I have dined at EG since it opened as Estilo Gaucho, and it was once the best churrascaria style restaurant in the area. I had known the two owners, David and Alex, since their days at another similar restaurant. But things have taken a turn for the worse and I probably won't return. The wait staff was indifferent, aloof, and ghostly (i.e. once we sat they disappeared). The evening was partially saved by one of the managers, Odie, but even he could not pull it together. For a restaurant where you spend $$, service should never be an issue. The tips earned usually support a professional wait staff. Egregious service errors included but are not limited to: No explanation of the offerings, no wine list offered (I had to grab Odie to get one), and please don't bother anyone to ask for a recommendation. Generally indicative of the attitude throughout the meal. We have a favorite so not too big a deal. I guess there was no discussion of the offerings because we were only brought three meats. We asked for two others, which were given to us, but usually at this type of restaurant when you turn your chip to green, you have to beat back all the meat that descends on you table. The meat we requested, lamb chop and beef rib tasted like they had been heated and reheated many times. Also, it was 30 deg F outside but the AC was blowing on our table. We asked to have it turned down, but evidently our vent is tied into the vents at the Harvest Table, which has to be kept cold, so tough S for us. I guess we could have changed tables, but by that time it was already close to the breaking point for us and we did not want to move just to get up and leave. The crowning achievement was that I left a note with my cell for David to call me, as he had already left for the day. As I expected, he has not called. Good luck with this restaurant, there are plenty of these out there, I am planning to go elsewhere and would recommend the same to anyone considering EG Steak.
Overcrowding at the beginning due to overbooking with reservations and our waiter was double ear so another person was more helpful. Towards the end our waiter’s load simmer down and then he was able to be kore attentive.
We felt very rushed and every time we turned the "meat card" to green we were bombarded with Gauchos. Our waiter did not take the time to explain the concept to my husband (who had never been to a Brazilian Steakhouse). We were celebrating or anniversary and they did not make any effort to make it an enjoyable experience.
The weekend we visited EG was the 1st weekend after Valentine's Day. The restaurant was extremely crowded.
Everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Service was great.
The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, We will definitely be going back many more times
We have been coming here for years but this past friday we went there for our anniversary like every year and we could tell everything has changed. There were a lot of items missing from the salad bar, the meats took forever to come around, the gauchos cutting the meat cut big chunks of meat and there were a lot of meats that did not come around to us and missed us. Also, the Brazilian lemonade drink was terrible. The meats were super salty and not as tasty as each time we had been there before. Also, even though we had a reservation we waited about 30 minutes because they were busy. What’s the point of the reservation? When our name was finally called the hostess took us to a table that hadn’t been cleaned yet. Overall, horrible experience and we won’t be coming back after this last visit.
The food, especially the meats, is outstanding. The quality of the beef especially brings to mind the finest of Argentine churrascarias.
Best place to dine in Dallas. I take all of the girls I meet on tinder here and it never disappoints.
Waiters past our table for 15 minutes before I had to flag down a waiter to asked to be served Some meat
Excellence food and service! Looking forward to returning@
We go to EG very regularly and made another reservation for Valentine's Day with my wife and I. When we arrive (at 7:00 PM), we were taken to a small back dining room with very few people in it. I asked the hostess if we could sit in the main dining room and was told no. When our waiter arrived I asked the same thing and was again told there was no other tables available in the large dining room. I asked him if the gauchos frequented this small room and he promised me they would. We love the lamb chops and parmesan pork. These two types of meats did not come into our room and we have to ask for them three times. Our waiter then came back to our table to ask US how many drinks we had ordered. He told me I ordered three and my wife ordered two. I had to correct him that I had only had two. Is there a limit? When we ordered dessert, we always order the papaya creme. When he brought us the one to share, it was very watered down and could barely taste the papaya. Fogo De Chao's version is much better. We will go elsewhere from now on.
Very pleasant experience. We had 2 children with us and they enjoyed he way the meats were served. Kid’s drinks were offered and the staff was very thoughtful toward them.
It was great the gauchos were very timely and always bringing the freshest meat cuts. The medium rare selection of red meats was absolutely scrumptious! The signature drink with the sugar cane spirit which I can’t pronounce nor spell was do die for! As always it was a great visit love this steak house!
We had a great dinner. We love Texas de Brazil E.G was pretty on par with them. While it didn’t have as many meat options or salad bar selection it had a huge selection of great choices. The only thing I didn’t like was their take on fried bananas. Alex was great as our our main host. It did have a nicer ambiance and more open seating than the other Brazilian steakhouses we have eaten before. The lamp chop was some of the best lamp I had in a long time.
Meats were great, side dishes/salad bar were just ok
It's a touch expensive for lunch, but the service was excellent and the food was very good. The severs even had meat especially prepared for me.
Yes the food is wonderful but it is the staff that we appreciate most. Always friendly attentive and just amazing. Although the restaurant was full we felt like we had our own private party with the attention we received. I took my pre teen son and they treated him like an adult:)
We’ve eaten here pretty regularly over the past three years or so and have really enjoyed the experience, particular in comparison with other steak houses (including those of the Brazilian type). Now the restaurant seems to be struggling with budget and keeping pace with other eateries. Our last dining experience will likely be our very last, as the food quality has taken a serious down turn. At first, to be fair, we thought maybe this past weekend was a one-off experience, but everything from the presentation of the market table foods on the trays to the quality of almost every item was just honestly poor. Sloppiness was a factor - and even the fried bananas, which we thought couldn’t go wrong, tasted like they had been set aside for quite a while before serving and, well, they had the flavor of what I’d describe as “starch sticks.” I hope they can turn things around. For now, we’ll pay a little more for Fogo and maybe check back with E/G sometime in the future.
This restaurant was absolutely phenomenal! The service, the food, the drinks... everything was perfect!
We had a friend in from out of state. We have always loved EG Steak so we brought her here. I think maybe we just got an unfortunate table seating because the service was not up to the level we’ve had before. We had to request mashed potatoes twice. They finally came half way through dinner. We would see gauchos come out of the back with their meats and turn into our dining area. They would go by the first few tables then return to the kitchen because they had served all the could from their skewers. We never saw any lamb at all at our table. We saw one cut that we really wanted to try but it never came either. There was more than once that all 3 of us were sitting with empty plates, nothing to eat. My wife asked twice for the Parmesan pork. It finally came when we were ordering desert. I guess our table was at the end of the Gaúchos route and we got things that didn’t run out before getting to us. Very disappointing since we bragged about the place and brought in a guest with us. I expect more for $50/plate.
It was my birthday, I was alone as all my family members where out of town or busy. Came her and had lunch, was treated very well and even got a creme Brulé for my day. Lovely to dine alone or with group. Thanks for making my day
Went to have a belated birthday dinner date with my boyfriend, who had never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before. The food was great from the salad bar as well as the meat selection. Both of us enjoyed ourselves and even got a free Bday dessert at the end of dinner! We will return to this restaurant.
I have been to Fogo de Chão and was expecting similar. The food was excellent however the atmosphere was poor, none of the meat runners new what they were holding other than saying beef steak or chicken.
The quality of meat seems to have gone down hill. Very fatty and dry, over cooked. No longer has sides on table, sides are passed out.
We have been here a numbers of times always great!
EG Steaks will be our go to Brazilian Steakhouse. Hands down the food, service, atmosphere, and overall experience was highly enjoyable.
My husband had a awesome dinner celebrating his birthday. The service was fantastic and the service was superb!! Will be going back very soon.
I was very disappointed. I have been to the former Estilo Gaucho several times and always enjoyed the food, so much so that I would take friends and relatives from out of town often. Last night the food was bad. I only ate the meat and every piece was either very salty and/or had big pieces of grizzle, and had to give my napkin with said grizzles to the waiter to dispose of. The star of the meal, though, was the yuca (Spanish pronunciation) rolls, melt in your mouth, delicious. As a matter of fact, I would go by and pick up a dozen everyday if it weren't for the distance to my house.
When the meal was over (had to wait for a while for the bill) we got it. I didn't much look at it but, luckily my friend did. They had charged us both for a whopping Brazilian cafe each ($10.00!) that we had not ordered. Of course the waiter said he would take care of it, and apologized profusely. What disturbed me was his explanation--they had been training servers and, get this, used our credit cards to show them how to do it, and forgot to delete the coffee charge. I think we should be compensated for that breach of service, (hopefully not in another EG voucher...) In these days of identity theft this is tantamount to a police action. Sincerely, Graciela Fuller
Good food. Exceptional service. Expensive, but great for special occasions.
Great Night! me and my wife enjoyed celebrating our anniversary!
The food was delicious and the service was great! It was a wonderful way to celebrate my 20th Wedding Anniversary!
Absolutely the best dining experience I have had in my life! The staff was attentive and the food delicious!! Highly recommend esp for date night or an evening among adults.
We enjoyed the dinner a lot. The only thing that could have been better was the side items, not much variety. The main course was delicious and my girlfriend loved the ambiance. We would totally recommend going here. It was worth it and I will be back.
Great service and food. Best lamb chops ever.
Great food and atmosphere. Love it here.
Love it as always
Our family always has at least one meal at EG when they are in town from New Jersey it is an annual event. This visit was the 3rd year in a row we brought our Daughter, Son-in-Law and grandchildren, we always have a great time. We have also brought our son and his family when they came to visit in October. It is a wonderful place to have a delicious meal and the service is impeccable.
Outstanding service ... and the food was fantastic! In the competitive restaurant scene of the North Dallas suburbs that includes a bunch of churrascarias, EG stands above the others because the food is comprehensively better. It seems fresher and the salad bar is constantly attended to .... and kept perfect!
Excellent food and service. Above average in every sense.
