So amazing 😘😍😍
We loved bottomless brunch at this spot. The service was phenominal and our drinks were never empty. The Benedict is great, too!!
food was pretty poor, and cocktails were terrible. bar staff looked miserable, and so did the attempts at cocktails. saturday night was busy, but the calamari tasted fishy and of dirty frier oil, and was a little soggy. Lobster in lobster mac was also fishy (not a good sign). Bread for veggie burger was like a little cesars pizza crust - ie tasted of nothing bread. The salad on veggie burger looked like it came from a salad graveyard and was soggy. Food was yelled to our table and unceremoniously shoved in front of us by an angry kitchen troll. Server was nice and tried to delight us, but he didn't have much to play with... So sadly they lost me as a customer.... Good vibe
Sat us right away.
Food took ages to come out. One hour for aps.
1:45 hours for main course
Operationally this place is a mess despite the waitress was nice and the food was good.
They did comp us drinks.
Creative Food at a great price. The lamb chops were especially good. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitley be back.
Overall it was chaotic to say the least. The hostesses were not easily identifiable in the sea of people waiting, so it seemed like everyone was confused about who to talk to and how to check in for their reservations. Waiting was ver chaotic. We were constantly being pushed around and asked to move out of the way. I don't think there is enough physical space to support the amount of people who come here during brunch. I understand that Sunday brunch is probably a very busy time, and this is a popular restaurant for brunch, but we were seated almost an hour after our reservation as well. We were offered drink tickets to help pass the time, but there were so many people we couldn't even get to the bar until right before we were seated (and then it was too late). On a positive note, the staff was very apologetic and attentive after we were seated, which helped things, aside from the food being good. They are just lucky that we stayed to be seated because several members of my party were ready to leave beforehand. It was also incredibly loud so very hard to hear everyone talking as we were seated.
Mimosas were horrible. It was Tropicana with a splash of twist of champagne. We were asked to leave our seats after an hr to make room for a party when we had a reservation. Then had to wait 20 min at the bar for a horrible last mimosa. Will not be returning very disappointed
My overall experience was great! However, I did not appreciate the hostess making my party wait 20-30 mins for a table meanwhile I had made my reservations a week in advance. We ended up sitting at the bar and getting not so great service.
Went here for brunch with friends. High energy, great drinks, a great choice of menu & close to the subway. I will definitely be coming back soon!
Came here on a gilt city deal that was well worth it. The food was great, the drinks were really strong, and the service was excellent. Our sever Kaley was funny, down to earth, and attentive.
Essex has a great bottomless brunch deal but that's about all they're good for. $35 for bottomless mimosas, screwdrivers and bloody mary's including an entree. The food was very subpar and there wasn't really a vibe in the restaurant. The servers were good with making sure your glass was always full but if you're looking for a fun environment with good food, this isn't the place.
Great Brunch Spot. Amazing food with quick, friendly service at a great price. Also loved the warehouse vibe.
Needed a last minute reservation for 9. They were so accommodating. Our server was absolutely lovely and the food was delicious! The lobster Mac and cheese was heavenly!
I had high hopes but was underwhelmed with everything. Service was "ok". Our waiter didn't seem to care that someone at our table had a significant food allergy. Two of the pork chops ordered were over cooked. Best part of what we ordered was at the burger and fries...everything else was sub par.
Steak was excellent, Gnocchi was over cooked, drinks were amazing. Would give them a second try.
Bartender was friendly, service was adequate,But the food was just okay.
Have been here a few times and quite frankly the service gets worst each time. When they brought us upstairs to seat us, our waitress was laid out on the benched seating. This was peculiar, but perhaps they didn’t expect people to be coming in for brunch on a rainy Sunday. Either way, not the best way to be introduced to your waitress—who ended up not being very friendly, even post nap. The food was fine, I had the Mexican matzo brei which was nothing to write home about. In the past the shrimp and grits have been tasty, though I did not order it this time. Overall Essex is best for bottomless brunch, but not much else.
Great for brunch!
The cocktail, soup and dessert were great but the entree tasted pretty generic and didn’t seem like quality seafood.
Oysters and tuna poke weren’t fresh! Scallops in risotto were raw incise. Place was way too hot and dark. Service was good tho. In general i wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend this place.
Essex has always been one of my favorites, I have been coming here for years!
I really Love Eesex..I am disappointed that the Chilean Sea Bass dish will not be on the regular menu. That dish is amazing! Everything we have had there is awesome!
We enjoyed our girls night here. We ordered from the restaurant week menu for dinner. My friend and I were not impressed with the scallops- very tough. The waiter did switch out our dishes which we appreciated. The lamb dish was very good. Appetizer of buratta was great and dessert was ok - nothing too special.
Went here fir restaurant week. Food ok. Drinks very sour lemony, not great. Waiter messed up our order multiple times. Will not come back.
We were there for restaurant week and the menu had many offerings with great variety, much larger than most restaurant week menus.
However, the service and ambiance was cold and indifferent and it was so dark I needed to use my flashlight to see my food. I would not go back.
I went to Essex for brunch and the food was awesome! The place is super loud and felt like a club at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Won't be everyone's cup of tea -- but we had great food and good service!
Went for brucnh with my husband. Made a reservation night before and was seated immediately! Even after calling to say we would be a few minutes late, seated right away. Bottomless brunch is amazing. Will be back again :)
Loved everything except the pitcher on sangria was $45 too much money had no idea- 2 pitchers later $90.00
Loud, more bar than restaurant, mediocre food at best...
Went here for restaurant week. Overall the food was excellent. Had the Ahi tuna tatar to start. Fish was fresh and had avocado in it that gave it the creamy feel. For entree, had the lamb chops which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Some else had the short rib over polenta appetizer and new york strip steak. Once again the food was very tasty and seasoned well.
Seating was cramped. We sat in a booth for 5 people and it was very tight with little leg room. Also the next table was right next to us and left no room to walk between. Also the environment was noisy with music playing loudly. We could barely hold a conversation. The environment felt more like a bar scene then a restaurant.
If you do not mind the noise and cramped space, I would recommend going
Came for Restaurant Week. I chose this place because their RW had several options for each course, while most establishments limit it to three. I had the short rib for my appetizer, NY strip steak for my entree, and banana cake for dessert. Each course was delicious! I dined on a Thursday, and Happy Hour was in effect till midnight, which meant half off wine. The service was great and the atmosphere was trendy. The restaurant has dim lighting and music playing, but not so loud that you can’t hear yourself talk. I would definitely return for their regular/full menu.
We went for Restaurant Week with a friend for the dinner menu. The room is very nice with high ceilings and dim lights, ideal for a date! I highly recommend the risotto with scallops that is delicious. A bit disappointed with the desserts which do not range to the same level of cuisine than the entrees.
This was my 3rd time having brunch at Essex and it never disappoints! Brought some friends visiting the city and they loved the lively vibe and the very generous bottomless deal! Unfortunately our table was not ready when we arrived and we have to wait 30 minutes at the bar, but our server was great and gave us free drinks tokens while we waited. My friends are pretty picky eaters but were really happy with the vegan options whilst I chowed down on the burger which was great!! Will be back again soon :)
Waited for food 2 hours! Entire 3 course dinner took 3.5 hours. Not normal
Phenomenal meal and experience!
It was a great date night with amazing delicious food, waitress was super polite!
Interesting location with somewhat noisy street level bar and restaurant with quieter upper floor dining area overlooking lively street and Essex market. Varied menu, food well prepared and excellent service.
Essex was very good. The service was great and the food was sooooo amazing. We are for sure going back !
