About

Europa is a restaurant that specializes in Mediterranean fare. However, the presentation of the food is one of the things that really helps to separate the restaurant from others. Much of the food at the restaurant is cooked at your table on volcanic rocks, and you can be sure all of the meals are prepared fresh.

Some of the popular options on the menu at Europa include Portuguese martini scallops, shrimp cakes, sirloin burgers, the Bourbon Burger, Mediterranean flatbread, clams and linguini and grilled octopus. Europa can host a variety of different types of events and can provide all of the catering for you.

You could tell the staff and restaurant were not used to a full house, but they managed ok. Took awhile to get a drink from the bar while we waited for our reservation...set up of bar upon entrance, with NO place to comfortably wait for a table is a total miscue in my opinion, a candidate for a 'bar rescue' episode.
Food was ok and tasty, a little pricey in my opinion...ordered a dish that had lobster in it. Meal for 2 was served with the lobster shell still intact (in pieces though, ). Asked waiter for a metal pick to remove lobster..he informed me they had none, brought me a toothpick!
Waiter Chris was very good, polite, prompt and infomative.
Atmosphere nothing special.

We went for Tapas Tuesday and were impressed with the great value. Food is decent (although would not recommend the lobster mac & cheese - overcooked and dry with almost no lobster) but everything else was great. Pretty quiet in the dining room on a Tuesday night - but the bar is hopping.

We like to have a new experience when we dine and the hot stone meal delivered! It was unique, delicious and fun! The Risotto balls and the martini scallops appetizers were also very good. I thought the martinis we ordered from the bar were very well executed and I really appreciated the quality of the olives in my drink - which may seem silly - but it matters. The flourless chocolate torte for dessert was not very notable . . .it was pretty dry. However it served it's purpose with the espresso we had at the end of the meal by offering a sweet bite. Our server Giselle was very nice and did a great job. Live music in the bar was lovely.

Interesting atmosphere. The blackrock dining was new and interesting to try. Food was great, well seasoned and fresh. The live music was setting up as we were leaving, so we didn't get to hear them... the lounge area seemed small for a band to be crammed into though

Food and wine was fabulous. Service was awful. As soon as we were seated we told the waitress it was my birthday, yet our table went unattended by her most of the night. She neglected to bring us our soups and salads or refresh our cocktails. Luckily, my son-in-law knew one of the other waitresses and she took good care of us and got the lion's share of the tip.

I had never been to Europa in Ludlow. I have a freind that lives very close so we gave it a try. I wasn't really busy because we ate there during the week. I understand its much bussier on the weekends. The service was outstanding. The food was very good and I would go back in a heart beat. I suggest that you give this restaurant a try.

I brought my Portuguese Grandmother out to dinner for her 93rd birthday and Europa was a great choice. She is hard to please and she loved the Bacalao Frito. I enjoyed a New York Strip on the rock and it too was great. I'll definitely return, hopefully next October for birthday 94!!!

As usual we went there hungry and started off with the tapas, then a soup and dinner salad , we then had their awesome tasting lamb chops, unfortunately we couldn't eat it all so we took the left overs home and had another meal from them, I just can't say enough about the lamb chops, but make sure to call ahead because on certain nights they run out!

We ordered boneless wings, and well they were clearly strips. Service was soooo slow for a dead Friday night. The dinner was actually pretty good. If it weren't for that I would have gave a worse review. Nice atmosphere and cool things going on every night though, so they entry at least! Props for that

My husband and I went there on a Tuesday to celebrate his birthday. I had been there a few weeks before with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the tapas menu! The lobster mac and cheese was sinfully delicious and I loved the spinach salad so much I ordered it both times. My husband opted for the t-bone dinner special instead of ordering from the tapas menu, but he said everything was very good. I would definitely go there again and have already recommended it to others.

I went to Europa with a friend for lunch - we each ordered the same Bourbon Burger - one without onions (mine!) and one with (hers). We both ordered regular fries, and our burgers cooked medium.

Burger tasted ok, but wasn't coooked correctly. "House Fries" weren't crispy or especially hot. My Diet Coke didn't taste anything like Coke - or Pepsi for that matter.

Orders served to other tables smelled great - maybe we just got the wrong thing.

I drove 45 minutes to get here. It was an ok experience, and the food was acceptable - but it wasn't great.

We have dined in the "Old" Europa in South Hadley and this was our first experience at the Ludlow location. We went on a Tuesday night which was quiet, but still a number of filled tables. We had reservation but probably didn't need them. We were seated immediately in the dining room, the room is comfortable but not special.

We ordered drinks. There was a nice wine special for my wife and a great choice of 10 beers on tap including some locals. I chose Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project's "Fluffy White Rabbits", a Belgian style triple. Its not often you see this beer at a local restaurant.

The food was great but I am running out of characters. We'll go back!

The food at this restaurant was amazing! Found it on GroupOn and am very happy for that. Cooking on the lava rock is a lot of fun. Delicious martinis too! A great place to go to with a significant other, or with a group of friends. I will definitely be coming here again soon.

The decor had a feel of the 70's with dark paneling on the walls. Appearance needs some sprucing up! Waitress had no idea what gluten was as I inquired about gluten free dishes... 2 appetizers I ordered were definitely gluten. However my salmon was nice and everyone seemed to enjoyed their meals.

The food is always very good, but we went on a Sunday night -- and as they are closed on Mondays, we found they were out of a few items. Three of us had the tenderloin -- romancing the stone -- and the sweet potato cheese casserole. Both were very good. Desserts were yummy.

I had been to Europa when they were located in South Hadley and being Portuguese, I was looking forward to a good Portuguese meal. Not only was I disappointed but I was mad! I ordered broccoli rabe as an appetizer and it was so tough that my jaw became sore trying to chew it. They also had the fans going because of the hot stone meals but it made my meal cold. I ordered the fried cod and they must have forgot to soak it because it was so salty that I could barely eat it and again our meals got very cold very quick because of the fans. I don’t complain at restaurants, I just don’t return but I really wish I had said something to the waiter about this meal. It was truly that bad. To add insult to injury I ordered a glass of white wine, which w

This visit was our first, with a Groupon. Decor was dated, very 80's. The piped in music was awful/OLD. The menu was also quite large and without a discernable theme, on a busy night the kitchen could get bogged down. However, the food we got was surprisingly good for the most part- creative goat cheese and risotto ball appetizers, very tasty. Crazy Alfredo was a generous portion, worth price even for pasta, lots of chicken, etc. Salt cod did have lots and lots of bones, though, which really turned my husband off fish. In the end we agreed we would go back with another Groupon or with a group of friends. Comedy night looks fun!

This was our 6th time at Eurpoa. The food and service has been excellent each and every time and we will continue to go here. However, this restaurant needs some serious TLC with the decor. First impressions could easily put people off and they'd miss out on delicious food and great service!

My husband had salmon and I had the pasta special. The salmon was cooked just right, the spinach was delicious but the little rice thing on the bottom was a fried mess .....fried in old used grease you could taste. My pasta would have been delicious if it didn't have the funky red sliced peppers that gave it such a weird taste and over powered the dish so much that we took 2 bites each and couldn't eat it. Such a waste since the portion was so pleasing to the eye. We ended with their special Portugese dessert which was refrigerator burn. It happens to be one of my husbands favorite desserts and even he did not eat it. Our server was very polite and very attentive without being in my face which is a plus since I dine out a lot.

I bought the groupon to give it another try. It was ok. Three if the four people at our table had the steak entree. The two steaks that we're cooked on the stone were great, the third had a big piece of grissel in the center that should be removed before serving. The sauces for the steaks were vinegar flavored. I had ordered chimichurri sauce snd it was a red oily mess. The fourth entree was the paella. It had no saffron, and some of the shrimp still had the shells and feet on them!!! I feel if you are going to cook classic dishes they should be done correctly or not at all. This dish was bland and not cooked well. The appetizers were fine. I would definatley not run back for another dinner.

The food was great but the service was lacking. They automatically tacked 15% on to the bill, so probably figured they didn't really need to work for their gratuity. Took about 20 minutes to get drinks after being seated and the courses came out very slowly from the kitchen. The waitress was friendly, we just didn't see her frequently enough.

The food is creative, delicious and amazing; but the restaurant itself could do with a face lift. I assume there is a late night club downstairs because the nice music from the dining room was competing this Saturday night with the boom-boom-boom from below. That kind of killed the mood but the service and food managed to win us over for a return visit but maybe on a Monday-Thursday night.

First time at Europa and we will definitely return. Hot rock cooking was a good experience. My scallops and prawns were done perfectly and the rock was used by my husband to heat up bites of his brisket as he ate. All the wait staff was friendly and helpful although there were a couple of long waits. We weren't in a hurry so not a problem for us but anyone on a tight schedule may have been disappointed. Varied menu with alot of Portuguese dishes to try. Desserts are truely homemade according to our waiter. Cheesecake and flan were very good.
