Good restaurant, the vegetarian sampler is deceivingly big, but if you're non-veg definitely get it with the fish...which was excellent. The lamb tibbs was little on the tough side but overall good flavour. Oh and the Ethiopian beer was great...crisp and refreshing.

Very enjoyable experience. The food was generally excellent, except for the doro dishes, where the chicken was so dry and tough as to be practically inedible. Flavors were fantastic and the highlight was the crispy fried fish. Service was very friendly, but a bit slow and noise level a bit high. Overall, had a very good experience.

Great food, engaging and very helpful waiter. However, staff came around too often, coming to take plates or glasses away way before we were finished. Even if restaurant is extremely busy, as it was last night, it should never appear like you are hurrying your guests out the door so you can accommodate next group of diners.

PLEASE DISREGARD THE ABOVE. I CONFUSED WITH ANOTHER RESTAURANT. YOUR SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS.

We enjoyed our very first Ethiopian lunch as this lovely restaurant. Casual, bright ambiance and a friendly staff. The food was delicious and a fun experience to share the large vegetarian platter. Also tried their ethiopian herbal tea. Highly recommend this place.

The food and service were both very good. It was crowded, so it was a little on the noisy side. Still, very much worth it.

We love Ethiopian, heard great things about Ethiopic, and were anxious to try it. The food was good, and (other than at least a 15 minute wait before anyone came to our table after we were seated) our service was good as well. Nice variety of mild and spicy dishes on the menu. Ambiance is a bit lacking - it's a small place, with no real place for people to wait for their table, so patrons end up standing right up against some dining tables (including the table we were at). In addition to that, the restaurant is very very "lively", so our group of 5 had difficulty hearing across the table. So bottom line, although I wouldn't refuse to go back (because the food was good), I'd probably seek out another Ethiopian restaurant to try the next time, in search of better ambiance.

Open Table tip - I made our initial reservation on Open Table, but then later needed to decrease our party size. I tried to do on Open Table, which said there was no availability at any time. I called the restaurant directly and they happily reduced our party size and also honored my request to move the reservation from 7:30 to 7pm, which I really appreciated. Lesson learned - Open Table is awesome (!) but always worth calling a restaurant directly if what you want isn't showing as available on Open Table.

Went to Ethiopic for a pre-theatre meal. The fish was outstanding and the other vegetarian dishes very good and flavorful. Nice heat in some of the dishes. The restaurant is beautifully designed and lends itself to quiet conversation.

Service was a bit slow and waitress was not attentive at all. First timers need a little guidance on how to order and eat the food and none was given. Food was good. Actually enjoyable for a very reasonable price but service was an issue and ultimately a detractor

Service was exceptionally low and inattentive. They are typically slow at this restaurant and we are ok with that but the inattentiveness was augmented this time where our server never came by to check on us while the neighboring table had a much better experience with their waitress.

Lovely, upscale Ethiopian restaurant. I'd recommend ordering the sampler platter, but be aware the sampler two is a lot of food! We particularly enjoyed the curried potatoes and the lentils.

I have been frequenting Ethiopic since they opened on H Street. Well before reservations were even an option. The Asa Tibs is my favorite, followed by the Signature lamb tibs. Always well prepared and delicious.

DC has lots of Ethiopian restaurants; this proved to be one of the best. Savory, appropriately spicy, and authentic selection, with unlimited injera. My friend and I ordered the vegetarian sampler plus beef ribs and “chicken curry” as the waitress called it. The chicken was a little tough but otherwise all was succulent. Their servers were slightly overwhelmed by a 75 percent filled dining room on a Friday night, but their smiles made up for their scarcity. Well worth the trek to H Street NE.

Found the lamb tibs and minish abesh (ground beef) entrees very tasty. The star of the show, however, was the Azifa salad, which was almost as good as the Yemisir Azifa at Red Sea in Adams-Morgan years ago.

My companion still regrets that one no longer gets a couple-three vegetable side dishes with each entrée as one used to do at Ethiopian restaurants. Only a pile of tomato salad came with our two entrees.

Overall Ethiopic is underwhelming. The welcome by the hostess was borderline rude. Then another person came to seat us at the worst table in the house, and we had reservations, and there were only 3 other parties in the place. Staff seemed a little unsure of themselves and no one was inviting. We switched tables to a seat by the window and two new staff members tended to us. Minutes later a couple was seated at that same bad table location and they asked to be moved as well. The food was just okay, portions were small compared to most Ethiopian restos. There are far better Ethiopian restaurants in DC. On a positive note, you can order Teff Injera. The decor is tattered with scuffed walls, chipping painting, and nicked funiture; the restaurant could use a refresh. I noticed prices are lower than when this spot first opened. Perhaps it was better in years past.

Hands down our favorite Ethiopian spot in the city. We live in Georgetown where there is whats been named as the best Ethiopian in the city and though its great we rather make the trek all the way to H street for this gem.
