Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food that we ate was delicious. I really like the new tastes and ingredients that the chef worked into the various vegetarian dishes that we ordered. also my mother has a difficult time hearing in noisy places and this restaurant was very quiet due to the fact that there wasn't any large event taking place at the Walker. Service was spectacular.
Visited on a rainy night because it was close to home. Pretty much ignored by wait staff and restaurant was not busy. Never offered or received bread though our next door dining companions did. Never offered more to drink or asked how our meals were, and had to ask for another glass of wine.
Our server was excellent but the food was only so so. I expected the food would be better but we didn’t even bother to finish the pasta dish we ordered - it was boring.
One of the best outdoor dining spaces in the city, great views of the city and the sculpture garden. Great menu, always good service. Esker Grove is not just a museum restaurant. It totally stands on it own, the museum adds some extra ambiance.
One of our favorite places to eat. Highly recommend it.
server should have introduced themselves, name, dishes of the day etc, lacked attentiveness
Always superlative, food and service.
We loved the view of the sculpture garden right out the window, and the restaurant itself was clean, artsy and modern. Our server was kind and professional. Coffee was excellent and the breakfast sandwich and both salmon and avocado/crab toasts were also very good. The steak and frites did not meet expectations, as the meat was gristly and the dish, overall, was underwhelming. As the most expensive item on the menu, this was a disappointment.
Nice! We ate on the patio. Spider issues but it’s outside so an occasional bug is ok!
The food here is absolutely outstanding. I could eat the beet entree every day and never tire of it. The portions are sized perfectly, and the food is innovative, not fussy and on the healthful end of things. The wine list is lovely and the mixed drinks are excellent. I prefer the dinner menu, but the lunch menu is also better than the average. I find the outdoor seating the best in this neighborhood. Being removed from the street makes it much quieter than most patios. The wait staff is attentive and polite, not the overbearing in your face one too often encounters in restaurants.
The terrace in the summer here is the finest al fresco dining spot in the Twin Cities, especially at dusk.
(My rating for 'quiet' is out here - inside is uncomfortably noisy). The food is always good here and sometimes just outstanding. That was the case this time. The pea soup was superb, the crayfish with asparagus very nice (a bit less vinaigrette would have been helpful), the chicken with maitake delicious. The halibut, substituted for the skate wing in the same prep was however the best halibut dish I've had this season anywhere - including Spoon and Stable and The Kenwood, other paragons of fish cooking. Gorgeous fish, perfectly cooked, lovely broth. A winner all around. Service was delightfully friendly as always, though
the gap between courses was far too long (a kitchen issue, not service - but since the food came out so well we were not unhappy!)
Menu was limited but executed well. Wish there was a little greater variety but we were able to eat and leave full.
Food was delicious, best outdoor patio in the Twin Cities.
Great food great people watching. An excellent date night with my husband!
We had a great time. Always delicious food. Great service and a lovely night all around.
Esker grove is inside the Walker Museum. The setting is wonderful. We take all our guest here for dinner. The menu changes with the seasons and I have never been disappointed. It is costly though, but worth it.
Perfect date night spot for us (when we have time away from baby). Everything from drinks to starters to dessert was phenomenal. Highly recommend the pea soup and the beets. Both the Pot de Creme and the Chocolate Peanut dessert was amazing. Look forward to being back for brunch!
We were there for drinks and hors’deurvres. Drinks were ok, but calamari was lacking—little amount if fish lost in salad ingredients. Not tasty. Artichoke was uber greasy—why? This is a finger food. And so little artichoke flesh.
Bread was good.
We ate Saturday brunch here before touring the Sculpture Garden. Food was fresh and delicious, service was great!
We’ll definitely go back! The food and service were both amazing and the view from the patio was gorgeous.
A delicious interlude to compliment a great day of art viewing. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, imaginative menu with a variety of seasonal flavours. Whether it is for a quick snack or a full meal I would highly recommend
Short vacay in Minneapolis. Brunch was delicious. The French Toast is really good. Get a side of their bacon to round it out. Cocktails hit the spot too! Setting is bright from the big windows. Was a bit warm but otherwise we enjoyed.
sorry, I don't write food reviews, just as I don't sing for my supper.
The outdoor patio is to die for. Can’t say enough about the beautiful view.
Lovely food from brunch menu, not too crowded so not noisy, accommodating service. A fine experience.
Outstanding on all levels. Best dining experience in TC. Book a table now! Charlie was so accommodating and sweet!
Food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Good server. Atmosphere was nice but dead. Felt like we were eating in a coffee shop/cafe. Probably better for lunch or a coffee. Not a great dinner/date vibe.
Very tasty scallop and great atmosphere
After our shift at a booth at the Pride Festival, we had brunch. It was very busy, so we were pleased that we had made reservations. While the service was a bit slow, it was due to the place being slammed. & the food was worth the wait.
We had a wonderful experience at Esker Grove. We sat right next to the window--one of best views in Minneapolis. The food was great----a bit different than most venues. We had skate wing, a new experience--we were happy with this entree--even though we had no familiarity with it.
Amazing experience at Esker Grove while visiting Minneapolis for work. Small group of colleagues and I dined on the patio in perfect weather. Service was top notch from the bar to the patio, but our server Maija was truly the best. She was super friendly, relaxed, and had great suggestions for us. We all enjoyed our starters - great reviews of the Grove salad and fried cauliflower. Scallops and beets were excellent choices for our entrees. Everyone loved the semifreddo at dessert and the coffee by Spyhouse was also terrific. Highly recommend if you have a chance to visit! (Allow yourself time after dinner to walk through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden!)
Four of us dined here, with four different types of entrees. Each of us enjoyed our meal thoroughly. The service was a tad slow, otherwise good.
The host/manager there provided stellar service. We had a reservation 45 minutes before a screening we had tickets for. One hour in advance was not available, and we were just getting apps and drinks, so figured 45 minutes was plenty of time. It was busy, so our food and drinks arrived about 20 minutes before showtime (25 minutes after arrival), and one drink arrived just before we had to go. The woman who took care of us was apologetic and gave us a 50% discount (that we did not even ask for) for the time crunch. Outstanding! We paid our tab and walked into the cinema just as the program was beginning.
My only complaint was that the NA cocktail I ordered (that arrived JUST before showtime) was SOUR. I couldn't barely get it down, but didn't have time to fix/change my order.
Unusual, tasty menu, great service, pleasant atmosphere
This was our first time for dinner. We love the brunch selection and quality. While our dinner was very good, we missed having the option of the burger or some of the items from the lunch or brunch menu.
The dinner prices and menu are more "special occasion".
Great outdoor sitting and beautiful view and delicious food. Highly recommend it.
We both ordered chicken with favs beans. No favs beans in sight. Chicken was little drey.
Noted with the 5 stars in each category
Skate wing was unremarkable. Asparagus and seafood small plate was meh-- no relationship between the two. Loved the tuna and citrus dish. Very sadly restaurant was out of sorbet -- at 8:30.
Was surprised that a large wedding rehearsal dinner had booked much of the restaurant (really! and not an event space?) Might want to let guests making reservations know that. Luckily it was a nice eventing and we were able to get a table outside.
Somehow it seems like the patio space could be nicer. Maybe with a tree? or plants? Somehow feels a bit dark and cold.
Delicious food, fantastic service!
