Everything was fantastic! Great fresh oysters, awesome drinks, and great steak and gnocchi. Would totally try it out for brunch.
My server Viosa B was impressive.
She was very attentive and had a very cool personality.
I work in the food industry and there are key elements that I look for such as availability, attentive and personality. My server was charismatic. Viosa’s personality was very warm and she smiled a lot even tho she was wearing a mask I could still see she was smiling.
Overall the food was really delicious. We had brunch and the bottomless mimosas were strong but also really good.
The French toast is really good and cheese grits with shrimp
I was there when it was outside dining - the set up on the street is very nice and there was distance from other tables which was great. I would totally go back.
The service was very slow and meals came out very far apart. Several were done with dinner before others received their food.
Great brunch as always!Excellent food and the service was prompt, despite the heat , amazing atmosphere on the cabanas ! Welcome back Essex
Excellent service, great atmosphere and very mindful of the current COVID-19 restrictions.
A great brunch spot with good food and bottomless mimosas filled to the brimThe outside seating is really nice. Umbrellas cover the tables from the sun and keep you cool. My waitress was very attentive.
Great customer service and attention to detail. Very friendly staff.
The food was not very good and we were disappointed in the night overall. Also the drink was very sweet, not much tequila was in the drink.
Brunch at Essex was great! It was very hot out but the food, waiter, hostess and environment was nice. I'm glad that they remained serving Unlimited brunch because a lot of restaurants stopped offering them. I also appreciate the fact there are several vegan options on the menu!
It was a great brunch
I LOVE ESSEX. Literally love them. The staff is amazing, the food is great.
Overall great experience, food was good, priced very reasonably for a place in NYC. The mimosas alone were 9 bucks and the entrees were 22.50. The bottomless drinks and entree ran me 53 (tip included) and had 7 drinks. So I’d say we got our money’s worth and the waitress was always ready to give us another round. Would recommend coming to this location. I will be back.
The food was extremely salty.
The service was fabulous. They provided complimentary desserts that were unexpected. Really nice gesture!
My first experience at a restaurant since March, and I could not have been happier. The food and service were excellent. The location was convenient. And the weather made the out-of-doors dining perfectly acceptable.
Please get the NY Strip Steak MR, please get the Atlantic Salmon! That’s all can say and the dessert...Please just go and enjoy !
It was amazing I will be back soon
The food was great, drinks were great, but getting there was a struggle. The host stand is not obvious, I had to bother the bar to find out where to wait. The food took a while to arrive. We didn’t get the full hour and a half because of this.
Not sure how the staff plans to handle this in the new location, but it’s was so so so loud. Downstairs was screaming “chug chug chug” to the point where, being on the almost opposite side of the space, I could not hear myself speak.
I really love this place, but the sound needs to come down for me to bring people back.
Great food and excellent service. Couldn’t ask for more.
I LOVED my experience at Essex, the service was awesome the food was awesome, would suggest any time
The service was awful. This is my second time coming to Essex, and both times I was disappointed by the terrible service. The wait was so long to be served. Food was good for the most part.
Our waitress was great, understanding and just beyond attentive. My eggs were a little on the salty end but over brunch at Essex was great, loud but great.
They’re not very accommodating. Some tables are too close together.
Our reservation for was Sunday brunch at noon, we arrived on time and were promptly seated. We chose the brunch option with unlimited mimosas. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure that our drinks were refilled and whether we were happy with our dishes. We each had three different menu choices and all were very good and were served promptly. The bread basket was very good and wasn't really necessary as each of our dishes came with a bread option, the bread was delicious. We would recommend the shrimp with the cheese grits and the pulled BBQ chicken. We did have one incident that could have been handled better. One of the folks in our party slipped and fell on the slippery floor, fortunately they were not seriously hurt. The waiter informed the manager, who did not want to file an accident report (which is required in NYC) and told us we took file a police report if we wanted to, but there was nothing she could do. She left us standing by the bar ans walked again, while the waitstaff had to apologize and made sure the floor was cleaned up.
The noise level was extremely high, as this is not a place to go if you want to have a quiet conversation.
It was the best boozy brunch I have had in the city so far.
Evelyn was the absolute BEST waitress! She made our experience so much fun! We had a 12:30 reservation and didn't get seated until 1 so they gave also gave us a free round of drinks. We would definitely come back.
We had a very large (20+) and staff was very accommodating.
The music was too loud to converse but the food was amazing as always.
Very loud and very slow service but the food was delicious.
Excellent late night dining. Have been here a few times and this was my first time dining at the bar. Spot on service, great crowd and delicious small plates. Love the short rib sliders.
Poor service, was chaotic and server didn’t care to have a conversation or even show enthusiasm
The new spot is a gem! They did add the flatbread on the menu , which was delicious! The watermelon Martinis were very refreshing and the traditional old fashion superb! Great choices on the desserts. We will see u Essex in a month when we come back to NY.
I went there for a late brunch, showed up on time, and received a message from Open Table asking if I was there. If that’s not an indicator of the service and quality of the place, I don’t know what else you need to know to understand how bad it was.
Too loud to talk to one another, the food took a long time to come out, and the french fries were cold.
The kitchen took over an hour to give us our appetizers, letting us know that 3 items we requested were no longer available (burratta, calamari) long after we already ordered them. Disappointing, then another hour waiting for our entrees. The mussels had a weird smell/taste and the Brussel Sprouts were only in shavings/the skin of them. The steak was rare after ordering Medium Well. The waiter tried to compensate but overall wasn’t worth the money or the travel over there. Would not recommend. Really let me down for a Valentine’s Day dinner. Will not return.
I went to Essex on Valentine’s Day with two of my friends. The restaurant received great reviews so figured we’d try it out. We first asked for three espresso martinis. The waitress took our order and disappeared for fifteen minutes. When she came back, she said that the restaurant recently opened and the bartender never made an espresso martini before. We tasted our drinks and realized it was missing Baileys so she politely took our drinks back. She came back another ten minutes later saying that the order of Baileys never came in and offered to make us other drinks. She recommended a chocolate martini but after my friend decided to give that a shot, the waitress came back saying they couldn’t make those either because there was no Baileys. We ordered cosmos instead. My friend and I ordered steak that was suppose to come with creamed spinach. Instead, it came with a pepper. When we spoke to the waitress about this, she apologized and said they changed the menu last minute and she forgot to tell us. We got the check and it ended up being $150 for three people (2 rounds of drinks). It took us over an hour to get our first round of drinks and nothing was refunded. Although our waitress was nice and friendly, we were disappointed that nothing was done for us.
Loved the lamb chops we are from Australia and have missed them while on holiday.
