Ethos - Gallery Ratings and Reviews
Never a bad experience here. The wait staff are professional, helpful, friendly and engaging. The ambience and music is more "breezy Southampton" than Midtown. The food is excellent. I had the Langostinos which were perfectly seasoned and prepared, as always.
This is hands-down one of our absolute favorite neighborhood restaurants. ETHOS is always a good call
Ethos Gallery 51 is a neighborhood favorite. I live near the United Nations and last week was the U.N. General Assembly. I was a little nervous about scheduling a business dinner in the middle of the UN traffic mess, but the Ethos team made it easy.
My colleagues finished their meetings a bit early and arrived nearly an hour before our reservation. Not a problem for Archie and George. They seated my friends at a prime table, knowing that they would not be ordering dinner for some time.
Colleagues for Sweden, Kenya and Uruguay at the table and everyone agreed that all of the food was fabulous and authentic. Where do you find these amazing tomatoes? Best Greek Salad on the planet. The place was electric - on a Tuesday night! We are all looking forward to the next time everyone is in town and we will definitely have dinner at Ethos!
We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees. Our waitress was not available and when she came over she said it takes awhile to prepare the fish. Finally, after an hour we asked to speak to the manager. He came over and in a loud voice said to us that he is going to go in the kitchen and find out what chef is cooking our food and he was going to fire the chef. We looked at the manager and said are you serious? Then, he walked away. With no solution or way to help. He was mocking us. I had no words as this has never happened in all our years of dining.
We were only a table of 2 and not important to them as there were larger parties and busy.
Met a friend for lunch for my first visit. Quiet when I arrived, but filled up fairly quickly with a mix of neighborhood folks and business people. We opted to eat indoors as it was quite hot outside. Service prompt, food excellent. Bright, open ambience. Enjoyed the mussels. My guest very pleased with spinach pie. Plan to return when I am on the East Side.
I'm really displeased to receive this notification and would like you to contact the restaurant with my feedback, and ensure that I receive points for my dining experience.
I checked in with the host twice - as did my girlfriends sister who arrived before me and was waiting at the bar. We waited about 10 minutes for a table - not a terribly long time - but was the worst table for 3 people. They put us at a table for 2 and put a chair at the end - and this was at a long banquette style table of 2 tops - so one of us was staring into the table next to us which was awkward. While at a busy restaurant I understand that 3 tops can be hard to seat, there was a lovely square table for 4 next to us that remained empty until about 8:15 - when another group of 3 was seated there. Beyond that, I looked around to see many groups of 3 at these similar square tables. My girlfriend kept complaining that we clearly got the worst table for our party - and even asked me if I ever use OpenTable.
While the meal itself was good , and their was nothing bad about the service (although they did send us the wrong appetizer and side, but comped both) I'm surprised that there was so much confusion in getting us seated at an appropriate table and recording my reservation in OpenTable.
This was not my first visit. Everything was excellent. The menu was extensive, especially the fishes. I ordered a Black Sea bass which was prepared impeccably. Everyone at the table ordered fish dishes, which were excellent. A nice surprise was how good the French fries were! The Greek salad was delicious, with tomatoes in season! A classy touch was a complimentary dessert! Although it was noisy, I will come back. The service was perfect.
