I visited for brunch. The atmosphere is great. I'd recommend as a date spot or somewhere to grab a drink at the bar. It was very quiet in the morning and the abundance of natural light is wonderful. The view onto the sculpture garden is nice too. I didn't find the food to be anything special, average at best. I might have ordered the "wrong" thing. A friend had the Cobb salad and thought it was delicious. Service was great.
Food and service were divine. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere but WAY too noisy. Not a relaxing dining experience to say the least. Perhaps on the patio in summer I’d enjoy it more.
My husband & I made 7:30p reservations online. The restaurant was packed with people when we arrived, many attending a show at the Walker. After waiting for a table to open, we then immediately ordered a drink. The staff was so crazy busy we didn't get it until 8p. I just think they would have been much better off to manage the reservation times better. Don't book a 730 reservation if you cannot serve people at 730. The food was really outstanding. Highly recommend the endive salad and tuna crudo. We will give them another try but will check the show calendar 1st to make sure we don't get stuck in the theatre rush again.
Fantastically prepared and innovative meals. Exceptional service.
It’s very stupid of you to demand a minimum of 50 characters review b/c people don’t like to be told what to do....be smart...
Went there for restaurant week with my girlfriend, and was not disappointed. Everything was so good. The vibe was nice, the food was good, the lighting made it more romantic, plus the seating by the window. It was perfect. The only con I would say was the creme brulee. The texture was more jello-y than custard. And you could really taste the egg. It wasn't as sweet was we thought it was supposed to be. Other than that, everything was SOO good. Would definitely still recommend my friends going here.
Really good brunch! I’ll be back for dinner.
Pop Tarts - Do not leave without one!
Waitress kind of forgot about us. Would have ordered another round of drinks, but didn’t get the chance.
This restaurant is one of the hidden treasures of the Twin Cities. It has style. The food is original without being too precious, and absolutely delicious. This was my third meal there. I have never been disappointed.
Restaurant virtually empty. More waiters than tables; but service was slow and food took over 40 minutes to arrive. Food was excellent; but, given how bad the service was, I don’t plan to return to this restaurant again.
Fantastic Happy Hour menu and prices T-Fri from 4-6. Highly recommend the ribs and cauliflower.
We enjoyed our meal...I had the scallops and they were delicious. My sister had the beet salad and she enjoyed that. We had the appetizer of cauliflower....I wish it were roasted instead of fried...that is my only complaint. The staff was friendly and informative and the ambience was nice with the full glass window views and candles.
We were slightly late. They called to check whether we were coming. The whole group of staff members couldn't have been more helpful, kind and caring. We ended up being there at close. They were so hospitable and calm. It was such a pleasant experience. I honestly have eaten at Esker Grove quite a few times. It is a real treat every time. Thanks for the great and creative food and lovely atmosphere.
Our server, Erin, was fantastic! We enjoyed the ambience and the meal (and a fantastic smoked IPA from Hammerheart) before heading to After Hours at the Walker.
We liked everything including the fact that we could hear each other talk. We took our time and enjoyed each course. The only slight bummer was our actual table. Ours was round and the top would slightly rotate. No big deal but odd.
Service was not good once the place got busy. Atmosphere is lovely. Maybe stick to happy hour.
Second year in a row have some Valentine's weekend dinner here and was as good as last time. Also did quick stroll thru the sculpture garden prior to dinner. Plus scored free parking on street near garden.
Overpriced. Great service, drinks, atmosphere. Food wasn't great.
It was perfect for Valentines' Day. The menu was the regular dinner menu (I do NOT like pre-fixe menus). The service was not rushed, which means our dinner was not rushed. We enjoyed wonderful evening together, in a beautiful setting with attentive (but not too much) service. This place is a gem!
Very creative dishes.
Wonderful and romantic valentines experience. A beautiful culinary experience. Thank you!
Food was good but quality ranged from one item to the next. Salad was average, trout was excellent. Portions are obviously very small. I always appreciate a menu that reflects the size of the portion being served. Drinks were marginal. Too much sweetner.
Please consider investing in some comfortable chairs, more fashionable tables, and tablecloths. Ambience is that of a museum cafeteria.
Great food and not frenetic in a beautiful space with kind service!
Everything from the drinks to the main course was beautifully prepared, delicious, with each dish having a unique twist but no overkill to the taste buds. A bit noisy but wonderful ambience and great service. It surpassed our normally high expectations and we will definitely be back with family and friends!
Love esker grove. Love the staff, the view, location and the food. The food presentation is gorgeous and delicious. The ribs, the beets, so so good. I’m just ready for a new menu. I miss some of the more casual food too. The chicken liver mousse was something I craved and we would go to EG because of that. It’s been gone from the menu and so missed by many. Having a burger isn’t a terrible thing but theirs was so good.
Loved my kolrabi salad and eggplant "boats". Pumpkin mousse dessert was THE BEST.
We had a great Sunday brunch. It was delightful.
Perfect location and delivery food but service very slow and inattentive.
Great location, cool vibe and great service. We will go again!
So disappointing. Going to Esker Grove before the British ad awards show is a tradition for my friend and I and we always look forward to this special treat. We had Poor/slow service. Seating very crowded because extra chair added to the table next to ours . Bacon was fatty and not at all crispy. Mimosa was sour.
Great service made the brunch even better. Delicious food and we especially loved the pop tart!
When making the reservation I noted that we would be celebrating our anniversary. We were treated to complimentary wine and dessert.
We had a reservation on Open Table but when we arrived, the check-in person couldn’t find it. I showed them the OT reservation on my phone, and there was still confusion. We were finally seated, and they told us we would need to leave by 7:30 since another table was coming in. We would have been long gone by that time, but the whole greeting process was not welcoming at all. The waitstaff was busy but did a good job. The scallops and gnocchi were delicious. The ambience was very nice after the lights were dimmed. Noise level lively but not too loud for conversation.
Maybe for a salad if you aren’t in a rush and aren’t overly hungry
Lovely experience, except for the noise. One of our favorite places. Thanks for a wonderful night out!
Brunch is lovely. All 4 of us had different and beautiful entrées that were fully enjoyed. Aesthetic, tasty and generous/appropriate portion sizes. The setting is lovely.
Excellent food, interesting menu, fabulous staff and service. Thankfully there's no background music, but nonetheless the noise level was so high we almost had to shout to hear each other.
Our food was delicious. Claire, our server, made the experience so positive, we gave her an extra special tip. It was for my 50th birthday and without telling anyone, they made it a great day!!
Had a reservation for 7:45 but were able to seat us early, which was good. Could use some acoustic sound-absorption products to tamper down noise a bit.
