Esin Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food was fabulous, as always, but it was delivered much sooner than expected. We were still sipping our cocktails. We ordered wine just before the food came but the wine was delayed so we didn't get that until we were finished with our meal.
The restaurant comped the birthday girl's dessert, which was very special.
Have been to Esin a # of times. Regular menu is quite appealing, but one of the nice things is that the restaurant always has interesting specials. Also, on Sundays, they have very good prime rib! Service really good. Outside patio area has improved since my last visit with a clearer/bigger barrier between Esin and the parking lot. One problem with the place is one of the restaurant's sections having small tables for individuals and couples do not afford much privacy. It is too easy for people next to you to hear your conversations.
Esin has always been a family favorite for special occasions. This time there were a couple of issues. We arrived at our reservation time only to find out that we would have to wait about 20 minutes. Then they tried to sit us at a table right next to the bar when I asked for a booth for a special occasion Then the hostess had a little attitude over the issue. The restaurant manager then came in to help resolve the situation and did make it good in the end.
Nice ambiance and decor. Well executed and varied dishes. Service was on point. In this price range it’s a good choice.
Bay scallops were fresh, cooked just right and velvety.
Halibut was cooked very well and flavorful.
Location is a little off the beaten path but has excellent parking.
We went for NYE. They did a prix fixe menu (which wasn’t advertised), but the food was very good. We enjoyed all the courses and it was a great meal. The tables are a little close together so I wouldn’t go here for an intimate date night, but again the food and service was exceptional.
Our third visit to Esin was every bit as wonderful as the first two. The tiny appetizer, the first course soup, the second course crab concoction on toast, the third course melt in your mouth steak for my wife and my melt in my mouth lamb chops and the last course apple tart were all superior.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the service. Friendly, unhurried, consistently excellent service from our waiter through those who poured, delivered, removed and wiped. It was Matt who was our waiter on this night. Good as he was those who have served us on previous occasions were his equal. Kudos to the persons who hire and direct these people.
We shall be back.
We had an issue with our cocktails. Why are you using shrub in a classic cocktail. Ordered a Dark and Stormy and it just tasted like vinegar with little ginger flavor. Would never order again. The salmon special was delicious and the salmon cooked perfectly. However, the halibut special was quite the opposite. The halibut was way over cooked. The couscous and the broth it sat in were tasty though. Of course, the lemon tart and the cake special were outstanding. Esin is still a great place to have dessert!
The restaurant is located in a shopping center and has comfortable decor. The staff is ok--the host-person seemed somewhat distracted and didn't exude positive spirit (and it was the holiday week). Wait-person provided specials in a rote manner and mumbled throughout. Food was ok--nothing spectacular. I had the soup du jour (your traditional butternut squash with creme fraiche design) and the appetizer gnocchi. My friend had the lamb burger. We finished sharing a slice of coconut cream pie. I had not been to Esin for a long time (the last being when they were in San Ramon); it is an adequate place to eat.
Esin is our neighborhood restaurant. We have been dining there since they were located in San Ramon. Great dinning experience in the San Ramon Valley. Menu always up to date, with several items always available. Really enjoy their specials which are seasonal and varied. Service is great and friendly, but not too friendly.
Haven’t been to Esin in a year and wow, I really regret that. All four of our meals were outstanding (we licked the plates clean!) we had the salmon, pork chops, gnocchi and French onion soup and all were perfect in every way. Our server was sweet, attentive and very knowledgeable. The bartender makes a mean Cosmo too. We will be back there soon for sure.
In our party of four, we had two prawn and saffron cream dishes on pasta -- rated Outstanding by both eaters. I had the Snake River Farms Wagyu Beef Burger, also fantastic. And our fourth person had the steak sandwich. He said you could cut the steak like butter. We all cleaned our plates but, of course, had room for desserts. All in all, a VERY YUMMY dining experience with excellent service -- even on a pre-Christmas busy day. We love this place.
