Europa is a restaurant that specializes in Mediterranean fare. However, the presentation of the food is one of the things that really helps to separate the restaurant from others. Much of the food at the restaurant is cooked at your table on volcanic rocks, and you can be sure all of the meals are prepared fresh.
Some of the popular options on the menu at Europa include Portuguese martini scallops, shrimp cakes, sirloin burgers, the Bourbon Burger, Mediterranean flatbread, clams and linguini and grilled octopus. Europa can host a variety of different types of events and can provide all of the catering for you.
We expected more from Europa based on previously read reviews. The atmosphere was loud, we couldn't hear each other at our table. One of the two toilets in the ladies room was overflowing. We had to walk through the overflow to get to the sink and the other stall. The food was good but did not outweigh the other factors. Overall, the experience was disappointing.
Hamburgers weren't cooked as aksed, but very tasty. Server was very nice, but took a bit long to get a few things. Floors were dirty. Seemed like a neighborhood place.
Had Portuguese cuisine and it brought back memories. Enjoyed the evening with my extended family. It is a must place to eat when we visit Ludlow.
Overall food was good, and the service was great. Will be back again.
Great lunch buffett, followed up with espresso!
We were there for the first time on Valentine's day and we couldn't be happier. Giselle was our server and she was great! She made some great suggestions and was very attentive. For an appetizer we had a spicy shrimp that was very tasting. My boyfriend tried the steak on the stone with scallops that was very interesting and flavorful. I had the Seafood dish that was on special and it was delicious! We will definitely be back.
Excellent meal and service!
There were a few issues with our food where we had to send a couple entrees back to the kitchen but the server was exceptional and in the end had a great time! Our server was Michelle she was great!
The food is great and the service.
Waited an hour and a half for food. When it was served, it was cold. creme brulee was cold too..
Very disappointing. My meal was fine but my wife's meal was cold and incorrect. The server was not very attentive. We had to ask for more water. The manager came over at the end of our meal and gave us a gift card for $20 - we gave it to our daughter because we will not be back. We did speak tot he server and told her we were disappointed.
My boyfriend and I had made reservations for 7 pm for Valentine's day at Europa. Unfortunately after trekking through the snow to arrive we were ignored for 30 minutes. After this amount of time and attempting to contact the hostess multiple times she finally came over and told us that they were running behind and it would be another 30 minutes. Luckily by the time we finally sat down at 7:50 the waitress was attentive and our appetizers came out quickly. One we sat the food was delicious and the wait for it was short. The tables were set up with candles which was very romantic. I don't know if I would recommend it because of the horrible service in the beginning but in the end we enjoyed the meal and atmosphere.
At first reading about Europa I had high expectations. Don't get me wrong the food had good taste and the drink selection was very good. The only turn-offs were I went for a special occasion with my girlfriend not knowing how close the bar is to the dinning area which caused a different atmosphere then expected. The service was a little slow especially for it being a slower night. There was a live band toward the end which was a nice touch. Overall it was a good restaurant for a regular date night nothing to exquisite. Also the volcanic rock cooking is not what you would expect, glad I did not get it. I would still go back for food drinks and a live band.
So we made a reservation for a Thursday and it happened to be Trivia Bingo night. We love Bingo so we were psyched about that. We ordered the Surf & Turf on the Black Rock.. I asked the server before we ordered if this meal was enough for two people and I was told that some people share it. We found out it was not enough food for us to share when we received the first plate which was salad the plate was cold so we assumed that the salads were pre-made and sitting in the fridge. It looked like bag salad and the lettuce was brownish and I think I could count the number of pieces of lettuce with 2 hands. Next we got the meat with the sides and there were about 5-6 string beans and a handful of house fries (which were delicious). The rock was not very big so trying to cut a NY strip on the rock with 6 large shrimps on it was not easy but I managed to cut the steak up and got it cooked. I had to season the steak with salt and pepper because it had no seasoning and the Gorgonzola sauce to go over it was not enough flavor for the steak alone.
Our server checked on us periodically before we got our food and while it was cooking but once we were eating he was no where to be found. I assumed he was busy on the other side of the restaurant. We wanted to order more food because it was not enough to fill us but couldn't because we couldn't find our server. He finally came to our table and we were all done and continued to play Trivia Bingo. He recommended dessert so I looked at the menu figuring maybe the dessert will help fill me up. It was delicious and yes it did help fill me up but I would of preferred to fill up on food instead of dessert.
The food was amazing!! Service was amazing and a nice atmosphere. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Happened to be there on Friday night and listened to some great music.
The service was air a little slow. The stone cooking was wonderful but the room was filled with smoke from the cooking. They need exhaust fans. A little more decorating would make the place look a lot better.
We had to be at the Exit 7 for a show and the waitress and waiter being trained made this happen! Great food!!!
To start we had the Ahi tuna with a nice horseradish sauce. For entrees we had mouth watering swordfish over a saffron risotto and the Octopus special. Both were excellent but the risotto was one of the best I've ever had. They specialize in Portuguese cuisine and also do dished served on the "hot stone" which is a fun experience. Our waitress was very nice, met all our needs and took the time to be personable and chit chat with us. Great night, we will be back!
Once again Europa provided us with a good meal and a relaxing evening.
Awesome food and service as always! I visit this location often and never a bad meal or service!
First time at Europa. Our servers were very nice and efficient. Food was cooked wonderfully. Will definitely return to this restaurant
Both seafood food were excellent with great portions of pasta and seafood. Service was excellent and attentive. Great for all occasions.
The food was good, but my husband wanted to try the hot stone dinner because on the menu it said interesting and amazing. He said it was interesting but definitely not amazing. You are given this rock that is 700 degrees, which you could get seriously hurt from if touched. If we wanted to cook own on food we would have stayed home. Our waiter was new and had no idea on the food and could not answer any of our questions, which makes me wonder what kind of training he received. For the price we paid for everything we won't be back, it wasn't worth it.
Sunday lunch, so dining room lightly attended; most folk were in less formal area past bar. Lamb chops & Portuguese Martini Scallops both good; sirloin burger medium rare, exactly per order. Kale soup was mild; recipe I hadn't had before and not as spicey as I am accustomed to. The chorica wasn't cooked into it; rather sprinkled in as a garnish. Desserts were very good, Portuguese flan and a cookie-based cheesecake-like item were especially good (too bad Europa doesn't post their desserts on online menu).
Relaxed atmosphere; service a bit slow. 4 of us converged from CT, MA & NH because nice website & location conveniently off/on MassPike (exit7). We would return to try dinner. Nightly specials looked very tasty (I like Portuguese).
This was our second visit. We used a Groupon certificate. The service was wonderful. The food was excellent. Europa is a great restaurant.
I recently went to this restaurant because I got a Groupon for nearly half off. Good thing because I would have been really upset if I had gone and paid full price. Cooking on the hot stone is a pain in the butt/takes too long, while your sides sit and get cold. The sides were bland and overcooked. The beef I got for cooking was ridiculously oversalted (and I like salt). The dessert, supposedly a flourless chocolate cake/torte, was bizarre and not what I expected. Ordered 2 coffee drinks for dessert, and they arrived 10 minutes apart in completely different sized cups! The restaurant wasn't very crowded, yet the service was very slow. I won't be going back.
A good experience overall (family of 4). It took a little longer than I'd have liked to get our dinner (we waited about 1/2 hour between apps and our meal). The food was very good. The filet mignon was fun (it came on a stone to cook it myself!) My only real disappointment was with the groupon. The 'fine print did NOT state 'soup or salad is NOT included with the groupon.' I was very disappointed because the groupon's value was up to $140 for the total meal. Entres INCLUDE soup or salad; therefore, I felt like I was NOT getting the full value of the meal as a result. I brought my disappointment to the waitress who said she would share it with management, but not another word was said about it, so I left there feeling disappointed.
We got there a few minutes early and they seated us right away. Kim, our waitress was excellent! The food and service was exceptional. We definitely will go back and recommend Europa to our friends and family.
The hot stone with filet mignon was one of the best steaks I have ever had and also they have the best martinis.
We read a lot of review that mentioned bad service but raved about the food... so we thought we would still give the restaurant a whirl. We had a rough start to service. There was a delayed at the hostess station and drinks took a while. Once we got our drinks service seemed to start flowing fine. Our waitress was attentive. Appetizers were delicious but then our entrees came out before our soup and salad. My husband asked about his soup and my salad wasn't mentioned. I got a Sea Bass special and picked out about 7 bones before I gave up on the dish- flavors were good; it was just too much work. I've never had Sea Bass Steaks- so I don't know if this is common. I was just surprised by it. My husband loved his entree- Gorgonzola Steak.
I ordered my steak medium and it came out well-done. They cooked another one but by the time it came out the rest of my group was almost done eating. four out of seven of us cut the ribeye special and we all agreed it was very fatty
The menu was diverse, the food was very good, and the selection of craft beers was terrific!
We visited for the first time for Mother's Day dinner. The food was excellent, and we all had a really great time. The waitress was friendly, helpful, and very on top of things. We felt very comfortable as a family here.
Friendly and enthusiastic service greets you at this plain but pleasing place just north of Ludlow, plenty of parking, and popular with groups and families, I took my daughter here for a celebratory dinner. We loved the calamarie, crisp and tender, the kale soup was homey and delicious, but the filet mingon served on a 750 degree heated slab of volcanic rock was superb. The cooking of slices of steak takes a little practice but is well worth the effort. Mashed potatoes and sautéed squash were simple but good. Flour less chocolate cake was a great ending.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals which varied between Portuguese and American. Each one was cooked perfectly. The waitress was ver attentive and helpful. The cost was much less than we anticipated.
Very impressed with service and menu. Their menu contained gluten free items too.
Will return now that it's on our favorite list. Excellent dining experience!
Met a friend for dinner. Ordered a Negroni, which the waitstaff had never heard of. I told her the bartender would know. Then informed that they didn't have Campari. We ordered appetizers from a big selection. They were all good. Ordered a glass of Zinfandel from the wine list for dinner. It was nothing special and overpriced. The main course was fine. Ordered a cappuccino finally. It was horrid and didn't look right. I had to convince the waitress of that fact. Turns out they made it with buttermilk by mistake. They seem to make good food, but they need to attend to other details that improve the dining experience. Lots of people drinking beer at the bar, two parties in the dining room should tell you something.
Seniors and food buffet diners will have a great experience here
On our first visit to this restaurant we found a kitchen that is headed in the right direction. The waitress cared about our dinners and was very nice. Europa has the potential to be quite good--live music, a good menu and owners that care.
We had a pan seared salmon and a paelha and were very impressed by them. They looked gorgeous and tasted wonderful. There was enough paelha that we had it again the next night. We also tried a salad and their kale soup. The kale soup was bland and disappointing.
