About Estia Taverna - New Jersey
The stunning restaurant, which is the first of its kind in South Jersey, will transport guests to the Greek Islands with an atmosphere reminiscent of an inviting Mediterranean home, and a menu of authentic specialties, simply prepared, that represent the best of Greek cuisine. The restaurant specializes in whole grilled fish, which are flown in from the Greek islands, the shores of Morocco, Tunisia and Portugal, and procured from independent North American fishermen. We have created a welcoming restaurant designed with the comforts of a typical Greek home. We used materials such as hand-chiseled Jerusalem limestone floors, hand woven rugs, vaulted ceilings, antiqued stucco walls, wood plank floors and exposed wood beams to evoke the traditional atmosphere. A series of dining areas feature rustic farm tables, dark wood chairs with beige cushions and dining nooks with upholstered banquettes. The homelike ambience is accentuated with whitewashed walls.

Estia Taverna - New Jersey Ratings and Reviews
Our second times here and can’t wait for a third! Delicious food, great service and perfect atmosphere feeling as an upscale neighborhood bistro. The complimentary bread and hummus is a lovely start to the meal. This is our second time ordering the tomato soup with poached halibut....and we were all swooning over it. We all loved our meals and have tried the swordfish kabobs, pasta rustico, roasted chicken, moussaka. Just great food, service, and caring attention paid to our dining experience.
We dined at a peak time and therefore the restaurant was full and energetic. Service was outstanding and attentive, and all staff calm and very friendly. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations for both food and wine based on individual interests and tastes. The classic Greek salad exceeded my expectations with the exception of needing a few more olives. Octopus appetizer was among the best grilled octopus we've had, very tender and expertly cooked. Whole fish was well seasoned.
Our waiter was both attentive and discreet, which was nice. The short rib special was nicely prepared, as were the grilled shrimp kabobs. Ordered 1/2 a Greek salad-literally had 2 olives on it! Disappointed that they serve their hummus with sliced rustic bread instead of pita bread. Overall we were satisfied.
The menu was just the right size. It also had enough items on the menu that if you don’t like traditional Greek you can still eat. Reason I mentioned it is to encourage you to bring a family, I have a finicky daughter and even she found something on the menu. The fish was fresh and excellent prepared. The deserts some of the best Greek deserts I have had. Place is a little loud and that is because people feel comfortable. They have a price fixed that is a great value. I highly recommend the place.
My husband and I have dined at Estia on several occasions. The food has always been extremely good. Their seafood, while expensive, is worth it. Happy hour is vibrant and less pricey. Service has always very good. Servers are knowledgeable about the menu. On a recent visit our courses were arriving a little too fast. We told our waiter to "slow it down" he did so pleasantly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Dependably high quality, fresh, tasty Greek inspired cuisine. Nice, but not overly dressy. We enjoyed great value with their fixed price menu for restaurant week. Their a la carte prices tend to be a bit high, but you pay for quality. Recommended for a nice meal, with these comments in mind.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed and embarrassed because I booked my reservation via Open table stating that it would be a "Birthday Celebration". I was never prompted/asked nor acknowledged at the restaurant about our birthday celebration so my guest thought I had forgotten. Therefore, why ask what occasion is being celebrated if it is not going to be acknowledged...The service/ waiter and the food were both good as usual.
We ate very late on Friday and the stayed open for us. The décor and quality are excellent. They switched to a more seafood oriented menu which I like much better and they now have lobster which is great. The restaurant is pricy, particularly if you order drinks, but they really invest in quality. A step up for them.
Just wanted to share dinner with my wife alone for a change !
Was great idea and choice of location
Food as always, excellent and fresh!
Fish tastes like it was just caught and excellent tasteful presentation.
A great spot for friends, family, and business get togethers!
Extremely slow service. Took a while for a server to come to our table. Took an hour to get the main course after the appetizers. They were out of a specialty cocktail on the menu. Fish was fresh, but the preparation was uninspiring and certainly not worth an hour wait and $67.
We had a wonders dinner at Estia celebrating our anniversary. My entree was a lobster and linguini dish (a tiny bit light on lobster for the price) but excellent. My husband had one of the whole fish entrees. The dill and spinach risotto side dish was the most outstanding part for me.
Very nice meal for our anniversary. Only 2 minor things. We each got the pre-fixed menu and we understood that some items cost extra money, but the bill was presented caused us much confusion and a lot of math to figure out. They could do this better. Also, the baklava we had was very tough. This is a traditional Greek dessert and they need to do it better.
