Eugene's Gulf Coast Cuisine
Join us in celebrating the flavors and traditions of the Gulf Coast in a charming, casual-fine dining atmosphere. All our dishes are made from scratch (except the Ranch dressing and Blue Bell ice cream) and our seafood and steaks are grilled over a wood-burning fire of oak and hickory. The freshest seafood, certified angus beef steaks, delicious sides, daily specials, decadent desserts, wonderful wines, best martini’s in town and genuine Southern hospitality are a few of the things that will keep you coming back.
Regrettably, this long time favorite closed to a packed house on New Years Eve but, HAPPILY will be reopening on March 1st as "Eugene's Gulf Coast Cuisine" at 1985 Welch, the former site of the Mockingbird Bistro.
Went there for Nee Year’s Eve and the last night they were open. It was great. Look forward to going to Eugene’s once they open.
Enjoyed a Great meal and the comfort of good people
Look forward to the continued traditions of Cajun Style Dinning at Eugene's
See You Their.
The restaurant is now closed but waiter overcharged us by $30, my mom's order was wrong, and they turned the ac on so high, we all had to put jackets on bc it felt like we were standing on a beach in January
We will miss having Danton's in our neighborhood. However, we look forward to going to Eugene's when it opens this Spring. A great staff serving great, fresh Gulf Seafood.
We wanted to go to Damon's one last time before they moved. We are sad that they will be slightly further away - they have been within walking distance for us - when they reopen as Eugene's. But we will definitely still be regular customers. We are looking forward to seeing their new space and some new dishes on the menu.
The oysters and blackened redfish were so fresh! Great representation of Texas and Louisiana gulf coast cuisine.
Dinner and a play with all of our kids in town. Service was excellent. This is one of our favorite places to go.
Great food and good experience, but felt like the meal was rushed
Excellent food and service, well worth it. Great oysters and seafood.
Best gumbo in town!
Food was good although nothing out of the ordinary. Seafood was fresh. Service was intrusive.
Secret to great gumbo is the roux. Danton's roux is consistently excellent. Danton's is a favorite. We look forward to following Danton's to its new location
My girlfriends and I love the live music on Sunday. We got the stuffed shrimp, red beans rice, crabcakes, and breakfast nachos. All the food was very good. We all shared the white bread pudding. It is my absolute favorite bread pudding in all of Houston. The live music is a added touch and not very loud. I would recommend this place to my friends for Creole food.
Great brunch with fam!
Usually love the food. This time craw fish bisque lacked flavor and was watery. The dish taco lunch was good but the slaw was a little light on seasoning (but fish was very good). But I will be back!
Dessert, advertised as fresh, obviously was not. Fish had way too much sauce. Broccoli had Nothing on it. Herb butter for bread not fresh. Overpriced for low quality. Our note that it was a birthday lunch was ignored.
Outstanding as usual. I took friends from Louisiana visiting Houston. Their standards are very high on food and beverage. They were impressed. I had the stuffed flounder, which was excellent. We even re-ordered on the appetizer; it was that good. The wine selected by my guest was wonderful. Danton’s isn’t cheap, but the phrase “you get what you pay for” is so true when it comes to Gulf seafood. Life is too short to eat bad food and drink mediocre wine.
Everyone was so attentive especially our server Jimmy. I highly recommend this restaurant for date night. The food and drinks were amazing.
Great food, good service and a real comfortable place to enjoy dinner and conversation. We will miss Danton's after it closes December 31.
We love going to Danton's and Louis never fails to please. We will miss "Our Booth" and will hope that the new name (Eugene's) and location (in former Mockingbird Bistro space) will be able to capture the wonderful ambiance developed over the years. A chocolate mousse (rather than monkey cake), in tandem with the Creme Brulee and Key Lime Pie, would be a great addition to the menu. Looking forward to the New Era!
Bad start because the hostess wasn't there but the General Manager, Louis Borowski, took control and the meal was excellent.
This was my first visit to Danton's on the occasion of a first date. The staff was professional, cheerful, and attentive. The menu was excellent with great choices for a wide range of tastes. Definitely on my list of restaurants to return to!
This has become a favorite for my friends and family. We love the adult atmosphere (although kids are welcome), great food and outstanding service.
Awesome experience;excellent food, service. Great attention to detail.
efficient, friendly service as always and the food's very good ... we will keep returning
food not upto par.
Danton's has an interesting menu of delicious foods. Service was attentive, helpful--superb! Our dinners were perfectly prepared and served in a timely manner. Ambiance was very nice, with diverse background music but also conversation-friendly, not overbearing. Great place. Too bad they have to close but we will follow to the new location. Thanks for a wonderful dinner!
Just a very pleasant experience. Local restaurant, very good choice.
My wife and I went here to try something off the beat and path and not a chain. Montrose is a great area for local restaurants and until now we have been very pleased. I will be very objective...WE visit a lot of restaurants (1 per week). This Cajun restaurant has food that is lacking in the seasoning department, even 2 servers said the same thing. The food is tasty but not seasoned cajun well (and I dont necessarily mean spicy). My wife ordered Red Snapper blackened and I had Stuffed Red Fish. Both were bland. I also ordered baked oysters with lumb crab meat and cheese that was seasoned poorly. There was no bread served prior to meal, my old fashioned cocktail was served with crushed ice and was not very good. Also, we are wondering why there is an upcharge for getting sauteed spinach for a side....we were thinking maybe it is the same spinach Popeye eats to get stronger? But not the case, just regular ole spinach. The service was ok and the restaurant was clean. The price was would have been fine if the food was better. Unfortunately, there is nothing the restaurant can do to improve our rating unless the recipes are refreshed and improved. As my wife said, "we were together so it was still a good night," but given we live in a very foodie city, we will not be back unless invited by a friend an occasion they may be celebrating.
Fish was over cooked, soggy and had asked that the loaded potato have sour cream & bacon on side, came on potato so order went back.
Manager seemed to not be fazed by this & explained that the restaurant is moving at end of year so come visit new location, NOT.
We were visiting Houston and wanted something that would be local and regional. Coastal seafood seemed a good choice and Danton’s was perfect. The crab corn soup was amazing and both the shrimp and crab dishes were very tasty. It was an excellent choice for us!
Consistently good. One of my favorites. Will miss the location. Always love the food.
It was fine but needs some cleaning and spiffing up.
Best Gumbo in Houston. Always great fresh fish selections perfectly prepared.
Great restaurant with really good and freshly made items. Would highly recommend
Restaurant appeared dingy & not overly clean. Waiter appeared to be hung over. They were out of our first 2-3 choices of entrees, but we did not learn that until when we were ordering.
Had a very nice waiter, James, and a delicious meal. Would recommend highly
Danton's is always a winner. It is my go-to place for friends and business both. And Louis is The Best!!
The seafood and the sides receive great kitchen and the results are evident. Servers are old-school and exceptional. Music is always enjoyable.
