Europea Ratings and Reviews
This is my third trip to Europea and as always, it was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Our wait staff was truly amazing, they were all very knowledgeable and friendly. They play a huge part in the overall experience. The food, what can I say about the food except BEST FOOD EVER. Every course was better than the last, my favourite being the dessert of course! This place is a MUST try once in a lifetime, and perhaps like me you’ll become hooked and it will become THE place you always want to go! Thanks again Europea, I will be back, and I WILL finally get my seat at the table with the kitchen view haha! xoxox
If I did not plan to return I would say this was a once in a lifetime experience. Each serving was a discovery of flavour and pure happiness. Original but not overdone. Service is impeccable. You may get intimidated at first, but the personnel will make you feel at ease in no time. If you can try to leave room for desserts...they are incredible!!!
I had very high expectations for Europea. I'd say they were met up to a certain degree. The food was good but not excellent for the price and the advertisement that they had made. Also, the ambiance was mediocre. The floor was dirty and there were flies around the food as we were eating. However, I have to say that the service was excellent. I'd give this restaurant an average score.
It was a really great experience, the restaurant was really crowded so the service was really slow that night. Almost never had refills of water and it took about 3 hours to get thru the dining experience. We all enjoyed it a lot and we would recommend it to anyone, but maybe not during a Saturday evening.
We had two very different experiences here. We were first sat upstairs in an after-thought table that appeared to have been smushed into the upstairs dining room. Overhead lighting was so harsh and bright that I was getting a headache even after they turned it down per our request. Service was formal French and lead female server was not friendly. Pace was swift to the point that we were bombarded with amuse bouche even before we received our cocktail - or for that matter before they even gave us an opportunity to order one. We made a request to slow down the service which was seemingly interpreted as "ignore us for a while". We dine out a lot and we were really not enjoying ourselves - to the point of just wanting to throw in the towel, but we spoke with the manager and took him up on his offer to move us downstairs to at least remedy the lighting situation. The change was like night and day. Service by Gabrielle and Matt on the first floor was light, friendly and impeccable. It changed our night in a huge way and we ended up having what I expect is the typical, immensely pleasant Europea experience. I feel bad for the other diners who were stuck upstairs as many of them were hurriedly ushered out well before we finished (and had been sat after us). Overall, food was very good and delightful in terms of drama. The restaurant could use a remodel - carpet, decor takes you back to early 2000s. I do understand, however, how this sits in the upper echelon of Montreal restaurants. There is a lot of artistry coming out of the kitchen.
Don't be fooled by the size of the servings. We had the MTLaTable fixed menu and were being served food for 2hrs almost non stop. By the time we got to the main course I was already starting to feel full. The food, service and presentation were excellent, as always.
Had a 9:30 reservation. Got a wrong menu at the start which was odd since there was only one that night. People beside us were well into their third course at least. The service was rushed, somehow we caught up to the people beside us by the 5th course. We have been here before and wanted to capture the moment where the book opens and the smoke comes out, the server simply opened it right away even though we had our phone ready. Our server barely attended to us, couldn't be reached. We wanted to ask questions since we can't speak French. The first round of bread was stone cold. We had to ask the person who brought food to our table to take a Polaroid photo of us. The only person who asked how our food was was a floor manager that was passing by. I had too ask him if I could have happy anniversary written on the desert since everyone else was too busy or something. Maybe it was a busy night or we had a much better service a few years ago here, we felt disappointed. The food was fine.
