Estia - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Estia did not meet up to its usual standards on this visit. Perhaps this was because it was restaurant week. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy. We were seated near a large party with some rather loud guests. But more disappointing was the food. My sea bass was delicious, but not as hot as it should have been. My guest’s lamb chops were ordered medium well, but came out rather rare. Even after they were returned to the kitchen, they were still fairly red. The baklava offerred for dessert was very good, but the walnut cake was very dry. We’ve had it before and this was not the same. We’ll return, but not during restaurant week.
Met family here for restaurant week, as we love eating here and the price was right. Our favorites are the lamb chops and the grilled fish. Great vibe, good happy hour 1/2 price drinks and apps. Take a table by the window and watch the pedestrians flow by. Located right next to the Academy of Music.
We went for restaurant week lunch. It was a great deal - worked out to be about $25 per person for a table of four. The waitress was great, a lady took our coats at the door and made us feel at home. Had some nice bread and hummus in addition to the set menu.
Went there on the restaurant week as we saw glowing reviews earlier. They didn’t disappoint. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, though a little low on salt to my palette. But nevertheless I liked it. The side of tzatziki were great. My wife’s boiled chicken was nicely done. We went for an additional order of grilled jumbo shrimp, which was really good. The dessert of baklava was one of the best I had, not too sweet, where most goes wrong. Overall a great night out for us.
We had an early dinner before a show at the Academy of Music during Restaurant Week. While it was crowded, the service was excellent. Attentive but you did not feel rushed. We ordered off of the Restaurant Week menu and the octopus appetizer was close to, if not the best octopus I had ever had. We ordered this and the Greek Salad at the suggestion of our waiter and he did not steer us wrong. He also suggested the sea bass and lamb chops for our entrees and both were also delicious. I had not been to Estia for several years but found both the food and service superior to what I had remembered.
Located in the Avenue of the Arts area, Estia serves a very good Pre-Theater menu which is very reasonably priced. Their regular menu is very extensive with something for everyone's palate.
Service is very good. Convenient to the Academy of Music and other theaters.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Estia. Warm and cozy inside, delightful and attentive service, and fantastic food. We enjoyed the theater menu - apps, main course, and dessert were all awesome. The "fish of the day" was excellent! Definitely will go there again.
One of the best restaurants in Philadelphia and certainly the BEST GREEK restaurant. One goes there for the food but the surroundings and service are exceptional. Have taken there many friends FROM Greece and they can’t believe we have such a great dining place with such authentic food here in Philadelphia. They all say “it feels and tastes like home”. I have been going to Estia ever since it opened over a decade ago and I cannot believe it has never been listed as one of the top Philadelphia restaurants.
