Tastefull vegitarian dishes, but do not order the lamb meat. They serve chewy meat.

I have been frequenting Ethiopic since they opened on H Street. Well before reservations were even an option. The Asa Tibs is my favorite, followed by the Signature lamb tibs. Always well prepared and delicious.

Great dining experience for a group. We showed up late on a Friday night with 7 people, including 2 vegetarians, and they graciously seated us. Service was prompt and food was excellent! Always a good choice for diners with various food preferences.

I followed advice given and ordered the vegetarian sampler along with two lamb and one beef dishes. Previous reviews were not enthusiastic about the chicken dishes. The lamb and beef were excellent. Will go back.

DC has lots of Ethiopian restaurants; this proved to be one of the best. Savory, appropriately spicy, and authentic selection, with unlimited injera. My friend and I ordered the vegetarian sampler plus beef ribs and “chicken curry” as the waitress called it. The chicken was a little tough but otherwise all was succulent. Their servers were slightly overwhelmed by a 75 percent filled dining room on a Friday night, but their smiles made up for their scarcity. Well worth the trek to H Street NE.

Found the lamb tibs and minish abesh (ground beef) entrees very tasty. The star of the show, however, was the Azifa salad, which was almost as good as the Yemisir Azifa at Red Sea in Adams-Morgan years ago.

My companion still regrets that one no longer gets a couple-three vegetable side dishes with each entrée as one used to do at Ethiopian restaurants. Only a pile of tomato salad came with our two entrees.

Hands down our favorite Ethiopian spot in the city. We live in Georgetown where there is whats been named as the best Ethiopian in the city and though its great we rather make the trek all the way to H street for this gem.

Pleasant atmosphere. Outside seating. Excellent service. Great injera. Non-meat dishes better than meat dishes. Food and wine a bit expensive.

I love Ethiopic. They aren't fast but it is so worth the wait. The staff is lovely. The combination selections are excellent options and get the fish! Best fish ever!

It was our first time with Ethiopian cuisine. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful in explaining how the bread is used. We had the sampler platter with fish and a lamb dish which was our favorite part. The meal was more than enough for 2. It was a bit of a challenge to eat the fish without getting bones in most bites, even eating with our fingers. We enjoyed Ethiopian wine and beer. The biggest challenge is that the place was NOISY. It was very busy and the voices carried throughout the dining room so it was difficult to have conversation. A review I read said it was not noisy so I was disappointed in that, for sure...

As always, the freshness and absence of greasiness sets Ethiopic's fare well above most of the competition. Washington, DC, has a lot of Ethiopian restaurants, but this is the best.

Food was great! The ambience was nice and intimate for a date as the restaurant was dimly lit and had fewer tables; however, it was super loud inside so we opted to sit outside. Service was average.

Our college-age daughter recommended Ethiopic after reading fantastic reviews, and we were delighted to visit with her while she is home for the summer. After an afternoon of walking through galleries in DC, it was a pleasure to relax with a cool glass of wine in this beautiful restaurant. The service was pleasant and attentive, and the food was tremendous. I highly recommend the vegetarian sampler!

I've had better meals at Ethiopic. We ordered a vegetarian sampler (the large one) and a meat sampler. The food was all quite tasty, but the chicken legs in the doro wat were inedibly tough. The chicken should be tender enough to pull off the bone with injera, but I couldn't get meat off the bone even with my teeth.
The restaurant was louder than I remembered, which was unfortunate because we were there to catch up with friends we hadn't seen in several years.
This is not the restaurant's fault, but there was a crew filming something for the TV show "Delicious Destinations", and they were the loudest group there. Ironically, a young PA then came around to shush all the other diners for the filming.
Anyway, I recommend installing some acoustic tiles.

I went to Ethiopic on Saturday, July 16th around 8:30 PM. I was fairly empty for a Saturday but, I am glad because we were seated right away. The food was delicious and very memorable.

We were in town for the weekend and wanted to try a different type of cuisine. We had the Azifa (Appetizer), which was a cold lentil salad that was served with Injera, the Ethiopic Signature Lamb Tibs, and the Awaze Beef Tibs. It was more than enough food for two people. But, because we were not given any instruction on how to go about eating Ethiopian food by the server. Considering it was our first time eating this type of food we would have liked some sort of instructions.

Even though we were full we continued to eat all of the food, which had to be eaten by hand. All of the food was tasty, well seasoned and mouth watering. If you like a hint of heat/ spicy with your food than they will provide you with everything you need in one bite of the food. We enjoyed the Timatim, which is a cold tomato salad so much that we asked to get some to take home to eat with the left over bread and Azifa.

We order from the Ethopina wine list: the Axumite (sweet red wine) and the honey white wine. Which were both delicious although, I wish they had a wine tasting flight so we can have tried them all.

I think the servers could have treated us a bit better by asking their guest if it was there first time at the establishment. It would help those like us who had to figure out how to go about this meal alone.

I would return to this restaurant anytime I am in the area.

Good, solid Ethiopian food. We went for an early afternoon dinner with the kids on a beautiful sunny day. We enjoyed sitting outside. We asked about getting a non-spicy version of the meat sampler platter. They happily obliged, but I wish they would have told us they were just going to bring us twice the amount of the non-spicey food rather than alternates. I was really looking forward to trying more variety. But it was a nice meal.
