Such an amazing, unique experience in Milwaukee! The food was fantastic, and presented in numerous different courses that keep you excited for what comes next. The chefs introduce you to new flavors and combinations that broaden your palate. Totally worth the price. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun experience with delicious food!
The food was amazing! Very inventive and a lot of it, definitely didn’t leave hungry. I guess only downside is that it is very pricey and the liquor flight is too. Definitely a once in a very long time experience
`This was a very nice evening. Every aspect of the meal was well thought out, well presented and fun. The pre-meal cocktails were creative and flavorful. Each of the courses were introduced with passion and the wine pairings complimented each dish. The progressions for each plate were nicely developed. Service was fun and engaging. Loved the communal table idea and met some very nice people. A great value in fine dining.
Outstanding! A definite culinary experience. Every dish we had was excellent. Be open to trying new things!
When asked what was your favorite at EsterEv? All of it! What an amazing experience tasting food and wine with a bunch of lovable foodie strangers! Dan and Dan's food is amazing!
EsterEv has a fantastic tasting menu! Great experience!
In my humble opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee. It is a unique dining experience. I enjoyed the variety of flavors. Every bite was amazing.
great food; be sure to log your dietary restrictions with the restaurant to ensure you have a superior dining experience.
Food is awesome!!! Great experience!! Would recommend
The restaurant, service and food were absolutely amazing!
Our meal was spectacularly delicious and definitely the best we have had in Milwaukee other than Sanford however we were extremely disappointed by how incredibly noisy DanDan is and the loud music that actually made it difficult for us to have conversation. Our server never introduced herself, something that is expected at such a special restaurant. We loved hearing from the chef and sommelier at each course and truly appreciated the stories about the food, family, tradition. That was wonderful. We were surprised that the chef uses the F-word with customers. Maybe we are not hip since the four of us were over 50 but that word is offensive to some and it just felt like its use and overall being constantly referred to as "you guys" over and over was out of step with the fabulous quality of the food. Lastly, we would have appreciated a copy of the menu at the beginning of the meal so we could refer to it along the way. I think EsterEv needs its own location so the atmosphere is more in line with the incredible food. it was an amazing meal but not a relaxing experience.
Very interesting and varied selections. Highlights were dessert, steak tartar and wagyu (sp?) beef steak but all the courses were great. I've had my last pairing of wine at a tasting menu. Not just at EsterEv but in general, sommeliers are always challenging you to try something out of your wheelhouse. I know that I do not like dessert wines or sweet German wines, which were abundantly represented, so bad on me for not asking enough questions before purchasing the wine pairing.
Exquisite one-of-a-kind dining experience! We informed the chefs at the last minute that we had 2 vegetarians with us. They accommodated and modified the menu for those specific diners in a really thoughtful and delicious way. The menu was creative and every course was delicious! The wine pairings were excellent as well. Very talented group of chefs and serving staff!
Intimate experience. Wonderful food. One of the best dining experiences in Milwaukee and unique for the city in a number of ways.
Dan and the team created such a fun experience and did such a great job with each unique course.
Terrific experience, five stars given for all aspects!!
This was our 4th time dining at EsterEv and hands down our favorite!! Appreciated the innovative menu, new take on classics such as beef tartare. Thank you!!
Excellent concept, also executed perfectly. Highly recommend
Amazing food with a story behind each course.
The entire experience was amazing! The food was fantastic as was the service. We did split the beverage pairing as well which we thoroughly enjoyed. The only complaint or suggestion I have would be the desert courses. The first two desert courses were both a mousse type dessert. So being someone who does not like that type of dessert I was disappointed that I missed two courses of the meal and had to share them with my husband. We will definitely be back both at Dan Dan and EsterEv.I cannot stop thinking about the caviar tater tot and the bread and hummus. They were to die for!
The concept of the combined tables was great, but our group had a group of 4 in our 10, which made it hard to mesh as a total table. In that case it might have been preferred to somehow be able to have more private seating. We kept trying to join the group, but it was not happening and the couple we'd be most likely to chat to was furthest from us.
The food, wine, and descriptions by staff were outstanding.
An incredible and unique experience. You get to learn the meaning behind each dish and its inspiration. The attention to detail is unmatched and we cannot wait to come back!
One of the very best restaurants in Milwaukee.
The two Dans take a personal interest in it.
Room with two tables that each hold 8. Birthday boy occupied one whole table which got really loud through the evening. The idea was to meet new people but reality was you could only talk to your partner or neighbor next to you. Food was creative, interesting and more than enough. Enjoyed the wine pairings and were reasonably priced
A fun multi course meal at a large table for 10 people. Interesting presentation with a variety of colors, textures and flavors in the back room of Dan Dan.Favorites included the steak tartare tart, peas with king crab, and wagyu. Least favorite were the hummus and the halibut wrapped in collards.Wine pairing complemented the courses well.Took about 2 and a half hours. Not cheap, but not outrageous either.
This was our third time at EsterEv, but our first time going with friends. We had a wonderful time -- the food and wine were fantastic and the atmosphere was very social and fun! We had a very memorable evening! Thanks, Dan, Dan, and Kate!
Unique small bites that are delicious. Wine pairing is a must.
Had a special out of town family guest and she said it was one of the top meals of her lifetime. So worth the splurge.
Our second time at EsterEv did not disappoint. Every course was outstanding, unique and delicious. The wine pairings were spot on. My favorite dish was the halibut. The fish was perfectly cooked, and just melted in your mouth. EsterEv is my favorite restaurant in town for a special occasion.
Great experience. Dan and Dan along with the rest of the chefs and pairing staff were excellent.
Dan and Dan and their crew are remarkable!!! I have a husband that is somewhat of a picky eater....he cleaned every plate! The food was outstanding. Wine parings were spot on! It was really a great experience! We would do it again in a minute! I was unsure about dining with random people but it was really fun! Everyone had their own take on the new flavors and foods!
Being a meat and potatoes guy, dining at EsterEv was a stretch meal for me. My wife (she is much more daring when it comes to food) and I enjoyed all 10 courses. My wife chose the wine parings while I chose a craft cocktail- all were very tasty. We came feeling a little unsure about the entire experience, but left feeling very fortunate to have had the experience. Food and service were both exceptional.
I didn’t know what to expect. The food was amazing. I liked not knowing the courses until they came out. The wine pairing was perfect. I recommend getting it because it matched really well with the courses. I can’t pick a favorite course because each was so good. We will definitely go there again.
What a great experience! You get to meet new friends while eating amazing food. Only time in my life would i say too many desserts since I was so full
This was my first time doing a chefs tasting menu and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everything was so well thought out and presented. The food was seasonal and everything was presented on plates and bowls made by Kate ( one of the chef’s wife). They used some luxurious ingredients and you could taste the passion and creativity in each dish. The communal seating added to the whole dining experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves food.
Delicious food and interesting experience. Loved the descriptions and stories behind the food, enjoyed eating with strangers. Felt the pause between courses to be a bit long.
The food was uniformly great. We have two suggestions for improving the experience. First, we appreciated the menu being distributed at the end of the meal but it would have been much more useful if we had it in front of us during the meal. Dan’s explanations of each dish were okay but it was a bit too much to absorb during the quick description of each dish. Most of the other restaurants where we have had tasting menus do this. We know that having a menu is not the same ambiance as grandma’s table that EsterEv is trying to duplicate, but the total experience would be better with the menus in hand during the meal. Second, it’s a noisy room and we had difficulty understanding the sommelier explaining the wine pairings. May we suggest that she SLOW DOWN and speak up a bit?
