Food was all delicious. They took our order in person rather than having to order via the app so that was really great. We asked a lot of questions. The recommendations we got were very good. The whole experience was very positive. Highly recommend.

Delicious food. The decor is minimalist--not as exotic as many Ethiopian restaurants--but warm, comfortable, and very clean. Similarly, the service is not out to impress anyone but is polite and efficient.

Excellent Ethiopian restaurant in DC. The vegetarian plates, beef tips & lamb tips were all excellent. Service was excellent. Very affordable as well. Highly recommend.

We’ve dined at Ethiopic over the years and as an American, believe it’s one of the notable Ethiopian dining destinations in the DC region that’s not in Silver Spring. We did notice they’re feeling the post pandemic pinch of short staffing and increasing prices. The slower service isn’t as noticeable if you order some Ethiopian wine and enjoy conversation with your dining companions.

Went with a work party on a Thursday night. Booked 2 tables of 5…called them to see if they could merge 2 tables - no worries. Food was sooooo good. Everyone in our party absolutely loved the food. We got the beef tibs, awaze beef, signature lamb, beef & chicken sampler, and vegetarian sampler for 2. Favorites were the lamb and awaze beef, and our vegetarian friends loved everything on their sampler. We had so much food. And amazing value! Well done Ethiopic!

As always the food was fantastic. But I’m very disappointed in the service experience. They don’t have menus. You have to order everything on an app and pay for it as you order. This makes it hard to order more drinks, additional food, etc. I’m fine with using a QR code to look at the menu if need be. But when you go out to dinner, part of the experience is having a server take your order and discuss the food, etc. This felt like ordering takeout and then sitting in the restaurant with it. I hope they go back to their original great service soon.

We ate outside and had a lovely server who helped us with the menu and took our order and split the check. We had no problem with service and found everyone to be friendly and helpful. Food as always was great and this continues to be my go to place for Ethiopian food

I really love this restaurant, however the only thing I wish they would change is moving away from the 100% app-based ordering where you also pay in advance (implemented during COVID 19 mitigation) and to more interaction. You get minimal interaction with staff, it is hard to make requests and the whole process seems very transactional. Other than that, it is the best Ethiopian food around and I make sure to stop in from out of town every visit I take!

We arrived early to our reservation, we were offered inside or outside seating. We were informed the kitchen was low on some items but that did not affect our order. The order and pay solution they implemented has really let the service down at this spot. There’s no personal interaction with the service team - I had to call staff over to fill up my water glass 3 times. The food took 40 minutes after we ordered it (we were the only outside table at this point and there was no explanation offered for the delay. We love the food here but the service speed really let them down on this occasion.

The food was good, but because you order from your phone, they don’t check on you. I had to get up and ask a server for more ingera. She was so cheap and only gave us 3 rolls. The acoustics are horrific. You hear every conversation around you and it so annoying. I would only recommend takeout from this place.

Food was good as always. The online ordering for inperson system is a hassle and rarely works - and didn’t this time either. But the place is short-staffed since it relies on its online system . It took several trips to the back of the restaurant to get an ice bucket for wine, wine glasses to be brought to us and to get a waitperson to take our order.

VERY friendly staff, exceptional food, and sitting outdoors on a pleasant evening was lovely. My only minor dislike is that you order/pay for the food yourself via phone app. I understand there are multiple reasons for this, but honestly, if I'm dining in the restaurant I'd really rather the servers do all this. I don't want to look at my phone while at dinner (!!), but that's just me. Great place!!

I would highly recommend this local Ethiopian restaurant. Extremely efficient business with a QR code to scan the menu, order food and pay for dinner, seamless and easy! Food was delicious we shared the vegan special for 2 which could have easily fed 3. Lentil appetizer was also really good. Ginger martini and beer selection was great! Overall the food, ambience and experience was great and I would come back when I’m in the DC area again!

My favorite restaurant when I take the train to DC. I am a regular, if not as frequent as I would like, but im always made to feel like family. There are so many excellent Ethiopian restaurants in DC and the suburbs. After years of trying many different places, my taste has become more discriminating and this is without a doubt my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in DC. And if if your traveling by train and it’s too early for a meal at Ethiopic, Sidamo coffee down the block is also superb!

Great food. Easy parking nearby in the neighborhood. Service could have been better. Waitress didnt tell us we had to order via the QR link. So we waited until she returned to take our order. Downside is that they want you to tip the staff before they have done anything for you. Long time getting our food, and it was not crowded.

It is a sit down restaurant, but they make you buy food with your phone and pre-pay. Ordering more food or drinks is the same deal. We found it irritating. Food is still very good.

From start to finish it was fantastic. I told them it was my wife’s birthday, they gave us a prime table and even provided free dessert. Food was absolutely amazing! Classy establishment, highly recommend!

I always love Ethiopic. We split the Veggie Sampler II and kitfo, and always go home with leftovers for lunch the next day. Always spoiled by how good it is.
