    We got the ham and cheese board, Bibb salad and smash burger. Food was quite good but cheese board overpriced. Service was not good. When we arrived at the hostess station she was on the phone and did not even acknowledge our arrival with eye contact or a head nod. We were seated and it was quite some time before anyone even acknowledged us. No one came back to check our food, replenish our water or offer us another round of drinks. I flagged someone down for the latter. Requested a dessert menu that never arrived. Then had to request our check be brought. Expect this service at a chain type of restaurant, not at a fine dining establishment.

    The restaurant has beautiful architecture and friendly, pleasant, professional staff but a surprising lack of seafood entrees for a restaurant named Estuary that bills itself as focused on fare from waters. There was only one seafood dish available at lunch and then a mishmash of other dishes, including a generic ham sandwich on bread cut from a larger loaf that could be sold at the CostCo deli counter. Fine in a pinch but underwhelming and not the elevated dining experience we were hoping for from a fairly expensive business lunch inside a luxury hotel.

    The food was not that flavorful let alone for the price. The service is awesome but the food doesn't match. The crab hush puppies were salty and not enough crab in it was like eating a bad doughnut. The rockfish had crispy skin but the fish itself and its accompaniments were not seasoned enough and nothing spectacular.

    Really loved Estuary! The taste of the food was great in every way and I really enjoyed the restaurant as a whole. We had the restaurant week menu and 1 appetizer from the a la carte menu. Even with 3 courses and an appetizer I still felt hungry after leaving so that is my only compliant. The food was delicious but the portions were small.

    This place was phenomenal, amazing service and best seafood I have had in DC. Mark was the best server and several of us came back to dine a second time because of our first experience with Mark and how delicious the food was. Definitely a must visit restaurant when visiting DC!

    Absolutely *amazing* meal and beautiful restaurant aesthetically. I am not sure if Estuary is a Michelin star restaurant but if it’s not it should be. The rockfish was amazing, as was the fish dip and tagliatelle. Excellent wine recommendations, had a nice bottle of wine, La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva, 2010. All in all a fantastic experience. Would highly recommend.

    Entrees were disappointing. Seafood carbonara was misleading in its label, the sausage was lost and there was some grittiness, presumably from the clams or scallops. The rabbit was unremarkable.

    We had a great meal. My wife loved her Caesars salad and I loved the bibb salad. She thoroughly enjoyed the seafood carbonara. I had two small plate enterees--the delectable shellfish pot and the amazing baked oysters.

    I hate to leave a poor review, but this was a very sad dining experience. I must say though that Michael the wine director, our server and the staff were all lovely. The restaurant is very glamorous and we had a terrific table by the window (after asking to be moved from a table by the entrance and coat closet). The food - the complimentary popovers were burnt and tasted acrid. We ordered the caviar service which was beautifully presented and came with potato chips which were simultaneously crispy and soggy/soft - weird. The hush puppies were so over-fried they were black. We sent them back. They came back only slightly lighter and tasted like charcoal. We didn’t eat and they removed from the bill. The pork blade was tasty but quite rare in the middle. A complimentary desert, as it was a birthday, was gummy and flavorless. We left hungry. The wine was fantastic! The staff is top notch!

    Very disappointed after seeing the restaurant listed in Food and Wine Magazine. I assume they must have paid for it. As a former chef, I was very disappointed in the food. First off, they brought us pop-overs that I considered burned. We asked for a replacement but they came out the same. A pop-over should not be dark and it should not have a grainy burned texture. The Mushroom Strata was undercooked and mushy. The Lamb Albondigas meatballs were barely average. The White Peppercorn Tagliatelle with vegetables was also very disappointing. The only decent dish was the Seared Rock Fish. The positions were pathetic, I had to get more food after leaving. I don't mind paying for great food, I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the US. I would never go back. Only bright spot was the server who was nice. If I were giving a rating for food, it would get a 3. I hate giving bad reviews after cooking professionally for 40 years, but this is the only way to let them know they need to do better.

    Service impeccable, wonderful textures and flavors, the tagliatelle and smoked fish dip were some of the best. Rafael was a delight, attentive but space to eat and enjoy dinner and conversation. View of the city was beautiful. My new favorite place.

    I've been here before and was disappointed to find a whole new menu which did not include the Crab/shrimp sandwich roll. The menu also seemed limited in the amount of selections to choose from. Our server, Rafael was very polished but not fake and gets very high ratings. The view was very nice and certainly adds to the experience. While all the food was good as you would expect I struggle at the thought of returning again because the portions are all small and for the prices - well I cannot justify $36 for an entree that was at best an appetizer sized portion. I would say double the size of the seafood carbonara as it is an entree not an appetizer (very tasty) and price it at $28. The soft shell crab special ($25) came on a small appetizer plate and looked too small to legally harvest. Then again what do I know I am just the customer. Lastly, not the end of the world but I wrote comments when making my reservation online and called to speak to the staff that this was a special 40th birthday for my date. Not a candle, not a sparkler, not a mention, until I told our server upon leaving and he said to her, enjoy your birthday. Obviously, the back office and management staff did not communicate with the front end staff. Not a good last impression for an expensive meal. If you were me and had this experience would you return?

    Sorry but I was not impressed...huge space, impersonal, eating dinner on low easy chairs is not comfortable, food was ok (beets were ok, collard greens were above average and the shrimp cocktail disappointing...overcooked, sitting on already melting ice) and the waiter was nice but not attentive (HAD TOO MANY TABLES PERHAPS).
