We came to Evangeline’s on a recommendation from a friend for our anniversary. We sat at the Courtyard and had a lovely time. The ambiance was perfect, the food was delicious and the service was superb! We had the fabulous Nina as our server and she was in the ball, very knowledgeable, gave us great recommendations and everything we had was good. I have food allergies and she told me right away, what I could or could not have. Great place, to eat, a bit louder if you sit inside the restaurant.
Great food (omg, the chicken and biscuits!) and great ambience. The staff was delightful! When they ran out of hashed browns, they made us feel better by claiming hashed browns are for losers, and we got upgraded to fries. Cute. Wonderful Bloody Mary's! Would visit again!
I read previous reviews and we were not disappointed!!! It was very, very enjoyable! Excellent service and food! We are local and will return again!!!!0
Sorry to write a negative review but the experience at Evangeline's was a true disappointment. Service was spotty and our server seemed like she had been partying in New Orleans too much the night before. The cabernet we ordered was hot and obviously not stored at cellar temperature! We had to add ice to our glasses which dilutes the wine. They were out of okra that night. The crawfish ettoufee , which we were looking forward to, was tasteless. The roux was lumpy and there were clumps of flour in it. We left as fast as we could and went elsewhere for dessert and drinks. I don't know how they get such great reviews online.
Our waitress was absolutely amazing! Very attentive to any needs we might have and awesome with suggesting food options we would enjoy. The atmosphere was wonderful as well. We will definitely be back!
Great friendly service with tasty local fare.
Oh man. Great staff. They were super fun and helpful. The Alligator and Waffles was AMAZING!!!!
Go and getcha some!
Staff was wonderful and treated us special for the special occasion. I would definitely go back!
I’ve been here several times before but this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The server messed up a couple orders. The grits were dry and lumpy, but they’ve been creamy and amazing in the past so I expected them to be the same. We ordered bottomless mimosas but it’s hard for them to be bottomless when the server takes forever to refill them. Once we got all of the orders corrected and asked for creamier grits, everything came out tasting amazing. Then the server brought out 1 check, we asked it could be separated and that literally took him 45 mins.
Best crawfish etouffee I had in all of New Orleans. Highly recommend.
This is some of the worst food I've ever been served and they served warm beer.
Great service and delicious food. Laura took care of us and made our anniversary dinner special!
Overall a good choice in French quarter if you are seeking authentic NO food. The fresh fish was excellent but a bit pricey. The desserts were terrific especially the bananas foster. Drinks were well crafted. We sat in courtyard and it was nothing too special. The big fans blowing were annoying to say the least. Overall I’d go back and would recommend.
Food is good but still need refinement.
The appetizers is okay which brings the rating down.
In general I recommend this place for dinner if you cannot think where you are going to have dinner
Our dinner there was superb. The only negative was that we did not like their bread pudding, but that is totally a matter of personal taste. We had a wonderful experience!
It was very quiet there on Sunday. We had a wonderful time and the server was very enthusiastic!
Lovely little restaurant tucked away on Decatur. Ate there twice on a recent trip. Once for brunch with unlimited bloody marys and again for happy hour with cocktail specials and appetizers.
The staff is very fun and attentive.
Will definitely go again next time I'm in NOLA.
I went to Evangeline's with 12 friends to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was AWESOME!!! The staff was super attentive and kind and even gave everyone in our party some birthday beads. The esthetic is just what we were looking for and the food was delicious. Overall it was the exact feel we were going for and I'm so glad we went!
It’s hard to find a bad restaurant in NOLA, but this meal stood out as our favorite over a five day stay. Crawfish and grits was perfection, with the crawfish cooked so perfectly they had none of the rubbery texture so many others do. Excellent crab cakes and fried oysters, and cocktails on point. All this plus wonderful hospitality and service, with a great soundtrack of R&B soul classics playing all evening. Didn’t really need a reservation on a quieter Wednesday night, but better safe than sorry. Street parking right around the corner - I’m sure we won’t get so lucky during a busier season!
Excellent food and service!
Given all of the options in the French Quarter this is not a place I would re-visit time and again. The food was good but portions were small and I felt overpriced given quantity. The drinks were nice - definitely a nice place to have a cocktail and appetizer.
I honestly had the best meal of my life there. I had the alligator creole, it was so good and I don't normally "love" alligator. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating because my daughter is Vegan and he helped find her the perfect meal. I wish I could have revisited before I left.
On a side note, I saw a ghost in the women's restroom. Added bonus!!!!
Wonderful food and a great spot!
Absolutely amazing food. We enjoyed sitting outside it what was a tru New Orleans experience
