Server at 2nd Floor is really rude, bad customer experience.
staff was amazing!
Great time but there needs to be a better system (not sure what) as far as the amount of time you're seated. We hadn't even gotten our bill and a gentlemen came to our table telling us our time was up. It's not right that you're a paying customer but yet you're on a time limit.
The service is better than any place I have ever been to in Manhattan. Have been there many times and I keep coming back and bringing my friends with me. We love Essex. Never change your vibe!
I've eaten here twice and have enjoyed my experience both times. The food is great and I like the intimacy of the setting. There are spacious booths and the lighting is dim and accentuated by tea lights at the tables. I really enjoyed the crispy gnocchi and shrimp.
Always love the vibe here for brunch, as I've been coming here for years. However, it's starting to get a bit expensive when compared to similar brunch offerings in the area. Particularly, the portion size of the Pulled Chicken Arepas needs to improve, or this item should be revisited/removed from the menu altogether. Value isn't really there from a food perspective.
Excellent brunch, great service! Will definitely come Back and recommend.
Beautiful space, friendly service, great food! Will definitely return!!
Food was fine, service was fine, ambiance was fine. Everything was just fine but not spectacular.
Great experience, unfortunately when we arrived our table was not ready and we were told to wait another 15 minutes so opted for the bar seating, the hostess gave us free drink tickets but we got the bottomless brunch anyway, overall great experience I would definitely go back.
I’ve ben to Essex at least 10 times and it’s always good!
Great spot .. I love this place
Always amazing! Good Food, Service and Atmosphere!
Had a great evening getting $1 oysters and half priced cocktails. Ambiance was perfect for a nice night out with a small group of friends or an intimate date with a loved one.
Out of this world brunch entrees. You really can't go wrong. The bottomless bloody marys and mimosas were also terrific (they also have screwdrivers, but we didn't get any). I sort of expected bottomless drinks to be poor quality, but they were delicious.
Our waiter was great. We did the $65 prefixe for 2 courses and unlimited drinks.
The food was pretty good, and the drinks were flowing. We had a great time.
Good isn’t bad but service needs more polish. We had to ask for bread and utensils for each course.
Thursday is all night happy hour. Say no more. Catching Thursday night all night happy hour on the 2nd to last day of restaurant week: priceless
Love food and services. The only problem was it was hot, no air conditioner
This was a great place--loved the restaurant week menu!
The music was very loud so don't go there expecting to have a deep conversation with your company. The food was good, not huge portions but satisfactory. I had the shrimp and grits and would recommend that dish. The brunch drinks weren't really bottomless as our waitress wasn't very attentive.
Went for their bottomless brunch- they were fabulous at refilling our drinks quickly! Everyone loved their meals. The house music was a little much for me personally, but it definitely fueled the party vibe.
Great for brunch!
Great experience. Great service. Great food. The Restaurant Week Menu has nice variety of options and it’s a great deal.
the restaurant week menu was generous and excellent. we had the tuna poke (very generous portion) braised short ribs for appetizers. the main course was the lamb chops and duck confit.
Great food, excellent service, needs more ambiance
Service was great. We arrived very late to our reservation and they made their best to accommodate us. We even received one coupon to spend on a drink while we waited. They never stopped serving us mimosas, they really were on top of it, we didn't have to ask for refills. People was fun too, good environment and great experience.
The staff was terrible
Went for restaurant week and although we were rushed for time and couldn't partake of the desert, the appetizers and entree were terrific. The service was excellent and the reason for the "very good" rating above was that the bus-help asked to remove my plates BEFORE the other guest had finished theirs.
Restaurant servers need to educate their employees that removing plates before all guests have finished makes the guest RUSH to finish or highlights their position of being the last ones to eat.
Enjoyed food, service, excellent overall experience!
Essex never disappoints! Been coming for years. Great value, great food choices. Great drinks.
Weren’t a lot of options. Food was mediocre. Didn’t play different genres of music. Bread for the table was ICE COLD and when asked if there was anyway to warm it we were told no. Will definitely not be coming back here. Service was great though.
I went to brunch about 3 weeks ago and I'm just getting around to writing a review. My coworkers and I were celebrating the end of the world cup and thought what other way than with bottomless brunch! The drinks and service was awesome . Raul was prompt and smiling although it was super busy and noisy but the food was bland. I had time send back the "biscuits and gravy" dish and the replacement dish was no better but we settled. A for service and drinks , D- for food and that's me being considerate .
We were there for birthday
Had a great time
Only hiccup was that they rushed us out and suggested bar because they needed table
Could of been handled better
Sunday’s they have a great 5-10 happy hour for drinks half hour. The food is phenomenal and the staff is superrrr nice
Overall the restaurant and food as good. Found interiors rather dark but we were there at night. We did enjoy our meal. The $1 oysters for Happy Hour are worth it!
Drink was warm, service took too long... bad experience. Didn’t want to leave tips at all.
Oh, my goodness I love this place. My first experience was 4 years ago when I was invited by my cousin for a Valentine's Day Brunch, the salmon with caviar, poached egg, and potato pancake was absolutely delicious. Recently, we went back for dinner, need I say I was not let down.
The blackened catfish was served over a bed of medium diced potatoes, slighty covered with a white very savory gravy and three shrimps was scrumptious....very light, moist and not salty.
We treated Dad to a Father's Day meal at Essex and loved our dining experience. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The menu was varied and everyone joined their dinners. Wonderful service and great cocktails. We shall definitely return.
Great service that accommodated my family with young kids. Was a great place to bring the kids but still have a good time with delicious food.
Had one of the best brunches here.
Amazing food, bottomless screwdrivers or mimosas.
The place had great energy and my group of friends had an amazing time
Service was awesome, on top of everything and super friendly.
