was appropriately salted and with a balanced fish taste. I prefer caviar straight up with none of the accoutrements that accompanied the serving. When I saw the mother of pearl spoons I knew these folk knew what they were dong when it came to caviar. Our guests raved about the pork. My apologies as I have not more details to share. My wife and I each had the salad Lyonnaise and would not have it again. We asked about a low tannin Pinot Noir option and what was served was spot on, very low tannin on the lighter side jut as we prefer.

My second time here, the cheese and charcuterie board was excellent, the waitress let me change the cheeses that went on it so that was nice. French onion soup and the duck breast were also excellent and unfortunately we did not have room for dessert but I had the pear and almond tart on my first visit and it blew me away!

Average. I've been wanting to try Et voila for quite some time... and was a little disappointed. The service was slow and the quality of the food was sub par... although the presentation was nice. The overall value was not there for me.

Mussels have always been excellent here, although the portions have been reduced over time and we had to beg to get bread to go with it. The miniature portion of the crustillant de reblochon appetizer was disgusting, it tasted of reused or stale vegetable oil. The main dishes were fine, the meats ( one lamb, one steak and one duck, were cooked medium rare or medium as requested, and the accompaniments were simple but good. The sauces (for the lamb and steak) were delicious, although the "mint chimichurri" for the lamb was a tiny smattering on the plate that was hardly sufficient for a couple of bytes, let alone the whole dish. Monkfish was cooked just right, and was nicely presented, also delicious. We opted for cheese rather than dessert, and here again the portions were so small we felt this was rude; still the persentation with honey and various jams , and a few slices of bread is good, and the selection of cheese is interesting: we were happy to taste petit agour, cremeux de borgogne and pont l'eveque, all of which we enjoyed.

Were not impressed with service. Already mentioned not getting bread. But \generally server was inattentive. Another example, I asked to let wine breath before serving (we brought our own, and you should know they have a very steep $20 corking fee, but their wines are marked up a huge amount as well), but server stater to poor, regardless.

At one point hey did not have enough wine glasses for table. We had to wait until they washed some -- quite some wait.

We have enjoyed et voila many times, but over time it seems as the prices increased, the quality decreased.

Our reservation was for 3 people, but the restaurant was expecting only 2. However, they "managed" to seat us. It was very crowded, and one table of 4 people was extremely loud. My husband's mussels were excellent, but the restaurant week menu items were so-so. My veal was so tough that I had to request a steak knife (it didn't help) and the pound cake was dry with not enough sauce. My friend's brussel sprouts were not crisp. The wines were fine. I would return to try something different, although the menu is a bit pricey.

I hate giving bad reviews, but I was expecting something special and it wasn't ..
I order the raviolis and it was too sweet for my taste, as my main course I order the veal, it was ok, a little bland, and for dessert I order a the creme brulee which was very good!!! the highlight of dinner!!!
service was good!! the place it very nice!!

but with all the restaurants in San Diego, I don't believe I will be coming back anytime soon

Was a bit disappointed by this place. Went for the vegetarian menu for restaurant week. Two of the options were ravioli :-| I got the appetizer ravioli and my husband got the mushroom ravioli entree. There were THREE pieces in his meal. At ~$23 a plate, that is pretty outrageous. That's over $7 a ravioli. The only other veg entree for restaurant week was sauteed vegetables. It was good, but not far beyond my own cooking abilities. To be sure, the food was good but overpriced. For vegetarians. The wine pairing was very nice. The desserts were disproportionately large. Def will not be back for restaurant week. Might hit the happy hour at some point in the future when I'm feeling flush and forgiving.

Thank you for you review, we are sorry you think we are expensive. Our restaurant week menu was $40 for 3 course, so we are not sure where $23/plate comes in. Our wild mushroom raviolis main course have 5 pieces in a portion. So I'm not sure what happened but we wish you had said something while you were here so we could have made sure you left more than excited about your dinner with us. We are looking forward to impress you next time.

The restaurant week menu was a huge fail. The regular menu is great so I decided to bring my mom here for her birthday dinner. Since it’s restaurant week I thought we’d try what they were offering for their “special”. The portions were ridiculously small. I’m all for portion control but I was almost embarrassed with our guests that I had suggested we eat here when our meals arrived.
We ended up ordering two extra entrees (the scallops) to share amongst the table. We ended up paying even more than if wasn’t restaurant week and we had ordered regularly. We actually didn’t have any intention of being thrifty. We just wanted fine dining. I wish our server had informed us of how small the portions would be when ordering from the restaurant week menu. We were ordering their better wines so that should’ve been an indicator.

As usual, everything was absolutely outstanding. We were there for restaurant week. The butternut squash ravioli were out of this world good. Although everything we have had in the past have been really good, the sauces are perfection and delicious, making even a somewhat (turkey, fish, prime rib, veal) usual protein item absolutely sumptuous. As if the wonderful wasn't enough, the service is always wonderful. All of the people are unbelievably pleasant and cheerful. You simply can't go wrong with Et Voila!.

Every meal at Et Voila! is a delight. We've eaten there a dozen times over the past few years, both when they had special dinner menus (such as for Restaurant Week or Valentine's Day) and on random weekdays when we've just felt like a dinner out. No matter how busy the restaurant is, the service is always unhurried and well paced, with helpful, friendly servers. The bar makes scrumptious cocktails, and the food is always terrific - we've eaten most of the offerings from the appetizer and main course sections over time and there's only deliciousness no matter which item we select. Desserts are equally wonderful. The only problem with the restaurant is that it's tough to narrow down a dinner order because there are so many outstanding choices!

What a perfect way to celebrate my birthday! Everything was 5 Star. The menu offerings for Restaurant Week were interesting and tasty, especially the ravioli, veal and blueberry tarte. The comfortable banquette, the subdued lighting, the moderate noise level, the attentive service, and the delicious food made this a memorable evening.

We love this place. We live in North County, and come for special occasions only. Every time we eat here we are amazed how good the food is. We are yet to try a dish we didn’t like. Vine list and cocktails are very good as well. Today we brought our friends, who live in Normandy. They loved the food and ambiance as well. They felt it was equal to best restaurants at home in France.

Second time at this restaurant. First time was good, but disappointing this time. My main dish was cold and the source was drying up on the plate. Apparently it was at the kitchen for a long time. The source was heavy for the people who does not drink. I wish they can adjust.

Very "French" though the only French employee we ran into was the host. Nevertheless it was right out of Paris. Food was wonderful (the Frites were the best I've had this side of the Atlantic). After a full day on my tourist feet the full bar was also welcome.

In town for a conference and read good things about this restaurant. We were not disappointed. We ate truly first-rate French bistro-inspired dishes in a much more comfortable and convivial atmosphere than the typical French bistro. The dishes were traditional but with a few twists: fresh, local vegetables substituted in, some unusual ingredients or flavors---all welcome and delicious. The salad d'automne was spectacular. Had a lovely Gigondas to wash everything down. Would frequent this place if I lived in San Diego.
