Estuary at the Conrad DC
Excellent food and beautiful space
The food is good and great presentations.
Food was amazing, service was amazing! I had a special request to meet Chef Bryan as it was my boyfriends birthday and we love Top Chef and they were able to arrange it. It was such a special experience that we will never forget. 10/10 would recommend!
Highly recommend, beautiful place, good food and great service!
Service was excellent and so were the starters and main dishes. The crab roll and octopus were fantastic. So was the lamb and the cod. Wine list was good and many high quality reasonably priced choices.
We went there on Thursday for dinner, anticipating a menu for restaurant week. To our dismay, it only offered lunch for RW. Since its website is not clearly marked as such, the dining room manager quickly amended the situation with complimentary appetizers.
We ended up with two complimentary teaser dishes , and a dessert sampler ( rum cakes, and chocolate/ raspberry squares) as well. The three appetizers: Parker House rolls, Avocado salad, and crevice were all excellent. Two of us had Hanger Steak, one with Salmon , they were all beautifully presented and tasty.
We were very impressed with the staff’s professionalism, our server Anton is to be commended for his thoughtful service. One plus is that where we were seating, we had panoramic view of the City Center Park.
Overall Estuary is an exciting place, with a different vibe from the usual DC restaurants. I will be back, especially with my out- of - town guests!
The food was a disappointment. Full Stop. The calamari was dry and over cooked. The salmon, sautéed, was tasteless. Not even salt. I asked if the salmon had remained in the freezer too long. The waiter replied it comes in fresh each day. Well, somewhere along the cooling chain, the salmon got lost. Very disappointed with my lunch at the Estuary at the Conrad DC
Best meal I've had all year. The sunflower seed risotto is life-changing. Should arrest every chef and cook in that kitchen for possession with intent to distribute, because the food might as well be drugs. 1000000% would come back.
There were dirty tables around us when we arrived and were not cleaned until 5 or 10 minutes later. The avocado dish was sitting in a pond of oil and was flavorless. The tuna tartare and steak tartare were lost in their preparation — the steak tartare was drowning in a mound of French onion cream. I had the hangar steak as my entree and it also came out swimming in sauce. It was extremely salty and almost inedible. The Voltaggio brothers even made an appearance, tasting the food and looking around — hard to believe they sent the food out as prepared. We were there celebrating my partners birthday and our waitress was really sweet and sent out a cake, very appreciative of the gesture but the lemon poppyseed cake was hard as a rock and so dry that you couldn’t eat it. Wine service was great and the crab roll was delicious but they really missed the mark on everything else.
From the moment we pulled up to the valet to our last bite of desert, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and professional.
The venue is beautiful and spotless.
The food was delicious and looked like pieces of art.
Although our server was pleasant, I think he had too many tables. It took way too long for him to come back to the table once he took my drink order. Another gentleman delivered my drink and we had to flag down another server to take our order. When it's a business lunch, often times we need to get in and out. He did appear thee quarters of the way through our meal to check on us, at which time I asked for the check for fear we would not see him for a while.
An exciting new restaurant in DC! Cannot wait to return...
Small portions carefully prepared.
We went for Restaurant Week lunch. The actual restaurant space is quite small with an open kitchen. The regular menu (which we were also given) seems way overpriced for the size of the portions, some of which were dollhouse small. Even with the Restaurant Week deal, the value was still questionable. For appetizers we had the calamari and the crab roll. The calamari was good. The crab roll was great, but it was 1/3 the size of a hot dog bun, though meticulously prepared. For mains, we had the salmon and the hamburger. The salmon was the smallest portion of salmon I had ever seen. It was ok but nothing extraordinary or interesting. It came with a thimble sized portion of risotto that, charitably, was too small to be memorable. The hamburger, served with much acclaim and with fries, was small and average tasting. Both would have been poor values based on their usual menu price. The dessert was a chocolate mouse with a bunch of other flavors and textures concoction -- even by usual Voltaggio brothers standards -- that I cannot recommend. All in all, I was disappointed, and am glad it was only at Restaurant Week prices. I miss Range!
Visited for restaurant week DC and it was an INCREDIBLE meal. My only complaint was that the pace of service was delayed because the waiting staff was booked past the reasonable capacity. However, the service was impeccable nonetheless.
Everything was amazing as always. I’ve been here quite a few times and I am more and more impressed each time
This was a first-time visit for our group who was celebrating a dear friend’s birthday. The contemporary setting was visually gorgeous and expansive in feel and following dinner all loved the rooftop bar. The food was a bit uneven. Having ordered several items for the table to share, we were surprised when an item or two came out from the chef complimentary. We were not prepared for such and could have ordered less has we known ahead of time. The hanger steak entree was very good but the pesto rigatoni...eh. Dessert was key lime pie for the table and we all just found its formation to be quite odd and not as enjoyable in flavor as it cited have been.
Service was beautiful. Pacing of the meal was perfect. Delicious food
Delicious new addition to dc. Our waitress was phenomenal. They surprised me with a birthday cake. I'd definitely return
What a beautiful space for dining has been created in the new Conrad DC Hotel! The food was delicious, the wait staff attentive (thank you, Bruce!), and the overall experience very enjoyable! We could have stayed & continued relaxing in such a lovely setting!
The rice cracker and grassy yogurt was definitely forgettable. The breadsticks and pimento dip excellent. Lamb steak and pork belly was good and very artistically presented as was the crab roll appetizer which was excellent.
Service was a tad too much at times
Wonderful experience, Guillermo was a fantastic server. Great mix of good ingredients, nice molecular gastronomic flair and solid execution. Especially enjoyed the scallop crudo, the crab roll and the mozzarella disguised as a tomato.
What a culinary oasis in the center of the city! The food was delightful, and the service was unparalleled. We felt taken care of and utterly satisfied. Can recommend all of the food for being innovative yet simple while being oh so flavorful!
Dinner was perfect! Took in some DC views, expanded my tastebuds, and service was lovely.
First time here, open kitchen and appears to be a small dining room but it has more than one section (interesting shaped restaurant). Service was attentive. Menu options were interesting especially share plates, definitely locally inspired. We had ceviche, scallop crisp, shisito peppers. For a main, the cod was fantastic (ramen base). My husband had the hanger steak with grits and gave it much praise. Acoustics are challenging (it seemed loud even torch only 5-6 tables seated with us. Good wine list - a Sonoma Pinot followed by a Burgundy, both fantastic.
The Voltagio brothers have struck gold again. Dinner at Estuary was the most amazing experience. Every dish was prepared with the upmost care as evidenced by watching the open kitchen staff. The locally sourced ingredients and blend of flavors and textures surpasses anything experienced to date from these guys. Our waiter, Anton and all of the staff were impeccable. Everyone’s depth of knowledge in every dish made the experience even more enjoyable. Wine list provides excellent options throughout the meal. I highly recommend the culinary experience and impeccable service provided. Well worth the 5 hour trip to enjoy the most recent Voltagio project.
Imaginative food. Well prepared and presented and delicious. Very expensive but it never felt pretentious or too expensive for what they delivered.
Fantastic experience, staff was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, fresh and delicious. The tuna tartare was unlike anything we’ve ever had-simply wonderful. Great wine list, elegant atmosphere, terrific service.
Our server Bruce was fantastic and took great care of us. Food was phenomenal and my wife's favorite of the trip. Nice setting, ambiance, and view out of the large windows. Would certainly visit again.
OMG! I ate at some amazing restaurants while I was here including Michelean star places, and this one was my absolute favorite. It was nothing less than an imaginative and joyous meal. They put the art back in the culinary arts.
I had the mozzarella disguised as a tomato and Maryland crab roll to start. Both were divine. I followed it with the lamb tenderloin and belly. That lamb belly was succulent and superb!
All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough! Bruce was my server, and he took great care of me all night. I love the open kitchen. It was nice to watch the chefs work their magic. Do yourself a favor and get in now while you can!
My co-workers and I had dinner at Estuary during a conference we were attending. There were five of us. The meal and experience is certainly the highlight of this visit to Washington. I don't really know where to start, the beautiful design of the space which gave us plenty of room to sit down and not even hear any of the other conversations in the room; the service that was impeccable, from offering 3 different water options to holding back an entree until one of our party had returned to the table; or the food that included the most subtle perfect touches, classic flavors presented in inventive ways. The experience is not inexpensive, but beyond worth every penny. A special shout out to all the staff. Rarely have I had the opportunity to be treated to such pleasant interactions.
The food is creative, local and fresh, the ambience is wonderful, and our server Bruce was perfect and top-notch. Highly recommended
Overall a very nice experience but inconsistent in food quality. Very professional service made up for a lot of awkward details in the food. Some selections were wonderful while others were head-scratchers. For example, ahi tuna appetizer had rice paper thin slice of tuna overlaying thick chunky tomato layer on crusty bread. Hard to tell there was any ahi in it at all. It's nice to have freshness and variety in a menu but several selections we were looking forward to had been removed from the menu. All in all not a bad meal, but just not a very memorable dinner. The highlights did not make up for the unfortunate items. The atmosphere is quiet but a bit sterile. Both of our cocktails were prepared perfectly, and with the impeccable service, it made it easy to relax. Because the menu apparently changes often I would consider going back if there were more things on the current menu that we liked but I can't give this an unqualified high recommendation. At least it wasn't overpriced.
(As an aside, I know they're probably not related, but the rooftop bar has a very sloppy inconsistent bartender. For example, the same cocktails tasted completely different a second time. The view isn't even all that great up there.)
The decor is ultra modern. Wonderful views of the city. The service was excellent. The food presentation was artistic, and the food was exceptional. Good wine list.
Yummy and delicious. Will for sure come back
The restaurant is excellent by all means - chic and refined. Michael our server was outstanding and professional. I will definitely return. The restaurant interior is simply wow
Best staff and best service we’ve had in a long time. Staff was so well trained to welcome us and keep a close eye on us. Every dish was presented and then explained. Water, drinks, amuse-bouche, appetizers, main, desert, dessert, coffee, dessert amuse-bouche, everything was so well served and explained. Staff was so friendly, engaging, and really cared about our experience.
And oh my god, the food! Everything was a wonderful combination of flavors, textures, unexpected combinations, and surprises. So delicious and so much fun!
This is what dining out should be!
I was really looking forward to eating at Estuary, but the food didn’t live up to the beautiful surroundings. The food was fine - my kale salad and tuna tartare were good, though I make a better pizza at home. But none of it justified the ridiculous prices. $6 for an iced tea? Really? Spending $60 on a good but not great lunch that didn’t include any alcohol is not ok.
Great food, tables far enough apart to have conversations, super cool hotel.
Came here for the first time and was blown away by the service and the food. Check out the roof top bar, which has amazing views and great staff. I will for sure be returning here. Thanks for a great food experience.
Sublime. The service & food were excellent.
