The food is delicious. I added meat to the kale salad for a great meal and my husband raved about the red fish. Love the atmosphere. It’s not traditional Jackson.
Food was great
Waiter was awful
Did not refill water nor wine
Took forever to bring bottle of wine
Did not offer dessert. Had to ask
We made a short notice reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. We were shown to the bar and told they were getting our table ready. It was an hour later before we were shown to a table in a nearly empty restaurant. Our “neighbors” at the bar, who had a reservation time 45 minutes after ours, were shown to a table before us and after a 5 minute wait. While the food was very good, the overall service was pretty lousy. We loved the chef’s former restaurant and this was the reason we wanted his new one. The food was quite good, though our enjoyment was tempered by the whole experience. The ambiance was very much that of a hotel bar and restaurant, high traffic in the bar and open to the hotel lobby. Doubtful that it gets a second chance from us.
Very Slow service, wines on wine list not available, no sommelier, poorly staffed and way too slow getting meals served. I was extremely disappointed considering the venue and location. They refer to themselves as a "Wine Bar". Perhaps they serve whines.
Horrible horrible horrible. Stupid service, useless wait staff. Have no idea how to serve.
The bar is the first thing you see when you walk in to Estelle. Therefore one would think the focus of management would be to make sure the bar area is flawless. Not the case this evening. Old glasses, used plates, and utensils littered the bar and the work area behind the bar. The manager was wandering around clueless. Obviously, there is a major leadership vacuum here. We had a drink at the bar and once the rest of our party arrived we were seated. Christy was our server. She did well. We ordered apps, salads and entrees. The entrees came out prior to the salads via the Manager and another person. We had a difficult time convincing him they weren’t ours. One entree (redfish) matched what one of us ordered so he left it. A minute or so later out salads arrived. Once the entrees arrived we received a second redfish entree. The food was great. All dishes cooked as ordered. The menu has enough variety for most including vegetarian alternatives. The decision makers at Estelle need to look at the details. Many are lacking here.
The food was the single redeeming quality. We had heard good things, but from the moment we walked in the door, it was simply a train wreck.
We arrived on the dot for reservations at 8:45. We stood at the hostess stand, hostessless for about five minutes, before being told our table was not ready. Two other parties had to be seated before us. We finally sat at 9:00, received menus at 9:15, and finally bread at 9:30. Drinks were another story altogether. We could not get a drink menu until the bread came for no apparent reason. We ordered our drinks twice, because the step-in waiter (because our waitress was busy) could not remember them. And, then, even still, our waitress brought one of us the wrong drink when they finally arrived at 10:00. We ordered food at 9:45; it arrived at 10:40. Two other larger parties, who sat down when we received bread received their food about 15 minutes before we did. So, clearly other people had a much better experience at this restaurant. But, I cannot say the same.
The waitress did ask us, as she handed us our bills, if there was 'something she could do for us' since we had waited so long. I found this to be a rather odd request of a customer, as if we were to decide what we deserved from their appalling service. After collectively laying out for her the issues we had had with the service throughout the evening, she said she could comp all our alcohol. This seemed rather fair, so we agreed. After paying, she collected our signed receipts before we left the table, another strike in my book for a nice restaurant.
As we left, we stopped in the restroom. This was also a mistake. There was toilet paper on the floor in both stalls, not to mention some substance covering the floor in one stall. I decided to not even chance walking in it. And, the sink had used paper towels that, for some reason, had not found their way to the trash bin. All in all, the food was the one redeeming quality, but it did not save this experience.
We came for New Years Eve and had the seven course wine dinner. It was so very delicious! I highly recommend this place!
I had an exceptional experience. My fiance' and I had were there to celebrate New Year's. The entire wait staff was excellent. We had the small and large plate offerings. The duck sausage and the steak frites were delicious.
Food was not good, service not good. Love the atmosphere. Just need to work on quality of food and service.
Super friendly and attentive service with amazing food
Stopped by for dessert and an after dinner drink
It was such a disappointing experience. We had 12:30 brunch reservations and sat for 25 minutes until someone spoke to us, had to beg for water. Spoke to the manager when he passed us asking if someone could take our order. He sent the waitress who then said, "thanks so much for being patient let me make one more water round and I'll come right back." She never came back and we left and went to another restaurant. I have been before with great service and good food, but this experience makes me hesitant to recommend it to anyone or make a return visit.
Service was friendly, but very slow - despite the restaurant not being busy at all. Drinks in particular were inexplicably slow. Food items were hit or miss. The cauliflower appetizer recommended by the server wasn't very good, but the lobster and fish entrée was a huge hit. My own lobster had an 'off', fishy taste, which was a disappointment. Others in our party said theirs was great. On the bright side, the ambiance was really nice, we had plenty of room, and the food prices are a good value. Complimentary valet parking is provided but of course tipping is appreciated, so you still need cash for that. The valet service is slow when a group is leaving at the same time, as was the case with us.
They were in the weeds when we arrived. Not a problem for us since we weren’t in a rush. Steak from steak and eggs was fatty and low quality. Nice brunch beverages. S’mores dessert was good. Would come back b
Nice round table for a bookclub. We could visit and all hear each other. The food and cocktails were delicious. Very attentive servers. We would recommend the lobster roll and the redfish. We will come back.
Chef Ken made this experience amazing for the second time. He came to our table, made amazing suggestions and charmed our guests. We felt like stars. The food was amazing and we are looking forward to returning. I have even dined there alone and felt like I did not want to leave such a beautiful spirited environment. My hats off to this staff. We shall return.
The red fish is to die for ! The desserts were amazing! the duck sausage would bring sight to the blind!
The hostess greeted us immediately upon arrival and seated my guest and I. Our server, LaQuandra, followed shortly after with the most welcoming smile. She was very attentive and made sure we enjoyed the evening. The food was delicious to say the least!!
Servers are good but not very attentive and service is always slow. Maybe they are under or incorrectly staffed.
Everything was FANTASTIC ESPECIALLY the MOD ms Jamie she was very nice and the staff were so helpful with my birthday dinner and the food was amazing i loved the lobster deviled eggs THE RESTAURANT WAS BEAUTIFUL ANd quiet nice view of downtown also FREE VALET ..... i have included a picture of my dinner setup contact vision couture events 601-500-2011
Estelle is a hotel restaurant and doesn't necessarily have the best atmosphere, but the food is absolutely delicious! We had 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. Everything was great. I will definitely go back.
The restaurant is beautiful! Very upscale with food for a great price! Definitely would visit again and I recommend this place to everyone looking for something new!
The ambience was nice and the service was good. The kale salad would have been excellent had it not been overly saturated with salad dressing. My dining partner agreed. We were both only able to eat a few bites because of this. I would order the salad again but ask for dressing in the side. The filet was a quality cut and was cooked perfectly but it unfortunately lacked flavor. Perhaps with this being a new restaurant, the grill is not yet “seasoned” or perhaps something as simple as salt and pepper could be added. I would dine at the restaurant again if I were in the area, but would drive across town again to eat there.
This has to be the most frustrating new restaurant in Jackson. We avoided it when it first opened as the reviews of the service were sketchy. We finally tried it and absolutely loved it...the food was creative and well presented and the service was very good. We tried it again with the same excellent results. Went back this week and it was a disaster. The greeter had not even opened the door from the valet area (he forgot) when we arrived. The staff was young, only mildly enthusiastic and totally lacking in skills. The cocktails took forever to arrive and then were served in martini glasses they were only half full, as if they made enough for two dirty martinis and then realized they had 3 ordered and just meted it out. One of us ordered the chicken and were told it would take extra time. We said fine, but don't do the other two entrees and deliver them out of sync or put them up on the heating table. We could see into the kitchen from our table and watched the other two entrees sit for 15 minutes on the heating rack. It left the redfish overcooked. The chicken was incredibly good. The goat cheese tart appetizer was a nightmare. The base appeared to be unseasoned chopped newspaper and the cheese was over cooked and dried out on top, again with no apparent seasoning. We mentioned this to the manager and he said they had a lot of complaints about it...DUH! While he was talking to us another server hovered over his shoulder interrupting our discussion. When she finally said something he just left without further comment. AAARRGGHHH! We really want to like this place and make it a regular stop but the incompetent service this visit and the poor quality of some of the dishes makes that unikely
The service was great, the food was wonderful, and the portions were enormous! Even the "small plates" were not small.
We will be back. Lunch was nice, can't wait to try the wine bar.
Just getting started...reasonable prices, nice ambiance. Bar tending needs some work, but I was informed by the manager that they have a mixologist starting Monday...it will be just wahqt they need!
This is a great addition to downtown Jackson dining. The menu was creative, the space very attractive with a modern sensibility and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was very affordably priced. It looked like a great place for after-work drinks, too. My co-workers and I are looking forward to returning soon.
