktails we perfect!!! We are putting this place on our list of regulars. And the interior is cool.
So glad you enjoyed everything. We love regulars! Can't wait to have you back for another visit!
Very interesting menu, with fresh and creative ingredients and combinations. Specials included a ricotta tartine, delicious fish with a fennel salad, and pork roast - all prepared well and yummy. Potatoes wedges were undercooked. Wine and bourbon selection good and fairly priced. Service was excellent - shout out to Lola. The restaurant is carefully observing COVID-19 guidelines, so tables are very spread out for now. We'll be back to try it again.
Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad you were able to experience Lola's great hospitality and several items on our menu. We apologize for the undercooked potato wedges - we typically make them with a not too crunchy outer shell while the potato inside is soft and warm. I know Lola would have addressed this for you. We are happy to have you come back in and let us make that right for you!
We were in town for one day and wanted find a unique place to dine at the end of our tourist day. The building was a very fine restoration of old and new with exposed brick and light contemporary flooring. Windows to the kitchen give a peek of the chefs doing their craft. They had a great wine list and it was my first time having hot hummus. Delicious. The short rib was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The deconstructed coconut cream pie was inventive, light and delicious Our server was knowledgeable and on point with everything. Although we are not locals, I think this spot will quickly rise to be a Louisville favorite with foodies.
Thank you for your review, Holly! We are so happy you chose us as part of your Louisville experience! We appreciate your feedback and hope you visit us again when you come through.
Good service, clean atmosphere, menu items all sounded delicious. We had the fish special and the pork shoulder roast beast of the day. 😋
Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback and look forward to coming back to try our other delicious menu items!
Food and service were good. The food was overpriced compared to similar restaurant’s in town and nothing stood out as phenomenal.
We are glad you enjoyed our menu options and service. Our menu items are priced fairly to the local, whole ingredients and craft that goes into each of our plates. We try to make sure there is an opportunity on the menu affordable for anyone who wants an elevated dining experience. We hope to have you back and explore more of our menu and find one of our exceptional plates as your favorite.
Chef Mike Wajda is a culinary genius. We enjoyed his cuisine during his tenure at 21C and eagerly awaited the opening of Everyday Kitchen. From start to finish, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and plated to perfection. Mike humbly praises his team and makes you feel like part of his family. Praises to the EK Team!!
What an extremely thoughtful review! Thank you, Heather. We will make sure to pass this note to Chef Mike and our team. We are grateful to have him and each of our staff working with Everyday Kitchen and showcasing a memorable experience for each of our guests. We definitely look forward to hosting you again soon!
Everything was so fresh and the plating was beautiful. Will absolutely be back!
Thank you for your feedback! We love that you took note of our creative kitchen team's plating work! We look forward to having you back in with us!
The hummus appetizer was great. The main courses were Meh.. The shortrib main was inconsistent in that one of was mostly fat whereas the other two were mostly meat. The desserts were enjoyed, especially the chocolate trifle. Atmosphere was good, nice and quiet, without too many others. Service was good. This place serves really good, deconstructed, healthy items.
Thank you for your review and feedback. Our butchers try to carve unnecessary fat away from the brisket beef breast but it is natural in that specific cut of meat. We would have happily exchanged your plate for a new one during your time with us. We hope you consider dining in with us again - we look forward to serving you!
Wow - Amazing dinner! This was our first time dining at Everyday Kitchen. If you haven't been to this restaurant yet - GO! I have never tasted such upscale, delicious food. The wait staff were attentive, the chef and his staff were superb, and, we felt like royalty. I would venture to say, this is one of the best restaurants in Louisville. I love trying foods out of the norm. Yes, steak and potatoes are great, but rather run-of-the-mill after awhile. This is food that makes you feel like a king/queen. If you don't make your way to this fabulous place, you are missing out on one of the best meals you've ever had!
Lisa, we are so happy you had the experience you did. We thrive to make sure each of our guests are treated with the most elevated, yet comfortable hospitality and service. We hope to be considered the best new restaurant in Louisville as we welcome more people to our Kitchen. Thank you for your amazing review and we look forward to seeing you in again!
Really cool concept and decor. Overall a good date night. Menu is compact, but both of our dishes were well crafted. The service was very good, with attentiveness from anybody who happened to be nearby. The special Old Fashioned of the night (Blood Orange themed) was really good.
Thanks for the kind review, Jason. Our menu is going to be expanding as NuLu opens back up, and Chef Mike will be including a bunch of great summer dishes. Let us know when you plan your next visit and we'll take it up a notch!
Every bite of food was delicious and unique. The hummus was excellent. My fish was cooked to perfection! Management checked with us several times to make sure we were happy, and we were very happy! This is a “foodie” spot for sure
Thanks for nice review, Laurie. We certainly want to make the foodies happy, but want our dishes to be accessible to everyone. I'm glad then team to excellent care of you. We look forward to your return visit.
We booked a 6 course chef's menu and it was excellent!!
Glad you got to enjoy our Derby Feast, Michael. The three nights were an amazing success. We can't wait to do it again next year!
We had an amazing 6 course tasting menu with drink pairing! We are from out of town, but when we come back we will definitely eat here again!!!
Glad you enjoyed our Derby Celebration so thoroughly. It's always nice to hear good things from out-of-town guests! Pop in during your next visit to Louisville!
We had the Derby Weekend multi course special and it was phenomenal. The wine/cocktail pairings were ridiculously good. Highly recommended . Ask for Lola.
Lola says HI! And thanks for participating in the Six Courses and a Crown Experience. We're ecstatic that that the beverage pairing was to your liking. Come back another time for a "regular" meal! (It'll be just as amazing!)
We had a lovely experience. Definitely try the hummus! It was spectacular and so unique. Everything was so delicious and the food presentation was impressive. Each dish offered a little something novel to us. It was a fun experience to get to taste these new vegetables or methods.
Glad you enjoyed your dinners! Chef Mike strives for uniqueness in his flavor profiles and is happy that his preparations struck your fancy. See you next time!
The service from the waitress and the floor manager were great. They were very attentive and engaging during our visit. The food however missed the mark for us. We tried an appetizer, soup and both got a seafood catch of the day and the beast of the day. We were disappointed all the way around on the food offerings. Wanted so badly to love this place. Again, the service was great, the food just left us disappointed. Hoping they reassess the menu/flavor pairings and excel in this foodie-centric town.
We are happy our service helped make your experience. We are sorry our menu was not what you preferred or enjoyed. We will be introducing seasonal menus - so we would love to invite you in again to give us another try! Be on the look out on our social media platforms for announcements for when we launch new menus!
Very pleasant staff and very unique menu offerings. An oasis of different dishes that stand apart from the mainstays seen most anywhere. Definitely a place to go and experience their original creations.
Thanks for the Nice review, James. It's good to hear that we stand apart! We look forward to taking care of you in the future.
Outstanding meal, excellent cocktail program, terrific service; need I say more? You need to go!
Thanks for the awesome recommendation!
So we ended up here because dining out is apparently super popular in Louisville right now as we all come back to life... to the point that all of our go-tos were completely booked. After a little research on the team that put the restaurant together (formerly from Proof and Harvest), and a scan of the menu on social media, we made our reservation. From start to finish our experience was impeccable. Skeptical about hummus, but willing to branch out because EVERY other person said to get it, we did. It was not a mistake. Just do it. It’s not what you will expect. It did take a while to for it to get to our table, and since we were waiting a bit, the chef sent out a side of mushrooms. While we didn’t order it to begin with, we will ALWAYS order it when we return. The short rib did not disappoint, and the creamed spinach was excellent too. The special birthday ice cream sandwich and espresso (that wasn’t on the menu, but appeared after request) ended the meal perfectly. We had a few cocktails each and the bill was very reasonable, and I expected it to be much more. We will definitely return, and we are so glad we stumbled upon this before the rest of the city found it!
Glad we have been added to your "go-to" list, and that the risk you took on the hummus panned out. Chef Mike loves to rotate his menu seasonally, so we're sure to have some great additions on your return visits!
We had a great experience with outstanding food!!!
We were looking for something different and just happened upon this restaurant as we were sitting at the traffic light, we googled the restaurant name and discovered it’s menu which appeared to be very appealing to us. We then went to open table and booked a table, we were really happy that we did, what a fantastic meal we had our service was top notch, very clean interior, open airy not stuffy, very kid friendly as well. Multiple local and state bourbon’s and special cocktails, a very nice wine list with national & international wines offered. Hearty portions of food with each course our waitress even told us “ unless “ you’re a huge eaters a single side works for two. This restaurant has only been open for 7 days but we will be back!!
Thanks for giving us a shot during our first couple of weeks, Larry. We're glad that the combination of elevated cuisine in a casual setting resonated with you. Can't wait to see you back for more!
We had a great time! Group of 4 and we shared plates throughout the evening. There was no menu online and the pricing suggested $31 -$55 an entrée so we knew there was a bit of a risk to our evening. Our reservations were early (5pm) and we were one of two groups so it was very quiet but I am sure the noise level could be significant with a normal dinner crowd. Ordered drinks and Hummus (served warm) and we loved it. We had three dinners (Cavatelli, Prawns and Hamburger) and a combination of vegetable sides (Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, spinach and ) to go along with sides that were served with the entrees. Portions are not huge (other than the hamburger) but they are satisfying and tasted great. The most favorite entree was the Hamburger and the favored side was the mushrooms but I would not talk anyone out of any choice. Bourbon and drink prices are very fair for this type of restaurant. Bill was $200 before tip and we had 6 drinks at the table. I shared a little bit more than usual because it is a newer restaurant.
Thanks for your kind review, Paul. We're glad your group enjoyed the share-ability of our menu. We'll have plenty more to share on your next visit!
The burger was one of my all time favorites. The daily beast was lamb shank. It was delicious. Both came with excellent potatoes. The hummus brûlée was genius. How come I’ve never seen it at a restaurant previously? The cocktails were excellent.
Happy to hear the burger was wonderful. And you've never seen the hummus elsewhere because Chef Mike brought that to life. More great new stuff will be here to try on your next visit!
Everyday Kitchen was fantastic. We are so excited to have it in the Louisville area. This restaurant was spacious and open with nice natural lighting. Excellent service. Even better food and cocktail menu. My husband and I went with our five month old - family's first outing- and it was perfect. We felt well taken care of and safe. I highly recommend to Louisvillians looking for something new and fresh, or for out of towners who want something reliable and welcoming.
Thanks for visiting us, Jess...especially during our first week of operation. We're glad everything was up to snuff. Can't wait to have you back in again.
