Celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday. Our waitress was amazing!! , atmosphere was lovely food was yummy!! Great spot for brunch
Came here for my partner’s 55th birthday with the kids (and by kids I am talking 25 and 20). The appetizers were very good, we had the potato pancake with the goat cheese, chicken lollipops and the blue point oysters. The cocktails were good as well. I love gin and St Germann so the Pickeled Saint was up my alley. The entrees left a little to be desired. The scallops were too salty though the risotto as on point. The salmon was a little undercooked so the middle was inedible. The veal meatballs and rigatoni was delicious as was the pork chop dish. The flourless chocolate cake was a nice ending to the dinner...though the fruit added to the desert should be reconsidered since it looked part canned and part fresh. Overall the experience was great. I’ve also had brunch here in the past and the brunch is amazing. Definitely will visit again.
BRUNCH-In general a very trendy spot that is perfect for a group of friends. It has a great brunch with bottomless drinks for a reasonable price.
Great vegan options
Food was delicious. Seating is very tight but we made it work. Definitely will be coming back.
Our food took an hour to get to the table...we arrived at 7:30 and by 9 PM we were still waiting for our entrees. When we asked to speak to the manager, the way he responded was condescending and extremely rude. He basically told us to suck it up and that an hour wait time for entrees is normal. His attitude was the worst I've ever experienced and we were all taken aback! Sadly, we were celebrating my friends birthday and her dinner was ruined. I feel sorry for the waitstaff who have to deal with this man, nobody should ever have to.
It was a little overwhelming when we first got there because it was so loud and crowded, and they wouldn’t seat anyone until the whole party was there, which meant a lot of people were crowded in the front area (you could barely move). But once our party of 9 was seated the service was great - our waitress was super attentive and was constantly refilling both our mimosas and waters - and the food was tasty too. Since we came at 3pm they let us hang out and drink at the table for 3 hours, which was amazing.
Friendly service, comfortable setting, excellent food, especially the steak and eggs for brunch.
I hosted my friend’s birthday party here for a party of 11 and could not have chosen a better place! We chose the prefixed menu ($65 a head) and all got an appetizer, entree, & TWO HOUR OPEN BAR. I’m talking pitchers of vodka soda, pitchers of Moscow mules, anything you could want! The best bang for your buck and awesome service for such a large party.
I recently had the opportunity to eat here. I had such a great time. The food was amazing and the drinks were great. I’d definitely would come back.
This is a brunch party! Be prepared for mimosas and loud, fun music!
Nice server, they ran out of the burger which was a bummer! But they kept the mimosas coming!!
We were there on a Sunday night recently. The noise volume was out of control at first and we almost thought about leaving...but our server Kayley was wonderful and we stayed. The noise died down after several large parties left. The service was great and the best part of our time at this restaurant. I really expected a better experience but was disappointed. The food was fine but it was so dark where we were seated that you could barely make out what you were eating and that really altered the eating for me. Kayley as I said was the saving grace. My sons liked it fine but I would not go back or recommend. I think there are better options.
Overall had a great experience. We went for my 30th birthday and partook in the bottomless brunch. Nobody EVER had an empty glass. Our reservation was for 20 people and it was tight with 15 people, so everyone was very close friends by the afternoon.
Waitress never let my mimosa glass get empty... that’s real love
The food was horrible- burnt and not tasteful at all. The service was also terrible- so cold and u friendly. I have not been to a restaurant this terrible in a long time. Don’t go
Great food menu, cocktails and wine list but far too loud for a romantic date. Great atmosphere for groups I imagine. All in all, glad we went.
Great happy hour!, amazing restaurant week menu and service ! Definately a place to try out!! Very friendly stuff as well!!
The waiter actually cut our amount of time for brunch. We were seated at 2:22 and drinks were stopped at 3pm. We all felt completely rushed as he never informed us how long the mimosa time was (an hour and a half), and when I brought it up to him he had no proper explanation. Usually I really enjoy Essex, but the server was extremely disappointing.
My friend and I were very excited to go to Essex because we heard good things about the food. Upon my arrival the hostess notified me that if we did not have a reservation the only place that we could sit was at the bar and that it was a first come first serve. I was able to find an open table and made the reservation. We were seated fairly quickly after checking in with the host. The food was good, both my friend and I ordered the angus prime steak and eggs, which was good it came with home fries but they were a little brunt. When our brunch time was almost up and man came up to us and give us a ticket each that we could redeem at the bar. The man could across from us and after both of us signed our credit receipts the man came back to us and told us that he needed the table. This ruined my entire experience in this restaurant. It's obvious that they care more about the transaction and getting people in and out then the experience of their customers. My friend was not finished with her drink and had to take it downstair so she could finish it. I have never been kidded out of a table during brunch, he didn't even wait a minute after we had signed those receipts to come tell us we needed to leave the table. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend unless they want to get kid out right after.
It was a good spot to meet friends in LES. Nice atmosphere, and the bartenders were great. Food was average, and definitely edible. Brunch is the go-to here!
Hazel was absolutely amazing! Restaurant week was a huge success. Lamb was to die for!
We were completely rushed out and a waitress even told us they needed our table when there was multiple free tables. We couldn’t even enjoy our meal because the waitress kept coming to our table to get us out. I will never be back.
Overall I’d say it was good. I would possibly go back. My food was over cooked but
The service was not good - waiter had an attitude and slow. The place was not well lit and we could barely see our food or even the table itself. Informed the waiter and he agreed it was also too dark and said he was going to do something about it - but never did!
Service is abysmal
We went there for the restaurant week. The service was prompt. Awesome half priced Happy Hour 🍸. We ordered Oysters, Tuna Poke for starters. Both of which was wonderful. For main course we ordered Lamb Chops and Lobster Ravioli 🦞. Very well prepared. The only disappointment was that they were out of desserts (Choco Mousse, Banana Pudding) as mentioned on the menu. We went for substitute options of peanut butter and coconut pie. Not too happy about that 😕
all well done. i enjoyed their restaurant weeks menu. very generous. beer was good too.
The waiter was not sure about gluten free options and would say things "I think." Either designate items on your menu as gluten free or/and train servers to better know the ingredients. As a celiac "I think" is not good enough.
Good experience. Food was on point!
Food was decent but the service was
Excellent location for a brunch with friends, whether it’s a small group or a large gathering. Bottomless mimosas for 40 bucks with an entree, doesn’t get better than that here, in NYC
Delicious food! Came here for restaurant week specials. Each course was just the right amount to keep me from over eating LOL..
I came for restaurant week; they nicely greeted us upon entering and the waiter was very attentive. However, once we mentioned we would like a restaurant week menu our waiter gave us a face of discontent. I ordered the steak medium well and it was disgusting. My boyfriend ordered the same meal but medium and he definitely enjoyed his steak. It could be the restaurant’s steak is best medium. Nonetheless, it was an ok dinner- I definitely won’t be back here for restaurant week!
Too crowded, was very hard to find service at times
I ordered the avocado toast and it was literally guacamole toast. Everything had A LOT of onions in it. We had a great time. Our servers were incredible and enjoyed the vibe of the place.
I took my boyfriend here for a date. It was his first experience and he loved it!
Essex was wonderful.Ambiance was excellent as well as service
Definitely a great place
This place is banging! It was my favourite in New York City in my recent visit! Food was amazing! Bar and people were so cool! Loved it!
I lobe Essex. Great spot for brunch.
