The béarnaise sauce for the New York steak was one of the best I’ve ever had as was the braised endive. The marbré of Duck, Pheasant and Quail was a little dry and needed more sauce, but overall it was a good dish. The staff was great and very attentive. Overall a great experience, I will be back on my next visit to Chicago.
Did tasting and wine pairing. Should have been a wonderful experience. Food was good but a bit different, portions were ridiculously small. Wine pairing was a total rip off. For $125 pp you should get more then a thimble full of wines.
Very expensive and really
The dinner was adequate but drawn out to the degree of being pretentious. Instead of getting the final course we got the bill. Do not go here for a high-end experience.
This was an extraordinary meal, one of the top three or four in my entire life. The food was flawless, the service was exemplary, the wine pairings were incredible, and everything was a home run. Every now and then they would bring us a little amuse-bouche, which was an unexpected treat. I’m trying to figure out when we can go back. And if you’re a soufflé lover, do spend the extra $10 for the apple soufflé dessert. You won’t regret it. It’s like eating a cloud.
Well done, Everest team! What a great night. Thank you.
Old world classic French that has excellent prixe fix menus and French wine pairings.
Excellent food but very expensive
Lovely celebratory service for four. Professional, yet friendly, with all working well together. Our dishes were very good, although none left more than a fleeting impression. Worth a visit, but I don't feel a draw to return anytime soon.
I was served really bad red wine that smelled like vinegar, as the server poured it. I'm sure it's been open for days. Smelled like vinegar and tasted like vinegar. I may not look like I know anything about wine... that's why I was served that. It was a $26 glass of wine, btw..I had to return it..I felt really insulted that they would even put that on the table..
The food was a tasty, but the service are mediocre, although we were transplanted to the view table, there were plenty of jambs. Since the restaurant has one Michelin star, the demand is corresponding.
I will start by saying that the food was delicious. However, the service is sub par for the caliber of this restaurant. Had we not been warned that the service was so terrible, our experience might have been ruined. From it taking 10 minutes to recieve our menu and water glasses (the actual water was another wait), to it taking another 45 minutes from the time we finished our meal to get our check, the hits just kept coming. The staff is extremely rude and completely disorganized. All evening they seemed to get in each other's way. I declined the champagne and it was followed by a slamming of the wine book shut and a VERY annoyed "So, you will not be ordering any alcohol?" My favorite character was the bread bearer that goes to each table several times throughout the night and says that he can "offer you just 2 pieces of bread this time". Really? I could go on for a while, but it's a shame. This restaurant could be so lovely with a little more staff training.
Amazing food and outstanding service!
The space was gorgeous. The view was unmatched. The food was brilliant classic French cuisine. The little surprises were fun. All in all an unforgettable experience.
Overall I was disappointed in my experience with the food. I will say the service was good, our waiter did a great job. The appetizers we ordered were delicious and the dessert was outstanding. The main course, however, was only subpar. I ordered the duck and I was not impressed with the taste. My boyfriend ordered the sea bass and he agreed with his. The wine was amazing, the sommelier did a fabulous job. Overall I would say it was not worth the price and I would not go again unless someone else was paying for it.
This is far and away the worst dining experience I've had in Chicago. The aging and unsophisticated decor is rivaled only by the bland food and drink selections. Firstly, upon entry I was not greeted by staff at the hosting station but instead several glanced and walked by my party. When the hostess did arrive after about a 3 minute wait, we were ushered to the bar where we were served mediocre cocktails and waited an additional 15 min to be seated. Once seated, I was assaulted with the sour stench of an old dish rag, undoubtedly used to clean our plates and cutlery. The dishes were uninspiring and mundane. Mealy foie gras. Rubbery lobster. Overcooked steak. It was all so insipid that I could not tell if my expectations were too high or if the experience was really that bad. Had the meal been tasty, I would have endured the fading 80s inspired chrome, souring utensils and downtrodden carpeting. But alas, my tastebuds were greeted with food that would have been better served in a test kitchen for aspiring but talentless chefs. The staff, however eager to be pleasant, had already failed to properly greet its guest and thus spoiled ant attempt at goodwill.
It was just...bad. And pricey. That juxtaposition alone should inspire you to make another choice.
Have experienced fine dining everywhere in the world and although the food was good we did not think it was worth the money. We did the 7 course dinner with wine pairings and with a 20% tip the bill was $875 for two. We maxed out with 4 people at Bazaar Meat in Las Vegas for around the same price and a way better overall experience. Found the atmosphere to be stuffy. Service was excellent but service people need to loosen up. Would give it a 3.5 overall.
Excellent lobster starter in a wonderful buttery sauce. Was in town with the girlfriend was quieter than expected on a Thursday night only 1/4 capacity. Get a table by the window. Double the experience. My gfs venison was better than my veal tenderloin and definitely get the peach soufflé ootw 🥰
Excellent at every step of the way
Thank you very much!
A friend was visiting from out of town to celebrate her birthday and mine. The view and food were great. The service attentive but not intrusive. Perfect for a special occasion!
We had a wonderful time for our 33 wedding anniversary. The service was simply outstanding. Everyone who works there is so helpful and nice to deal with.
Super accommodating for showing up late to reservation. Staff super attentive and made sure night was perfect. Food delicious
Great staff, great view! Other clientele was pretentious. We’re younger (20s) and felt unwelcome by other clientele, maybe because of our age. The staff was AMAZING and the food delicious. We know seafood and this is some of the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
Outrageously expensive. $776 for 3 diners. Three of us ordered New York Strips $128 each. Each one had a thread of gristle that SHOULD have been trimmed in the kitchen. The signature lobster starter remains outstanding. The selections on the bread tray have downgraded. No more croissant or crusty hard rolls. Desserts are “good” but in the past chocolate souffles were available by special order. All in all: still good but I miss what was
Great restaurant! They couldn't celebrate us in a better way, recommend it 100%
Food and service was not as great as expected compared to other French restaurants in the world.
Fantastic wine list, impeccable service, outstanding preparation of the dishes with highest quality, great views over the western part of the city
I have so many nice things to say about all of the Lettuce Entertainer Restaurants thru the years. Last nite I was at
Everest for my niece’s 24th birthday. So special! What a special dinner and what great service!
Poor seating given to us, seated side by side with no view - which defeats the purpose at a restaurant on the 40th floor. Many tables next to us offered to move to alternate locations despite us asking first. No effort made on this front despite noting in our reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion/birthday. Other than that restaurant was very very quiet and had no real ambiance, and felt a little dated. Food was great, no complaints there.
When I made the reservation I was never told we won’t be sitting near the windows until we arrived. What a total let down I wanted to leave the restaurant, but at this point it is Saturday night and I had planned weeks in advance. The staff tried to be accommodating, but Anniversary was ruined. I will never go back. We weren’t the only couple this happened to.
Amazing meal. We got the tasting menu with the wine pairing
Wines were very good but several from Alsace region and I would have preferred more variety. But that’s my preference
The food was exquisite and well presented. Staff was very friendly
Felt rushed to go through a very expensive dinner. First 4 courses of tasting menu were done in 40 minutes. Small pours of wine, even though says 2 oz, felt almost less most times. Food was really good but wish we didn’t feel were were rushed to get out of there. Would try their choice menu instead of tasting next time if we ever go back. Our 10th Michelin restaurant and has been our least favorite to date.
For 20 years Everest has been our Special Occasion (anniversaries, birthdays, etc.) go to place and it has never disappointed. Saturday we celebrated my wife’s 70th birthday, the food, service, and ambience were impeccable. Our lead server, Emily, was masterful in orchestrating the 3 other servers assigned to our table; and recommending wine pairings to compliment our delicious and perfectly timed meal courses. The chairs at our window table were positioned to allow a full view of the sunset. The attention to detail included someone periodically adjusted the the shades to prevent too much sunshine, but not blocking the western view as the city lite up. During our 2 1/2 hour dining experience, we never felt the staff was interested in rushing us in order to turnover the table. Thanks Emily & Everest for making our evening truly a special occasion!
Excellent service. Beautiful presentation
Very well paced and executed. Superb food. Clever wine pairing.
We had excellent service and the amount of food provided for the fixed course pre-theatre dinner was just right. Enjoyed our visit and would recommend to others. Nice view from the top of the building.
My wife and I got married in one of their private rooms three years ago, and we've returned for our anniversary each year. The food and the service are fantastic a always. It's definitely a special occasion place.
As for special events, our wedding there was fantastic. They helped to plan everything and even had a special vegan menu for one of my wife's nieces. Everyone who was at it had wonderfully memorable time. We'll returning for our anniversary each year.
To be honest, I was expecting more. We were dissatisfied with a few of the options we ordered but no one came around to check on us so we never had a chance to voice our concerns. $355 is a lot to spend on a meal you’d rate a 3 star. Individually the servers are clearly more than capable of Michelin star service, but together they fail to work as a cohesive team. Signature duck was dry and lacking flavor. The venison (main) and lobster (starter) were amazing! The staff was attentive to my gluten allergy which is much appreciated.
My daughter’s 16 Th birthday
Modern fine dining experience for classic French food with an Alsatian twist. The staff finds that perfect balance of being there we you need them but only when you need them, and they seem equipped for any circumstance. Every dish is thoughtful and all the ingredients are well sourced. Combined with the view, it truly creates an occasion.
As it happens, we stayed at the Buckingham hotel the night we dined, so we only needed to walk down the hall to get there and back, which helped preserve the afterglow.
