Estuary at the Conrad DC
My first visit and won't be my last. Three friends visited Estuary with me and we each enjoyed the treat. Two of us ordered Maryland crab rolls, which were stuffed with crab. My west coast friend ordered the Atlantic salmon and he enjoyed it. He stated it was the best he ever had. Another friend, who's a southern boy at heart, ordered the shrimp and grits. He definitely could've eaten more. The server was outstanding. He visited the table often but allowed us privacy too. Thank you
Be careful of food allergies, they asked but did not follow through on this! Could be very dangerous for health.
We were early (had been to a matinee), so we were the first diners to arrive. The service was lovely - attentive but not obnoxious. That said, for the price, the food should be a lot better. The shrimp and grits plate was very tasty - though 3 shrimp does not a "plate" make. Was just ordered as an appetizer, though, so we didn't go hungry. My son ordered the pot roast - it was tough as shoe leather. They graciously offered him something else (he selected the hangar steak, I believe). I am told it was tasty, but the deconstructed mashed potatoes were more like whipped, flavorless egg whites. I had the sea bass, which was very tasty - it came with sunchoke falafel - which looked like falafel, but was more like too-fried hushpuppies. Probably a lot of finesse in the cooking, but not much flavor. Because of the pot roast issue, we were told that dessert would be comped - a nice touch. (though, in fact, they only comped one dessert). The deconstructed key lime pie had coconut and basil flavors - perhaps a nod to Thai cuisine, but it didn't really hold together. The ginger puck with shaved ice cream similarly did not coalesce into a coherent dessert. Even the cappuccino was forgettable. We wanted to love it, but both agreed that it wouldn't necessitate a return trip.
Wasn't impressed and could have been better. Menu options extremely limited.
Blake was a fantastic waiter; fish was so fresh and innovative
Tasting menu with wine pairing was excellent. The desert left something to be desired, I had a semi sweet chocolate cake. Overall a great experience.
Got the chefs tasting menu
Tuna tart rare had little taste. Besides the wasabi powder which hit after the tuna was already swallowed
Wagyu was overcooked.
Gnocchi was too tough.
Crab roll was excellent.
The service was exceptional but the food was disappointing. The flavors were confusing and the portions were tiny. I would only return for the cocktails.
Amazing experience. Food and service both were phebominal.
Last reservation before the shutdown. I have nothing bad to say about this experience.
Good choice for a business dinner. Good ambience, low noise level, tables are spaced well. The food was hit or miss. Some plates (the swordfish schnitzel) were excellent. Others (the waygu, the shishito peppers) were significant misses - the waygu was oily to the point of inedibility and the shishito peppers were practically raw. I would give this place another try for the ambiance and potential.
Had a wonderful delicious ecperience
Food was just okay - atmosphere and service excellent.
Brilliant food with a menu that allows for a small casual meal or an all-out formal dinner. Lovely, attentive ambiance
We celebrated our 29th Anniversary this Sunday and this staff was Phenomenal.
The food was awesome and they provided awesome cake treats to close out our event.

The ambiance, setting, and experience second to none.
Enjoyed the variety of small plates. Lots of seafood and fish choices. Would enjoy more vegetable options and fewer carbs. After all, the Parker rolls are excellent and enough carbs for the evening.
The sommelier was very helpful and engaging.
Fabulous space. But! My husband and I had the omelettes which were the size of an egg roll. Try the omelettes at the Four Seasons for about the same price. The food does not live up to the space in which it is served.
Hands down the best meal and service we've ever had. Go with the tasting menu. Worth every penny!
Fantastic meal and service! Went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The staff went out if their way to make her birthday special. The food was divine! Everything was delicious.we are looking forward to going back and try different menu items!
the service made up for the food. I'm afraid they just tried so hard to be unusual, that they forgot to taste the food. it was only moderate. so for a place so highly recommended, I was disappointed. the music was awful...dissonant. I was eating, not a loud jazz club. But the people were nice.
Very small portions, but amazingly delicious. They have a nice separate bar area that we met friends at after that was great, but they were understaffed and the service was really slow. We had to go up to the bar and order our drinks because they were too busy and only came around to the tables sporadically. One of the best margaritas I’ve had though.
Outside of it being cold inside, the food and service were excellent. The salmon was amazing!
Amazing experience! Will definitely go back again.
The service was excellent, hospitality is key! Staff was friendly but not invasive. The views and setting was superb! The steak tartare and Maryland crab cake were standouts... The octopus was alright, but my preference is for grilled and not fried...so that’s on me! My guests had the hanger steak and I had the lamb, I think we were enjoying each other so much that I forgot to take notice on these plates...sorry. We will come again for the food, atmosphere and the service...and to see the menu evolve as the restaurant grows with time, care and love. Have fun! Pictures posted on Instagram.
We loved our dining experience at Estuary. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and creative. The shrimp cocktail was incredible. My husband said it was the best he ever had. The Parker House rolls were amazing! We will definitely be back again when we are in town.
Absolutely loved the food and ambiance! Great service.
Fantastic team and fare! A DC highlight! Fun and updated ambiance, and a new favorite!
Staff was very attentive and worked well as a team. They were very polite and service was excellent.
Had a really great birthday dinner at Estuary. Healthy portions, so probably could have shared a dessert instead of getting my own. Great service from the server and sommelier. Nice view of the kitchen and City Center. Not too loud, which is one of our pet peeves. Husband had trouble avoiding the bone the fish sticks, so you have to be a dainty eater for that app. Would definitely recommend it!
We had an amazing bday dinner at Estuary
Amazing staff ! Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere
Thank u thank u thank u
We will be back soon
Was amazing, serviceman AbdulKhalq was knowledgeable about the menu
Food was mediocre to inconsistent. I swapped (the same tasting menu course) dishes with a fellow diner that had a complaint, who’s dish was completely over seasoned in comparison to mine and one others who’s wasn’t seasoned at all. The beef and broccoli dish on the tasting menu was as poorly thought out as it was executed. Serving just stems, no flowers, of the broccoli for a stringy vegetable paired with a stringy, over-cooked, and over-seasoned short rib wasn’t a great choice. The ambiance is awesome, and the wine list is pretty incredible, so stick to the bar the restaurant is subpar at best.
The food and service were amazing. The brussel sprouts are life changing.
Scenic view of City Center, great service & amazing food. Lively, upbeat ambiance in an upscale modern minimalist decor.
Definitely a cute vibe. The food was mediocre and over priced.
My wife and I visited Estuary as our final "nice" meal before we become parents, and we couldn't have asked for better. Having previously visited Ink in Los Angeles, Brian Voltaggio's previous restaurant, we were happy to see the same sense of wonder brought to the plate with Chesapeake sourced ingredients. The crab roll, seared flounder, and monkfish were standouts.
Ended the weekend with Brunch and it was phenomenal. I would highly recommend the Croque Monsieur and the Crab Roll (similar time a lobster roll)
Service was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. With floor to circle if windows looking out at the city it was quite dreamy.
We also had snacks and beverages Saturday afternoon in the lounge which was excellent and highly recommended.
The fish sticks, Brussels, and shellfish crackers are some of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
I love Estuary. The ambiance is nice— not many quiet brunch places you can find in DC! And all the natural light from the big windows makes it for a lovely morning. I enjoyed the dinner menu more from my past visit, but brunch was still quite good. Definitely worth a visit if you’re willing to spend the $.
Not really enough superlatives. If I had to pick one word, it would be impeccable.
