Wonderful host and great atmosphere. Food was tasty and interesting, in particular the salads.
My only small disappointment was the handheld device used for settling the bill. The suggested tips were calculated using the post tax amount, not pretax. It’s not a material amount of money but it’s poor form. Also the text description or a 20% tip was a bit smug. I would reword.
Food was delicious, service was very good.
Being a Carmel local, you see restaurants come and go. You see Chefs, move around from restaurants. It doesn't take long to figure out who can really cook. Chef Soerke Peters is on of those Chefs. Wait staff pleasant. Chef always around. Just received another Green Award. He is a "hands on Chef" with a smile.
It is truly a gem in Carmel. It is a must Try. The reason we love it, it is a restaurant, That has gone back to the Traditions of Old Carmel. Food, Service with a smile, and ambience. The Chef wants your dining experience to be special. When someone orders the charcuterie platter, Chef comes out and personally slices and arranges the platter for you! If you don't give it a try, you are missing a true gem of Carmel!
Awesome chef. Friendly service. Uncomfortable wooden seats.
Food was wonderful, great taste and good menu variety. Service excellent. A great place
Amazing and cozy little French restaurant. Douglas made the experience great!!
Our first time there. What a great place. We are returning there for dinner tonight, New Years Eve !!!
Authentic and delicious French food served in a cozy, intimate setting
Hard to find
It was great in every respect.
Everything was superb.
Six of ate here Christmas weekend. The owners are very attentive to customers and the food is amazing. We all agreed that we can't wait to come back and enjoy another meal. I had the bouillabaisse. Others had the french onion soup, steak frites, boudin, pates...everything was fabulous!
Charming new local spot. Still don’t have a correct sign, and all the menu items, but quite good and fairly priced. Service is consistently attentive. Always a nice evening.
A nice, fairly priced neighborhood spot. Food is well prepared and the setting is vintage Carmel. Service is consistently good and friendly.
The food at this new restaurant was very good. The service needs work. Not enough wait staff
We came for our anniversary after checking out the many offerings of Carmel. The wafting smells beckoned us to the cozy restaurant. The owner and her staff were so friendly, accommodating and generous. We were served a glass of Prosecco while we waited and offered refills even after we were at our table. They brought a complimentary, delectable duck pate with the most delicious homemade mustard and fig jam, with yummy grilled French bread. The charming owner kept checking in with us and brought us another glass of the new Beaujolais Nouveau they had just gotten in.
Our waiter was friendly and attentive, despite the restaurant being super busy. We had creamy Brie wrapped in crisp, warm prosciutto with brioche. fresh, fluffy Bibb salad with a delightful dressing and shaved veggies, that was large enough to share.
We had a melt in your mouth tender beef bourguignon with the deepest, most flavorful sauce that Julia Child would have envied! The chef came to meet us and was busy making sure everyone was taken care of.
We shared a crepe Suzette for dessert, even though we didn’t need it! Parfait! All of our fellow diners seemed as pleased as we were with their experience and the outstanding food and service! We wanted to come back for breakfast!! Wish we lived close, but you can bet we will be back next time we visit!
Service is spotty and slow. Our food was good, but I wouldn't try it again for awhile. Our waiter spent a lot of time looking at the computer screen with his back to the room. We had to ask to put our order in. This restaurant has possibilities, but they need to get organized.
A great rustic country french restaurant with fair prices in Carmel. The crew from Basil's is here now and doing a great job.
Horrible service. They had one waiter for the entire restaurant on a Saturday night. I did not have my bottle of wine for 20 minutes after I sat down to the table. My dinner companion’s oysters starter arrived 10 minutes after I had completed my salad starter. We sent the oysters back and our entrees immediately came out, but that was after we had been at our table for 50 minutes. Food was fine but not worth the poor service. Too many other good choices to choose from in Carmel.
A really great little bistro with some outstanding dishes. The clam chowder with bone marrow is one of the best chowders I've ever had -- and before I had this I would have told you that you can't get good clam chowder outside of New England. The pork rillettes were also the best we've ever had. Good French selections on the wine list, especially a lovely Santenay. Five stars for the appetizers and wines.
The main courses were good but not stellar. The huckleberry sauce on the venison didn't taste much like huckleberries. And the cassoulet was a bit dry: the chicken just couldn't successfully stand in for duck confit. I did like having an egg in the cassoulet, and the pork-rabbit meatball was excellent and unusual.
A great little spot in the middle of Carmel. An original, but throughly French menu. Good service, great food and reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere.
Excellent French food with American inspiration. We just returned from trip to Spain and France. Recipes at Etats-Unis are very authentic and delicious! Reasonable prices for a French restaurant in Carmel. Definitely worth supporting this lovely little restaurant!
The food we ordered was a bit pricey, for the quality.
Went with a group of 8, service was great and food was very good. Should be even better when they get the fryer working.
Ew spot with some of the crew from Basil’s. Food was excellent and exceptionally reasonable, especially for Carmel. Brand new so it will probably only get better. Sign still say Lafayette, but should change shortly. Try it.
Came for dinner on a relatively quiet Saturday. Food and service were wonderful - although some items were not available seeing that the restaurant just started offering dinner. The place holds outstanding promise and I can't wait to experience it when it fully gets up and running as it has the potential to be truly outstanding.
